"I heard it," Surya whispered in a small voice.
"What?" Vidyut found his words at last.
"The voice of nature," Surya replied, "It was Lord Shiva."
Vidyut stared at Surya with keen regard. "How do you know it was Lord Shiva?"
"Have you heard Lord Shiva's voice, too?" Surya scarcely seemed to hear Vidyut's question. He turned to Vidyut slowly, his eyes unfocussed. "He….I saw it….I saw it all."
Vidyut placed his arm around Surya and pulled him close, tipping Surya's head against his shoulder. "I apologize I was too harsh with my commands. You did well, my prince." Vidyut's voice was kinder than other times, his hands touching Surya's hair with affection.
"It all happened, throughout the Yugas, I saw it all, the destruction, the creation…." Surya mumbled, eyes bleary, the auburn of the evening sun illuminating his face.
