Holding Drishti up with one arm, Vidyut dragged him towards the stables but stopped midway. He spotted the empty stable from a distance under the flickering night lamps. Seeing the chaos in the Seraikhana, someone must have helped themselves with the unattended horses. Drishti grumbled the entire time, but his words were getting sluggish. Vidyut turned and started to walk back towards the entrance when he saw Surya emerge through the door and breeze down the steps, with his watchdog close at his heels. Surya's quick eyes found Vidyut carrying the injured prince, and he hustled to reach their side.
"The horses?" Surya asked, spying the stables.
"They are not here. We must leave by foot."
"What do you mean not here? Who took them?" Surya was incredulous. He just stood there, not budging, and Vidyut felt his hand curling into a fist.
