The setting sun cast an eerie glow on Bai Jingfei's face and heavenly doctor Ming shuddered as he heard what she had said.
"Are you some sort of oracle FeiFei?"
Bai Jingfei was pretty confused about what exactly was so special about her saying that a man who looked like he could die any second, was going to die.
So she turned to Ladder, expecting for him to help her brush off whatever allegations were being put forward against her. But Ladder wasn't going to be of any help.
Ladder stared at Bai Jingfei too, eyes wide open.
Bai Jingfei shook her head vigorously side to side, denying all accusations put forward but heavenly doctor Ming wasn't having it.
He pushed forward a young man who was waiting in line for medicines, to Bai Jingfei.
"Is this man going to die FeiFei? Is he? Is he?" he yelled impatiently.
Of course the young man was extremely confused. He had come out to the jade medical hall to buy some rash cream and here he was right now.
Bai Jingfei yawned and kicked the red talisman yet again. She was trying to tune out heavenly doctor Ming but with him yelling like that it was basically impossible for her to pretend he wasn't there.
He had also snatched a random patient from somewhere so if she were to ignore him, the poor patient would be stuck like that for a while.
The quickest method was to say she was an oracle or some nonsense like that.
Unfortunately for the patient, while Bai Jingfei had developed some sympathy she lacked empathy. She wasn't going to trouble herself to save the young man's time.
So Bai Jingfei decided to answer heavenly doctor Ming's question.
"Teacher, we all die someday"
Heavenly doctor Ming clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"FeiFei is he going to die soon? He grunted.
He knew that Bai Jingfei knew exactly what he meant but was just wasting his time. He stared at her with burning passion in his eyes and his grip on the random patient he had caught, tightened.
The poor patient almost squealed in discomfort when Bai Jingfei finally decided to respond.
"I dunno. This guy doesn't look like he's going to die…" she whispered casually.
Heavenly doctor Ming let go of that patient and shoved him aside and grabbed another patient. Then he violently swung said patient in front of Bai Jingfei.
"What about this one FeiFei? What about this one?"
"What about him?" said Bai Jingfei, narrowing her eyes.
"You know very well what I'm asking." yelled heavenly doctor Ming maniacally, "Is he going to die soon or not, FeiFei!"
Bai Jingfei had had enough by then. She stood up and banged her palms onto the table. There was a loud thud but considering Bai Jingfei was pretty tiny and didn't weigh much, the impact of the thud wasn't very much.
Bai Jingfei began pointing around the room in a crazed daze.
"That one, that one and that one." she screamed, "They're probably going to die."
While Bai Jingfei had pointed pretty randomly she had no clue that her death radar was almost one hundred percent true. She had pointed out two people with fatal diseases and another man who would be found run over by a bullock cart the next day.
Bai Jingfei's name would soon spread across the kingdom as a genius doctor that could predict death from just a glance of one's face.
It was amusing how Bai Jingfei's luck was only ever good when it would beget more bad luck.
If she had guessed wrongly she could've gotten off the hook scot free and could've simply laughed at heavenly doctor Ming.
But in anger and frustration she had basically pulled herself into a pit.
God only knew if this so-called "death radar" would last very long. If it randomly wore off in between some diagnosis of a patient, Bai Jingfei would be in for some very big trouble.
Heavenly doctor Ming was very very stunned.
Bamboozled if you might.
He had no clue as to how Bai Jingfei could have possibly pulled that off, and truth be told Bai Jingfei herself had no clue of how she had pulled that off.
Heavenly doctor Ming assumed she had 2/3rds accuracy rate but would find out the next day that she was one hundred percent, dot on.
Bai Jingfei, clueless to what would come, walked out of the jade medicinal hall in a huff.
Right outside the hall was a suspicious looking old man who was peering into the jade hall, staring intently at heavenly doctor Ming.
Bai Jingfei almost instantly thought that heavenly doctor Ming had teleported or some demonic stuff like that, but upon closer inspection it was heavenly doctor Ming's rival, heavenly doctor Ling.
Bai Jingfei gave him a little bow and turned to walk off when she heard heavenly doctor Ling.
Heavenly doctor Ling had a strangely feminine voice but was undoubtedly a suspicious old man much like heavenly doctor Ming. His appearance must have been dashing half a century or so ago but he currently had awkward wrinkles and the appearance of a dried up prune.
Bai Jingfei turned around wondering what exactly heavenly doctor Ling could possibly want from her.
Heavenly doctor Ling was famed for his acupuncture skills, unlike heavenly doctor Ming who was famed for his tonics. This meant that heavenly doctor Ling got much fewer patients and was thus idle most of the day.
Like now, peering into his rival's medicinal hall.
Bai Jingfei tilted her head like a confused kitten and stared at heavenly doctor Ling.
Heavenly doctor awkwardly fiddled with his clothes before pinning his hands behind his back and crouching down toward Bai Jingfei to bridge the large height distance.
Bai Jingfei had no height difference with heavenly doctor Ming but heavenly doctor Ling was quite a good bit taller than both of them and thus had to crouch.
"Child, do you want to come to my medical hall instead?"
