Chapter 52 - Chapter 52- Indignation

The car stopped in front of Adrian's home. Jennifer's father barged in, dragging her behind. Not caring about the commotion created by the security. Jennifer tried to wriggle free of his grip only to increase the tightness of his hold. Jennifer was sure her wrist might start bleeding if not released now. Several security men tried to stop Jennifer's father bit didn't care about them, shoving them here and there.

Finally, when one security men threatened to call the police did her father stop and ask for Mr. Rains. He said he wanted to meet him. Jennifer and her father entered Adrian's house when the butler opened the door. He greeted them politely. While, Jennifer returned the greetings, her father simply ignored. "Dad, leave me." Jennifer finally shouted. She was trying to stay calm but it wasn't working. Her father was in no mood to listen and he had dragged her to Adrian's house for god knows what.

"Don't you dare talk." Jennifer's father growled and wanted to slap her again but someone held his hand. Jennifer peeked behind her father to see Adrian holding her father's hand. Adrian had come downstairs after hearing a lot of noise in the house about someone trespassing their property. His mafia instincts overtook him and he came downstairs in hope of settling the issue but when his eyes landed on Jennifer and her father, he stopped. He immediately understood why they both would have come home. He noticed that Jennifer was crying.

Adrian wanted to rush to her and yank her father away from Jennifer but he thought that would worsen the situation. So, he didn't do anything but when her father was about to hit her, Adrian lost control. He ran towards them and caught the hand of Jennifer's father before he could hurt Jennifer. Jennifer gasped. "Who do you think you are?" Jennifer's father looked at Adrian with extreme disinterest.

"Sir, please calm down. Have a seat." Adrian extended his hand and motioned them to sit on the couch. "I want to talk to your dad." Jennifer's father ignored Adrian's words and repeated the same sentence for probably the hundredth time. "Dad will come downstairs shortly. Please have a seat." Adrian tried to handle the situation wisely, secretly wishing that all of this would end the right way.

He was scared, not because of Jennifer's father but because if he did even the smallest thing wrong, he would only increase the trouble for Jennifer. He was treading on dangerous grounds. World's definition for dangerous was a lot different from Adrian's definition. An angry father of a girl he loved that might never be his girlfriend, was his dangerous situation.

Mr. Rains came downstairs and greeted Jennifer's father, "Hello Mr. Williams. How are you?" Jennifer's father replied in a cold voice, "I assume you know the reason for my presence in your home. So, let's get straight to the point. How are you planning on fulfilling the breach terms and conditions?" Mr. Rains closed his mouth and his eyes narrowed down to slits.

"Sir, I beg you to think about this situation calmly. There is no need for breaching the contract. It will lead to loss for both parties." He tries to reason with him. "I made it very clear that none of the parties would be romantically involved. I repeat myself again. How are you planning on fulfilling the obligatory money on the breach of the contract?"

Jennifer's father was planning on breaching the contract between their companies. This was a really bad news. Neither Jennifer not Adrian were prepared for that. Breach of this contract would lead to huge economical losses for both parties. Most probably, one of the company would be affected so badly that it would have to be sold out. This company most probably belonged to Mr. Rains.

"Sir, let's not break the contract. We can settle this matter among us. My son and your daughter both are here. You can punish them the way you like. Involving the companies would lead to a huge unrest." Mr. Rains again pleaded. Jennifer's father seemed involved in deep thinking. He was quiet for several minutes. Jennifer was seriously hoping that the punishment would not be so harsh but the current situation was indicating otherwise.

After a stretched beat, Jennifer's father spoke, "The deal is definitely off. But since you mentioned it I would like to discuss this as well. What punishment do you think you deserve?" He turned his head towards Adrian and Jennifer felt her heart slip into the pit of her stomach. Her dad was unpredictable today. He was like a switch, one moment and his sanity was off. Adrian, on the other hand, was quite relieved to hear that Jennifer's father planned on punishing him and not Jennifer. If Jennifer was punished for this, he would not be able to live with himself.

"Sir, I shall accept any punishment that seems fit to you." Adrian submitted himself without another second wasted. Mr. Rains was more than happy with the direction of the conversation currently. Adrian had refused to go to Seychelles. He deserved punishment. As for Jennifer, he couldn't care less. His only worry was the contract that Mr. Williams had decided to break. Jennifer was truly horrified. Her breath got struck in her throat. "Dad…" she breathed. Mr. Williams turned to meet her eyes for the first time today.

"Dad, what are you planning to do?" She barely managed to ask. Her voice was trembling badly. It was her mistake, she deserved the punishment but now Adrian was being dragged into this. Just like Darius. Everybody close to her was harmed because of her stupidity. "I forbid you from seeing Adrian from now on. If anyone spots you both together, that day will be your last day in out family. I will disown you." Mr. Williams dropped the bomb. Just as these words reached Jennifer's ears, she dropped on the floor, unable to hold her grief anymore.

The already excruciating pain in Adrian's heart doubled when Jennifer dropped to the floor, right in front of his eyes but he couldn't even more an inch. He thought Mr. Williams would punish him but he was planning a punishment for Jennifer. He was the one at fault. He was guilty but Jennifer was going to pay for his recklessness. Jennifer would be the one suffering pain and torment when Adrian was the one who deserved it. "As for you, young boy…." Mr. Williams had just begun his sentence when Jennifer's voice rang thorough the entire house.

"Dad, I accept your punishment. That's enough. I have learnt my lesson. Leave him alone. Please." The last words came out like a whisper. If this day could go anymore wrong than it was already, the only possibility left was for Jennifer to die. Her own father, whom she loved to the moon and back, was hell bent on making her suffer. The gut-wrenching pain overwhelmed Jennifer as she sobbed on the floor of Adrian's house.

"I did not say that I'm done here. It will be better if you shut up!" Mr. Williams spoke these words with his back to Jennifer and then approached Adrian. Adrian tensed up, the worst had already unfolded. What more could happen? Nothing too worse than what he had seen multiple times. "Follow me, boy" Mr. Williams walked out of Adrian's house like he owned the place, Adrian following him behind closely.
