When Surya arrived out of the cave that afternoon, all he wanted to do was shout his joy from the edge of the mountainside, to the world below. Yet, when he looked down, he abruptly abandoned that thought. Guru Briharshi and Veer huddled by the lake, talking to a person who seemed like a rabbit from high above. Surya recognized the white fur coat as he carefully made his way down, stepping on the rocks. He recognized the frown on his companions' faces as he drew closer. Not too far behind him was Vidyut.
"Princess Asawari, regards," Surya addressed, rushing over.
The chatter fell silent and the three people turned to Surya. Indeed, it was Princess Asawari, who looked oddly shabby. Her green eyes were lined with swollen lids, as red and moist as her cheeks. Strands of dark hair had escaped her bun and slipped to her face. She wrapped her arms tightly around herself, despite her thick fur coat.
