Chapter 11 - Solo Training

*RIIIINNNGGGGG*

"I hate this" Vince mumbled to himself as he struggled to open his eyes. He immediately began questioning all of his choices in choosing this new path in life. Is it really worth it? He could just go back to sleep and keep drifting through life. It was a tempting thought but his goals simply wouldn't allow for complacency anymore.

'Fine' He thought to himself as he pulled himself out of bed. He slowly put on his signature gym shorts and a t-shirt and finally made his way to the door. There was a section of his neighborhood that was paved for what was supposed to be tennis courts but it was never finished. It would be the perfect place to practice without risk of burning down

He decided to start by checking his SMART watch to go over his skill again to make sure he can understand the limits of the skill and push past them.

Name: Vincent Sullivan

Age: 26

Power: Fire, ???

Stamina: 1

Skills: [Flame lvl 1/3] - Create a flame on the palm of your hands that can generate heat up to 451F, about as warm as a paper catching fire.

So it seems like he has a few paths to focus on to garner more power in his skill. He can focus on the temperature of the flame and try to make it hotter and hotter. He could try to make the flame larger maybe into a fireball or something similar to what Brad did the day before collecting a large boulder of water he could toss. He stood there and though for a while before he finally decided what he wanted to do. Vince would try to extend the fire to cover more than just the palm of his hand. It could lead to the progression of a flaming fist or something even more exciting.

The sun was just starting to come up but the neighborhood was still quiet so it was as good a time as any to start. He held his hand out in front of himself and said "Flame" as the flame flickered above his palm. He held it there for a minute or so then decided to create a second flame in his other hand. He was able to hold both flames for a few minutes before he got tired and let the flames go out. He looked down at his watch and the screen was red!

It read, 'Stamina low- allow a few minutes to recover'. This is something new for him because he had only ever held 1 flame and not for very long. He thought about the skills he saw in the training facility and how much stamina they must require. Then how small his flames were and he was already out of stamina. Their only difference was that they had been training for a lot longer than him so he will get there- it will just take time. The alert went away on his watch and he was ready to start again when he noticed a change!

Stamina: 3

"That's awesome!" Vincent said out loud as he didn't expect for his stamina to improve so quickly. He quickly went back to training as he held a flame in each palm. with his goal in mind of expanding the surface area of the flame he combined the flame from his left hand to his right hand. The two flames danced around each other in his one hand while he created another flame in his left hand. He was not controlling 3 flames and if his thought process was correct this is his limit of what he would be able to maintain so he just needed to create one more flame to push himself. He added the third flame to his palm and finally brought forth a fourth. He quickly combined the flame into his right hand and watched as the 4 flames combined to create a low patchwork of fire above his hand. It stayed as it was for a few minutes before the flames went out and Vince was once again drained of stamina. He immediately regretted not bringing a snack with him. He repeated this a few more cycles before he managed to entirely cover his hand with flames. It was short lived before they went out and he had to cool down for a bit.

When he recovered he had a new alert on his watch!

Stamina: 32

Skills: [Flame 2/3]Create a flame anywhere on your body that can generate heat of up to 1000F, Hot enough to melt bronze. [Flaming Fist 1/2] Covers your fist in fire to deal extra damage with a punch. It has the ability to leave burn damage equivalent to the heat of the flames being controlled.

Vincent was in complete shock! He was able to level up his skill flame on his first day of really training it. On top of that- dd he manage to create a skill on his own?!? Most people only have 1 skill and it takes them years to develop. Vincent managed to create a new skill in just a day. He was glad he had the POWER watch to help him visually see what he was experiencing but he had to wonder how this watch could have know he created a new skill even before it was officially used. He had only ever gotten a skill from a marble which is how people who do not naturally develop a skill purchase one. He was excited to try his new skill out for the first time so he spoke out loud: "Flaming Fist".

The flames were no longer dancing above his hand, they were a part of his hand! He didn't feel any pain from the fire but it would be a horrifying sight if anyone were watching from afar. He suddenly got a paranoid feeling. Was someone watching from afar?
