This is a true story from years ago, that happened in the land of Asaya. A day after Prince Shaktidev, heir to the throne of Rakhtaprastha's, turned twenty five, his father passed away. Soon after, arrangements were made for Prince Shaktidev's crowning ceremony. On the day of the ceremony, Sage Mahathi visited Rakhtaprastha's court.
"O Sage Mahathi, greetings. Thank you for visiting our kingdom," Shaktidev hailed and bowed before the legendary sage, who was also the messenger of the heaven.
The sage thrummed his veena and sang his habitual phrase, "Narayan, Narayan," and then joined his palms to greet the future king. "Prince Shaktidev, I have come here to express both my sorrow at the passing of your father and my blessings for your succession to the throne."
Shaktidev accepted the sage's greetings with a serene smile. "Sage Mahathi, it will be my honor to receive blessings from you and the heavenly king himself."
