Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

While walking back to the warehouse, the trio noticed a few members outside arranging items. They looked incredibly busy as their hands were moving non-stop, not even sparing the children a mere glance.

Zephyr immediately slipped past Castiel and Ethan and left without a warning, holding his hand over his throat. He was sweating profusely, somehow, the other two didn't even notice his state. He rushed over to the blonde hair woman, and tapped on her shoulder.

Anesthesia was taken aback when she felt the unexpected touch, and when she saw the pale face of Zephyr, she reached out to gently touch his face, healing the boy at her own pace. She was at her limit after spending most of her powers on healing her comrades that were on the brink of death.

Damien was on standby near the staircase, watching over the progress before he saw Zephyr bursting in and limping towards Anesthesia, looking haggard.

Although Zephyr face remained as impassive and lifeless as ever, anyone could tell that he was in pain the moment they noticed his limp legs. His hands twitching violently.

Danny rushed over and accelerated his speed even more as he realized the major error he had made in his planning. The child suddenly stopped moving and fell to the ground like a pile of cards, his entire body giving up on him.

"Zephyr!" Castiel yelled from across the room. He started running towards the younger but when he looked in front of him, Ethan was already ahead, his eyes full of worry while his eyebrows furrowed in frustration.

When the chaos had settled down, Zephyr was laying unconscious on the bed while the others stood nearby, discussing on the issue that had just occurred.

Ethan was not planning on having a calm discussion in the first place, he had considered about it, but when he saw Zephyr in such a terrible condition, he let his anger take control of him. He held Damien by the collar roughly and set his fist back, everyone was having difficulty restraining him. Even though he was not extremely strong, his determination and flooding anger made him stay in position while he landed punches as hard as he could on the long haired male.

"You said.. that the button was an emergency button. I never thought you'd trick us like this. You bastard." Ethan whispered under his breath while still clinging onto Damien who had admitted defeat, standing there and processing his mistake.

Castiel was desperate to get Ethan off of Damien before an accident occurs, he used his strength to push off Ethan but he felt a sudden spark emitting from Ethan. He let go and backed off, astonished, he would have ever expected such a reaction from Ethan over someone getting hurt.

Anesthesia knew she couldn't stop the dispute so she ran out to get help from her allies who came dashing in at an incredible speed. Brandon stepped in and everyone agreed to let him handle the fight. In one swift moment he grabbed onto Ethan's arm and flung him off.

Being the persistent person he was, Ethan eyes began to spark with unfaltering anger, his grey eyes seemed like sharp blades that could kill with a glance. His presence was almost petrifying with the amount of killing intent he exerted.

All time went still, when they saw the large orange blazing light that was revealing itself in the palm of Ethan's hand. Brandon went in and pushed Ethan to the side of the warehouse to avoid him injuring the others, but he failed.

Ethan moved out of harm's way and went straight for Damien without turning back and giving a second thought about his surroundings. He was rather careless even though he was bright.

Knowing that, Claude point out his fingers and made a gun shape with his hands, wind surrounding the tip of his fingers like bees hogging around their queen bee, the bullet sped through the air at an incredible speed before clashing into Ethan's jaw, knocking him out completely.

Anesthesia felt her palpitating heartbeat slowed down for a moment, she let out a loud gasp and sat down on the bed, placing her hand over her face while tears streamed down her face. Overwhelmed, burdened, stressed, devastated and pressured were not even enough words to describe how she felt. She knew she had to stay strong to survive in this disgusting world, but she was weak and fragile till the very end.

Tina wanted to comfort her friend but she knew best to leave her be. She instead offered to drag Ethan's unconscious body to a bed and walked away from Anesthesia.

Castiel stood there, frozen. He didn't know what he should've done or would've done if Ethan had unleashed his explosion He hid himself away from the small crowd and found himself a spot to occupy, he ended up sitting at the exact spot Zephyr had sat on the night before. He stared at the sun, shining as brightly as ever, blinding him but he stayed unfazed.

"If only.. I was less of a coward." Castiel said after a while, leaning on the dirty wall while fidgeting with his clothes, trying to distract himself momentarily.

There was no reply to his statement, Castiel sat there, lonely like he had always been. Even before the pandemic even started, neglection was all he ever knew. If he ever wanted to receive the attention he craved so much for, he had to pleased them to the point of self destruction.

It was only then Ethan came along with his determined and care free nature that could forge a strong resolve into somebody and make them feel safe if he were on their side, he was a force to be reckoned with whether he was calm while evaluating his surroundings or blazing with anger as strong as a inextinguishable forest fire.

Zephyr with his ability to keep his composure in tense situations made him dependable, his constant serene state of mind was comforting. The straight forward personality of his allows him to be seen as a trustworthy person as he speaks no lies and only the harsh cold truth.

But what about himself? Castiel thought, feeling miserable. He had no redeeming features, no special traits that would be able to make him distinguishable amongst others of admirable talent. He was just a character that would fade into the background and evaporate into dust. He sat there, and criticised himself until he broke into tears silently and fell asleep.

Silently, Yasmine sat on the roof and watched over Castiel and vanished away when she realised she couldn't be of any help. All she could do was pack up the items and get ready for night time when the moon creeps up silently and bless or curse the world with it's mystifying glow for the night dive straight to hell.
