A spear of blood bolted past tree after tree. A young enchanter ran for his life. The spear gaining more and more ground. Sweat dripped down his forehead as his death flew closer and closer. "Bullseye!", I shouted with glee as the spear pierced through the young male's medulla and out of his now toothless opened mouth. As his body fell straight to the ground I hustled out to top off my stomach for the next few days. "Killing humans is much more fun than monsters. The way the scream and yell as their death becomes inevitable.", I said aloud to myself after polishing off my fresh meal. I left the bodies discarded in plain sight, hoping it would warn humans not to tread through the Nightshire.
I made my way back to the cavern where Feleshia had been resting. After the pitiful display "The Slayers" put up, and after a fun game of tag with their enchanter, the bright glaring sun had made it's way over the horizon. "Dracul! Where are you?", a soft concerned voice rang out from the cavern. I met her at the cavern opening, as she walked out into the dark wood. "I am here.", I answered. "Where did you go, and why did we level up again?", Feleshia asked curiously. "A human party made their way into the Nightshire during the day. They got to close for comfort so I handed it.". "Honestly Dracul you didn't have to fight them, you could have stayed hidden!", she said slightly angrily, I think she was worried that I might have died. "It's fine Feleshia, I was a little hungry anyway.". "You eat humans!", she gasped. "Yes, they are much better then animals, or monsters, and they give better experience per kill. It's a win win.", I said with a smile. "Well if you are not hungry anymore, I would like to take you to the chief. The dark elves need some help, and I think that we can fulfill Chief Jet's request.". "If it will level us up then let's go. We will need more power to take on the humans. If we are not able to kill their combat classes then I will be captured, and you will be killed.", I stated as Feleshia began to lead me farther into the Nightshire.
I grew tired of walking. It was a slow way to travel, but Feleshia couldn't fly. I wrapped my arms around her waist and shot up though the trees. As we flew out from the leaves I noticed the sky. Stars could be seen from the east to the west, the north to the south. I hadn't given the natural beauty of this world any thought, but it was truest a spectacle. The terrain could changed vastly just beyond a river. I hadn't seen much of this world at all, but I knew that it was a big world. "Over there Dracul!", Feleshia shouted as she pointed down to an absolutely massive tree. I flew us back down into the wood just before the tree. "This is the only place that the dark elves can protect during the day. This tree is so large that it completely blots out the sun.", she told we as we walked up to a large wall that bordered the tree. To dark elf guards met us at the gate, and after Feleshia explained my presence the rouge guards let us through. Large arachnids were housed outside of the tree. Many dark elves farmed the silky webs left behind by the spiders. As we entered the colossal trunk, a city emerged within. On the lowest floor were shops of all kinds, venders as far as the eye could see. We turned and began to climb a spiral staircase that hugged the left wall. As we went higher and higher, I noticed even the branches held housing and other buildings. After what felt like an hour we were at the final stop at the top of the tree. A large wooden door with a dark elf crest blocked the entrance to the highest branch. The door was opened at Feleshia's request and we marched down the long branch. We entered into a throne room were a high level dark elf sat upon a elegant wooden throne. As we grew close to the elf Feleshia fell to a knee with her head bowed saying, "Chief Jet I have brought this man to the the wolvarian task.". She raised her head as the chief responded, "Feleshia I see your level has drastically increased, what intel did you gather from the humans?". "The humans have amassed a large squadron of military soldiers at the village.". "Do you believe that they intend to attack the Nightshire?", he asked with authority. "I do not believe they are after the dark elves Chief. I believe they are hunting after a prison escapee who fled east of Falmon.", Feleshia answered. "Very good. I will dispatch some troops to wait within the caverns and caves around the village area just to be safe. Thank you for your hard work Feleshia. Now about the wolvarians, this man intends to fight?", Jet said as he gestured to me. "I will fight as long as I can gain strength from this endeavor.", I replied. "You surely will. The wolvarians are high in level. They threaten and kill my people, but with the human adventurers as a threat as well I can not spare the elf power to defend from both. If you wish to help then head directly south of the great tree. The wolvarians gather around there to attack and raid our smaller habitats.", the chief explained. Feleshia accepted the chiefs quest, and we were once more on the spiral stairs down the great tree.
As we made our way down the stairs Feleshia insisted that we spend the night and next day there before heading out on our new quest. I tried to debate her, but it seems that women in this world were just as convincing as the ones from my past life. Before I knew it I was agreeing to almost any request she made. We reserved a room in the lowest branch, and were off to see the market place.
