Chapter 7 - One vs Ten

Torg instructed me to place my back against the cell door and slip my hands through a small opening. As I place out my hands one of the guards placed cuffs around both of my wrists. "These cuffs have a level thirty protective spell on them. It is no use trying to break free of them, and I've just decided that you will be fighting with these restraints.",Torg told me with a smirk. "It makes no difference to me battle master. I don't need my hands to eat my food.", I said with the same cocky smirk he had given me. "Hahaha you sure are a confident beast aren't you. Far more entertaining than any of these other worthless monsters.", he said as he reached behind my neck through the bars to attach a chained collar. He then instructed his guard to open the door. The man did as Torg instructed as Torg laced the chain back through the bars so that he could drag me down the long hall. As they opened the cell door, and the battle master began lacing the chain the moment I was waiting for arrived. Torg had the chain loose, which allowed me to lunge toward the guard who had opened the door. I could feel the veins in my face bulge back outward, as if they were going to burst. My fangs drew back out to their original size. The guard was in shock. He seemed to be in disbelief of the circumstances. My fangs gripped his neck as Torg began to drag the chain. Screams filled the prison room as the guard was dying out while we were both being drug down the hall. The other guards stood frozen as they watched their friend slowly die.

About half way down the hall I released the husk of the man. I wasn't too sure how exactly magic worked, but I thought I should figure it out before making it into the arena. I raised my head as high as I could and opened my mouth towards the remaining guards, who were still motionless from the scene that had just played out before their eyes. I envisioned what I thought a blood beam would look like. Just after I had thought about it a crimson red magic circle, roughly the size of my open mouth, appeared with a sphere of blood forming just in front of it. "Get down men!", Torg yelled back to his guards, but it was no use. I swiped my head horizontally as a blood colored beam fired from the sphere. The four level fifteen guards didn't stand a chance. The beam ripped through their torsos, splitting each one of them in half. As the beam hit the walls, and cell bars the room lit up the same jade green as before. No damage was done to any structure. The crimson circle disappeared and the carnage was over. I noticed that roughly one quarter of my health had vanished, but rapidly rose back to full. Killing the men raised my level once more up to twenty one, and from that experience I had learned that using blood magic will use my own health as a catalyst to cast the spells. Lucky for me I also have greater regeneration that quickly tops my health back off. The final thing that I learned was that humans give far more experience than chickens did.

I thought to myself about making a move on Torg, but there were issues with making that decision. One was that Torg was level thirty, which meant that he could more than likely hold his own. The second problem was that if I did get free just how powerful would the full force of the kingdoms military be. Surely I can't take on every soldier at one time. The final problem was that it seemed to me that at my current level I couldn't break through the level thirty protection spell. If I wanted a chance at escaping I had to level up. Just as I had finished my thoughts a cell door closed behind me and the chain that was once pulled tight dragging me was now loose on the floor. "I hope you die a slow and painful death out there bat boy.", said Torg through the bars. "My name is Dracul, and I have a strong feeling that we will be spending a lot of time together battle master.", I said as I faced out through a much larger gate, which led out to the sands of the arena.

I stood in the large opening for about ten minutes or so, as crowds of people swarmed into the seating above the sand. The smaller cell door behind me opened and then shut just as fast. The thud of a body hit the ground behind me. Then the stern voice of Torg spoke out, "drag this piece of trash out with you.", he demanded as he walked away. My first thought was to ignore the order just to anger Torg and the prince, but on second thought I was about to be fight ten men of unknown strength. If anything dragging out the withered corpse of my first victim would strike at least a small amount of fear into my enemies, which would play to my advantage. The crowd roared out in excitement, as they waited for the fight to be announced. Their volume was quite annoying, making my ears ring, but it was just that, an annoyance. It didn't cause me any pain at all. All of a sudden the crowd went silent as one voice rose out. "Good people of Falmon today I Prince Peter am proud to announce today's contestants! From the east gate, we have the ten highway bandits, recently captured by the royal guard!". The prince paused as the eastern gate opened, and ten bandits walked out into the arena. All clothed in prison sack clothes, and wielding swords and shields. There was one level fifteen, three level seventeens, five level eighteens, and one that matched me at level twenty one. Each of them had titles of either murderer or thief. A loud "Booooooooooo", rang out from the crowd. "Now from the western gate we have a new beast. The likes of which have never been seen. A ravenous bloodthirsty killer, known as Dracul Bloodfiend, the vampire lord! He will be bringing out his cell mate and victim, Barnabas the thief who dared to steal from the royal family!". Loud cheers rang out from the crowd. It seemed I was the favored to win. As the gate began to open I knelt down in front of the dead thief and grabbed the collar of his shirt with my cuffed hands. The gate had just fully opened as a spun around and threw the corpse out into the arena first. I figured it would make for a more dramatic entry. The cheers of the crowd grew louder and louder as the dead body clashed to the ground, sending a small dust cloud out from around it. The cheers grew even louder as I am my way out to the sand. "Kill them all! Kill them all!", the crowd yelled. In that moment I had a flash back to the time I was free of cages. There with Alice in the open field, and I heard her voice whispering into my ear. "Kill them all Drac. Kill them all".
