Chapter 80 - Chapter 80 - Change in conversation

Adrian's mind was buzzing with unsaid praises of his girlfriend when he heard the next sentence, "So can we go to see mom? I miss her so much." Jennifer asked. "No. And don't ask this question again. My answer is not going to change. Your mother convinced me to mend ties with you and that is why we are having this conversation but that doesn't mean I will let you harm her again." Mr. Williams said.

"Dad, she is my mother. Why will I harm her?" Jennifer replied with irritancy in her voice. "By loving her, you harm her. You didn't see the way she cried when you left in your fit of stupid anger for some stupid boy that might just use you around a few years and then dump you. You didn't see her state when she had all those sleepless nights, thinking about you. What you were doing? Had you eaten? The day we got notification about you using your credit card, she was so happy that we were finally going to find you and convince you to come home but when we didn't find you there, she started crying, in the shop, the exact same shop where you brought clothes. Do you feel that? How would you feel like if you see Adrian drowning in sorrow because of something where you are helpless-"

"Don't, don't use the Adrian card because if anybody has the right to use it, it's my mom. You know what, he is the reason I'm having this conversation with you at the first place. He told me to go home and mend ties with you. The real reason why I'm here." Jennifer also began arguing back. "So you can shout at me, dad. You can ground me. You can lock me up and not give me food because honestly, I wish I was dead. I already feel dead without him. I don't feel anything anymore. And you wanna know the best part, I don't even care anymore." Jennifer was so angry that she got up from the bed and ran out of the room, straight into her garden, closing all the doors behind her angrily.

Adrian was totally shocked at the sudden turn of events. The conversation was going in the right direction. Why does everything crash down at the exact same moment it needs to be prefect? Adrian looked at Kaleb with an 'I don't know what to do' look. Kaleb was also rendered answerless. He thought they would actually make it up today. No one expected this. Adrian was about to disconnect the call when he heard Jennifer mumbling something. "I'm going to search each and every hospital in town until I find her and you just wait dad. You are biased about Adrian. I will show you how much Adrian means to me. I'll show you that you are wrong this time."

Adrian was definitely sure Jennifer was about to take a step she would regret in future. He knew this voice. It was his revenge and vengeance voice. And he knew for a fact that whatever decisions he made on that state of mind were never right. She was just fueled by her anger. "Jennifer, can you hear me?" Adrian said. "Yeah. I can and don't you try and stop me. I've had enough of his drama." Jennifer disconnected the call as she stood in the garden with the wind blowing off her hair and her mind bustling with schemes, guilt, hurt and worry.

"Uh.. why do I care so much? That's the problem! I care too much. I care about mom. I care about dad. I care about Adrian. I care about the world crashing down. I care about each and everything when no one really cares about me!" Jennifer was speaking to herself. "You're wrong. I care about you." Adrian's voice reached her ears as she turned around to see him standing near a bench with James and Kaleb. In her anger, Jennifer didn't even realize that she had come from her house to a public park.

"Oh Adrian." Jennifer went into a hug straight away. "A few hours without me and you tell your dad you wanna be dead. Do you even know how panicked I was when I heard that? I'm mean ask Kaleb, he was there. I was literally ready to jump out of the phone screen in front of your dad, if that was possible." Adrian told Jennifer as he accepted her in his embrace. "You don't even have the slightest idea of how it feels to be without you." Jennifer chuckled to herself.

"I do. I was without you too." Adrian said in a comforting voice that soothes every wound of Jennifer. It was like a medicine to her bruised self. "Okay lovebirds. Time's up!" Kaleb said clapping his hands. Jennifer turned around to see her father's car just around the corner of the street. She dragged Adrian by his collar and ducked behind some bushes to hide until the car passed by. "He is probably going to the hospital. I need to follow him. I'll catch up with you later." Jennifer said as she straightened up.

"No. You're not following him. Yeah! We did make a deal but there's only a limit to which you can push a guy. Judging from the aggressiveness in his voice I suggest you stay back." James aid these lines standing in front of Jennifer, blocking her path as she struggled to go behind the car. Jennifer looked at Adrian for help. "I'm afraid. He's right. You are not going." Adrian said defeated. "What! You must be kidding me! She's my mom. I need to see her." Jennifer said in disbelief. Even Adrian wasn't supporting her.

Adrian softly brought Jennifer near the bench and made her sit on it. "Now listen to me carefully. I'm your boyfriend. Well not exactly but you still get the idea. And I love you so what I'm telling you to do will be in the best of your interests." Adrian counselled Jennifer. "What you did back there, Running from home. Lying to your parents. It was wrong. You are wrong here. Okay? So just apologize. All they need is your apology and everything will go back to normal. You get me?" Adrian looked at Jennifer in the eyes and told her to go back home again but this time try a little more polite and friendly way of telling them that she was sorry.
