Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 - They Want My Autograph

Brand always felt Lorks city was a weird place. It could barely be considered a city, yet the place was able to gather a few S class adventurers. It was not the doing of the king. No, you could not hire S rank adventurers to permanently move to your town even if you begged with all your riches. Yet here a small city stood with a few staying around. Not to mention the king of Lorks himself, and now two new monsters had joined their little parade. He couldn't help but feel something was about to start.

"Wait. Did he say, 'Let's say I'm a swordsman'? Mm? Does that mean he had another class?" Brand was suddenly reminded of Riggs' earlier statement. He felt rather confused. Earlier with the way he moved, he could have sworn he was a fighter just like him, but then he suddenly picked up a sword while uttering those words, as if he had another class he could switch to. "That's impossible. He was probably trying to sound cool. Kids these days." He knew it was impossible. If he knew that, then why did it suddenly feel like an itch in his heart. Brand shook his head and threw it to the back of his mind and continued with the paperwork on his desk.

With Miss. Claire taking charge, she was able to complete everything needed to become an adventure without delays. By the time she was done, I already had my adventurer's card, two citizen cards for myself and my old man, and one small platinum colored plate held by a black chain that glistened around my neck. Slowly, and I do mean slowly, walking out the guild with my new level displaying on my neck, I could feel the jealousy, rage, unwillingness, and shock of some of the members in the guild hall. It made me feel nice inside. I stopped and gave them a few poses with my chest out, fully displaying my new plate, just so they could burn my image properly into their minds.

Just as I was about to make my way out of the guild, a few blocked my way. "Dear juniors. Why do you all look so constipated? Maybe you should drink more water and slow down on the hard bread. No need to thank me. It is my duty as your senior adventurer." Looking at their sour and squeezed faces, I could not help as their senior platinum level adventurer advise these silver level juniors. What a good senior I was. "And please, no autographs." If I gave them one, I would have to give everyone in the hall one as well. If that was it, then it would be best to schedule a date and charge for them.

I patted the leader looking one on the shoulder and walked through. It looked like my advice had gotten through them. They stood there with shocked faces, probably because they thought I would not talk with them. I was not the snobbish type of celebrity. Of, course I would talk to my juniors and fans.

"Hey, stop right there!" Before I could leave, one of them grabbed me and held my collar. I looked at his hand that was grabbing my collar and back at his ugly mug. I was contemplating on whether to fix his face for him or help him with his hand problem by completely removing it.

"Even if you are desperate for my autograph, I don't think this is the right way." I was feeling generous since I was a nice senior, but I did not like disrespectful juniors.

"Who the hell wa… AAHH!" Before he could finish his sentence, a crunch sound resonated throughout the hall, followed by a squealing pig. Even if I was a generous platinum level senior, I did not like being grabbed like that.

"Oh, don't be such a baby. It's only a crushed wrist. Why scream like a little child like that? Maybe you should train more and stop trying to chase for autographs." Why was everyone looking at me like that? Why the look of horror? 'Okay, I understand. There are probably horrified they could not get my autograph. Trust me, it hurts me more, but my autograph would probably cost a fortune, and I could not have them selling it while I get nothing'. I had to be strong. With a saddened farewell, I walked out of the guild hall.

The guild room descended into a horrifying silence. Earlier there had been rumors that the recruit the guild master was testing was going to be handed a platinum level plate for some reason. As for how, it turned out that one of the receptionists overheard it while passing by the office. How convenient that she only heard that part and did not hear the earlier part of Riggs' strength reaching S class. It was big news. A new platinum level adventurer in town and she was going to be the first to know about it.

As the hall gossip, she quickly came down to inform the other receptionists, feeling good about herself. Some of the adventurers caught wind of it, and before anyone realized, the entire hall knew about it. They were curious about who the monster was. As for those that had seen their guild master testing the recruit, they were confused. They had seen the person and he was young. Too young, in fact to be a platinum adventurer. Right? Unless he found a way to bribe his way in. They felt that even if he had skill, it should not be at the level of platinum. Not even the hero was platinum rank yet. Maybe he was from an influential family, and he was using his interest in the guild master's daughter to rise to the top? They had, after all seen him engaging intimately with the "ugly sister".

With that, nasty rumors begun to fly around the guild. Some of the older adventures especially who had been stuck in the low levels felt especially bitter. With that, a plan was formed. When the new kid came down, they would teach him a lesson in front of everyone. That way everyone would know he was a fraud. The only thing was, they needed to get it done quick. Fighting in the guild was forbidden. Although there were a few skirmishes here and there occasionally, all of that was quelled by the administrator Claire. As the guild master's right hand and a platinum level adventurer, she was a terrifying person to get angry.
