"Aaand… that's the last of the evidence I have." Daniel said as he flipped Leo's file closed, "But it's more than enough."
Leo tilted his head slightly, "You're just giving a secondhand account though. You weren't with me during any of this. Why would I believe for a second that this isn't being made up?"
"Mathias, without the protection of the Wolves, nobody is going to let you walk free." Daniel opened the file once more and flipped towards the back. He quickly started pulling things out of it. He placed them neatly on the table and looked at Leo.
"This, is a list of witnesses saying you were the one who threw a Molotov through Mr. Whittemore's window. These are your prints from the scenes. This is your blood as well. We've got a lot more if you'd like to look through them, but you'll have to look through them in a prison cell."
Leo looked at a clock on the wall and thought silently for a moment. He spoke suddenly, "Hey, wanna know what you missed after I was caught?"
Daniel's eyes widened, "So you admit it was you."
"Pfft, duh it was me. You really think I give as much of a shit about this place as a year ago? I don't care about being that sneaky anymore, I left for a reason and came back for something outside my control. But, besides that, you want to know the rest of the story? I know you were too incompetent to figure it out for yourself, so I might as well tell you…"
"…Yeah. Tell me."
"Nuh-uh-uh. This is a deal."
"A deal?"
"Yes, I want two things and then I'll tell you what happened after the Schloss Adler incident. Can you do that?"
"Depends on the two things." Daniel said.
"I won't immediately tell you the second, I'll only tell you after you agree, although you can still back out at that point if you really want to."
"…" Daniel was silent for a moment, deep in thought, "Tell me what the first thing you want is and I'll see."
"I want you to beg." Leo said with a smile.
"Never mind, we have enough evidence." Daniel immediately dismissed Leo's idea and stood up, making his way towards the door.
"Aw… You're no fun Danny. You don't even have the smoking gun."
"What're you talking about? We have multiple smoking guns."
Leo chuckled with a smug face and a deep smile, "You mentioned me going to Trixlum Penitentiary for the rest of my life, right? Meaning you got enough for a life sentence, but why go for that when you can get me the death penalty?"
Daniel stopped in front of the door and stood there mulling over the words that came from Leo's mouth. He turned towards Leo with narrowed eyes.
"What's your game?"
"Well, I'd rather die than being held in a place like that for life." Leo said calmly.
"I don't believe that for a second."
"Is it really so hard to believe that I'd hate being locked away with a burning passion? Do I seem like a person who cares if they live or die?"
"…"
They looked at each other in silence before it was broken by a yawn from Leo.
"Look accept the offer, or don't, I don't care."
Daniel continued thinking to himself rather than answering Leo. He hesitated a moment before saying, "The second part?"
"No, no, no. You misunderstood, or maybe I wasn't clear enough. You need to beg before I tell you the second part of the deal."
"What?"
"You really think I'd just let you decide whether or not you take the deal without getting something out of it? Come on Danny, you know me." Leo said with grinning eyes.
Daniel frowned and looked at Leo. After a moment he turned back towards the door and opened it to leave.
"Aw, you don't want me to die. That's cute, I guess we really did become close recently…"
Daniel paused at the door and turned around without hesitation, he said with a plain face, "Please."
Leo frowned and poked, "Is that all your begs amount to? Gods, I do not envy your significant other. Your sex life must be awful…"
Daniel clenched his fists and said with slightly gritted teeth, "Mathias, please. Tell me what happened."
"Better, but still not enough."
"Mathias!" Daniel bowed his head slightly, "Please tell me what happened!"
Seeing this Leo laughed heartily, "Wow, you really want me dead don't you…"
Daniel pursed his lips and eyes showed pure hatred.
"Oh, this is more serious than usual." Leo muttered before signing, "Look Danny, the second part is something I'd think is fun."
"So, I'll hate it?"
"Hmmm, maybe."
Daniel sighed, "Whatever, what is it."
"From this point on, I will leave the room first. You cannot leave the room unless I leave it."
Daniel's face grew suspicious and scrunched up slightly, "That's it?"
"That's it."
"…"
"…"
"Then I guess I'll accept."
"Good! Get a bucket and a pen!"
"W-huh? A bucket and a pen?! What the hell are you talking about."
"You'll see."
"This wasn't part of the agreement."
"It's make things easier in the long run, just do it."
"…Fine. I already have a pen, but I'll go grab a bucket. Can this be the final time I leave before you?"
"Yeah. It'll be the final time."
Daniel turned and left the room. Once he left the room became eerily silent.
Leo sat back in his chair with an expressionless face, his eyes stared towards the one-way mirror on the wall. He slowly picked out some of the blood from underneath his nails.
A thought passed through his mind, "I wonder how many times I've lied today… I wonder how many truths I've given."
Leo looked at his face in the mirror. He looked at the blood dried on his face in thick layers. He looked at his eyes which seemed unnaturally unwavering.
"Young master, are you sure about this?" Grey asked, concern in his voice.
"It'll be fine."
Leo traced his finger along some scars underneath his shirt and he spoke softly, so softly that Grey had some trouble understanding him.
"It all burns down."
