"Security is coming!" Someone shouted.
"That's our cue to get out of here." Jenn said as she grabbed Vincent's hand and dragged him to the back left corner of the training floor.
Vincent still stunned by the displays of power and this woman coming to his rescue he simply followed along with her. He wasn't sure what they were running towards until he saw a small opening to a balcony. They slipped outside just as soon as security grabbed Brad. He stared daggers in there direction as they made their escape. Jenn pointed to a fire escape and they made their way down to the street.
"Get your hands off of me! Do you know who my dad is? He will have you cleaning toilets for a month for this!" Brad yelled as security restrained him and loaded him into an elevator.
Brad's dad is a captain and responsible for overseeing operations of the Andromeda training facility. No matter how much trouble Brad causes or how many rules he breaks, his father is always there to bail him out. He was seemingly blinded by the obvious nepotism and only saw his fathers actions as something he was owed. Today would be different though because instead of escorting Brad out of the building, they went up to the 19th floor where the captains office was.
"Captain Cooper, there has been another incident with Brad." One of the men said as they awaited outside of his office.
"Bring him in" the captain said in an angry tone.
"Dad! This punk came up behind me and pushed me forward. I had to act on instinct to defend myself when-" Brad was cut off.
"Enough! I am done with your excuses. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have to cover for you every time you start a fight? You are no longer welcome to train in the Andromeda facility. I am placing a year long temporary ban. You should take that time to work an honest day in your life and grow up." He said.
"But dad that's not fair! I don't belong out there with those people. You know I have a strong skill and I deserve to be in the alpha force but you won't let me!" Brad said with a childish tone
"I watched the cameras. I saw the way you were bumped into by mistake and you acted out of rage against an innocent person. You were acting no better than the trash of the opposition. Luckily Jenn was there to put you in your place. I should recommend her for the force after the courage and power she showed. I'll give you 10 minutes to gather your things then you will be escorted out of the facility." The captain said harshly.
Brad stomped his foot before leaving the office. He made his was to the elevator with his military escort to gather his things and leave.
Vince and Jenn had been walking for few minutes before they finally stopped. Vince failed to say anything still while Jenn looked at him curiously.
"You don't have a water power do you?" You're different than the others." She said.
"You're right. My power is fire and I just activated my skill so this is my first time at the facility. I went down to the 2nd floor to observe. I swear I wasn't trying to start a fight and I am sorry you had to get involved. I'm Vince." He said.
"I'm Jenn!" She said with a smile. "I know it wasn't your fault. The entitled Brad gets in a fight every other week but his dad runs Andromeda so he gets away with breaking the rules. It's normally a mutually fueled fight but I couldn't just stand by when he attacked you unprovoked." Jenn responded.
"I appreciate that. Thank you for standing up to him. Can I buy you a coffee at least?" Vince said.
"I'll never say no to free food!" Jenn said with a sweet smile.
Vince walked over to his favorite local coffee shop, Ethos, where he ran into a familiar face.
"Clive! What are the chances?" Vince said excited for some reason.
"Well it is the closest coffee place to Andromeda and training is exhausting so..." Clive noticed Vincent's smile start to fade. "Do you two want to join me?"
"Sure! I'm Jenn! Nice to meet you." She spoke up enthusiastically
Vince, Jenn, and Clive talked for over an hour about how they discovered their power. Their contrasting personalities seemed to vibe together perfectly where Jenn was definitely an extrovert, Vince was an introvert, and Clive was... well Clive but it worked. The guys got Jenn's contact information and invited her to their sushi plans with Clive's friends. It turns out they live near each other too so they all continued to talk as they made their way to their respective homes.
'That was exhausting' Vince thought to himself after walking inside. He hadn't had much interaction with others in a while so with all the events of the day and making two new friends, he was ready to turn in for the night.
*Bzzz*
Vincent's phone vibrated with a text message for a group chat.
Jenn typed first, "Hey boys! Today was awesome! Lets make it a habit. Want to meet up at Andromeda in a few days? I can't wait to see you two in action."
"Saturday at 2 in the afternoon" Clive responded first.
"Sounds like a plan." Vince responded.
Vince made it his goal to get some practice in before arriving on Saturday. They both had such great control over their skills that he didn't want to be the odd one out for not being strong enough. He set his alarm for 6 in the morning to get an early start.
