Chapter 11 - 11. the Way of the Blade (pt. 4).

the shock lasted until my situation caught up to me, i then pointed the newly metal spear at the last demon, instead of greed and the other emotions that had been in its eyes, there was only fear now. another streak of fire from Rek prompted the demon to turn tail and run as fast as its legs could carry it. Rek landed next to me his wings cleanly folding against him. unlike Rek, i was exhausted and collapsed on the ground then and there, as if i'd ran a marathon. Rek stood guard while i regained my breathe, when i had stopped wheezing like an old man i propped myself up on my spear.

i then faced the metal scrap again, wondering what it was, then i was reminded of the poison via the leg closest to my wound giving out on me, panic started to set in but i reminded myself to calm down, think about things. when i had sufficiently calmed down. i realized that the poison must have been slow acting or i would have already died, since i had no idea what to do to clean out the poison i decided i should spend a little bit disinfecting the wound so it would not get infected, and since the only thing i had that could do it was Rek's fire, i dreaded it dearly.

sometime later, i limped away propped on my spear, Rek flying from tree to tree beside me, the metal scrape in my pocket, thus i spent the next 5 hours walking north, hoping to come across a village with a reasonable skillful healer.

as luck would have it at dawn, i arrived at the gates of a small town, and collapsed once again. that night i spent dreaming feverish dreams, but when i awoke, one thing had stuck with, the power i used to convert the jagged wooden branch into a sturdy metal spear, was called the Way of the Blade.
