Suddenly a familiar dark deep voice boomed within the depths of the forest. To others it may seem like a misfortune for such a person to arrive at that peculiar point in time. But to the two who laid on the floor in defeat, it was a small sign of hope.
"Enough! didn't I say to leave the children alone?" Damien said, walking in between the chaos while the floor beneath them rumbled with great force. The fight ceased and the troublemakers stared at him in dismay.
However, to Damien's surprise, he was knocked back by a strong gush of wind and fell to the ground, before he was even able to create a strong vibration through the ground to put their mischievous actions to a halt. However, they were prepared and had planned for the unexpected.
A female walked up to him and created vines out from the ground and it started tangling Damien in its webs. He attempted to yell out a strict warning to dismiss their behaviours at once but he was put to sleep by a strange familiar mist that shrouded him.
"Now the trouble is gone, we can resume our party. After all, these filthy children aren't part of Thanatos so they don't count as comrades, we can definitely have some fun in a while. Our liege would definitely understand." A female with dark green hair and caramel brown eyes said with excitement lingering in her voice. She was soft but her voice could be heard, it was as if the forest resonated with her.
"I heard they are S ranks from Tina. You sure we'll get away with this?"
"We have a valid excuse. It has been so long that we have some new blood. Better kill them now before they get registered in." One said while he pulled out a handful of small knives from his coat.
Ethan slammed his fist into the ground in frustration while an explosion built up and exploded yards away from him, he had aimed for the group but his power went astray. He was not in coordination with his own power. He cursed at his lack of self control and attempted to calm himself down and gain back his momentum. However, they didn't allow that to happen. Wind starting forming beneath his feet while it slashed through the air.
He was cornered with no where to run, all he was able to do was get pushed around and knocked backwards by the strong wind that lift him off his feet. Soon, the person got bored and slammed his body against a thick tree, leaves fall off and branches broke off. That was how hard the impact was, Ethan felt like his spine would've broken by now if he only he was normal. They didn't allow any time to go to waste as they advanced towards him, only leaving one person to watch over the unconscious Castiel.
A dart shot right at Ethan and slightly missed, hitting right above his head. He felt his heart skipped a beat. What should he do? What if he ran right now? What could be the solution to get out of this mess?
"Oops, I missed." The person joked with a cunning tone. He was having fun. Playing with them as if they were dolls on a string.
No matter how angry he was, he couldn't lash out. Ethan knows that well but the anger continued to built up in him with no intention of stopping. If he had carelessly attacked now with no plan in mind while his power wasn't cooperating with him, things could escalate to a more dangerous situation than it already was. He glanced over at Castiel where he laid on the floor with no signs of life. Not even a slight movement could be seen.
"Cast...iel? " Ethan murmured, his voice cracking. If he wasn't so shocked, he would've been in tears. Slowly, he stood up and limped over to Castiel while everyone watched him with interest.
They stayed quiet as if they were entertained by the scene unfolding before them, they all stop their rain of attacks and focused on Ethan who seemed to be in his headspace.
Once Ethan came in range, everybody backed off and allowed him to walk and reunite with his friend. Whether it was out of pity or enjoyment, it was clear they weren't going to let them live.
The red-haired boy reached out to Castiel and started shaking him, hoping that he would show signs of waking up. But all he saw was blood spilling out from his gut while it soaked into the grass. Ethan's hands started trembling while he placed his hands under Castiel's nose to check whether he was even breathing.
Suddenly, a hum sounded all throughout the whole forest. This immediately got the attention of the attackers while they looked around frantically for the source of the noise. The ones who were stationed on the trees began moving and checking their surroundings using their binoculars.
Ethan however, ignored the strange sound and ripped off a piece of his sleeve to tie it around Castiel's arm to stop the blood flow from the wound.
The wielder of the black blade noticed this and furrowed his eyebrows, he walked over to the duo and stepped on Ethan's fingers and stomped on it. It made the boy growled in pain and glare at him.
"You should really get rid of that nasty glare that'll be the cause of your death." The person said.
Ethan ignored the insult and found himself shaking in fear. He hated the thought of someone he held so dearly just cease to exist in an instant. There was no way he'd let his friend die like that. No way in hell. He gripped Castiel's arm tighter and felt tears flowing from his eyes, mixing with the blood that was splattered on him.
He saw blood dripping from his face onto his white shirt and immediately looked behind to see what was happening, for all he knew the blood couldn't be his or neither Castiel's.
A silver light flashed by, blinding him. Ethan instinctively dodged even though it had already happened. He slowly looked up from the ground and saw a familiar figure swinging a sword like a maniac. He slashed and slashed while his eyes glowed a terrifying green that could make one's blood freeze up. His victims stood still as if they were hypnotised, soon, they all fall to the ground just like the trees they had damaged.
The boy's black hair fluttered along with his movements. His green highlights stained with blood, his face was pale, his cheeks were flushed to mark his exhaustion. He wiped the blood off his face using his sleeves. Slowly, his emerald green eyes drifted over to Castiel and Ethan. "Follow me." He said, not sounding worried in the slightest.
Ethan supported Castiel up and dragged him along while following behind Zephyr who was acting strange. He kept his distance away from the red-haired boy while not offering to assist him.
"We were attacked by them. They mentioned about having fun...and a liege." Ethan started, hoping to be able to converse with Zephyr to get a clue on how he was doing after the major injuries he had gotten.
Zephyr continued walking as if he hadn't heard anything at all. He soon reached a building that was different from the others, it was red in colour with a bright green sign in front. It stood out amongst the other plain brick buildings with plain and neutral shades.
"Zephyr!" Ethan called out when he spotted Zephyr turning around and taking his leave after opening the door to the building. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" he shouted in frustration.
Zephyr stopped and looked back, staring at Ethan whose hands were curled up into fists and with facial expressions that were leaking with anger.
"Wrong with me?." Zephyr repeated under his breath and quickly snatched a glance at the doorway and made a disgusted face.
"The healer is absolutely insane." He screamed whispered, his eeriness from earlier completely disappeared.
Ethan tilted his head in confusion before he flinched when he felt a hand gripped onto his shoulders. He looked back and up and saw a tall man glaring down at him and sighing.
"Come in, I'll get you guys patched up." The man said. He looked at Zephyr and flicked his finger. "Come back in you escapee." He scowled, looking pissed.
Zephyr disobeyed the man and walked away, heading from the direction he had just came from. He vanished in an instant as be blended in with the dark shadows of the underground.
"That kid!" the man said, looking outside after he had just accompanied Castiel and Ethan into the building. "I told him that he shouldn't use his powers. God dammit!."
Damien was left behind in the forest, he woke up after all the major chaos had ended. Now all he heard were groans of pain. He located the source of the sound and he saw a familiar person.
Felix, the one who controlled the winds. A rare S rank amongst the adults. Also, one of the strongest person in Thanatos, getting his nails ripped apart by a young boy. It was a rare sight to behold.
It was brutal, the boy stabbed the hands before roughly ripping off the nails. He questioned and questioned but the reply he wanted to hear was not given to him. It was not satisfactory.
"Why did you hurt them?" Zephyr asked, looking at the nails and realising he had no more to remove. Looking pissed, he looked at Felix's face that was twisted in pain.
Felix mind went blank, all the questions flew past his head. He couldn't comprehend how he was even beaten by such a mere kid, a person as strong as him. It was ridiculous. He must be dreaming, he ought to be. Before the pain hit him like a truck.
Damien stood there and watched the scene with hesitation whether he should step in. He remembered his liege's orders and sighed, he walked one step forward before he felt a chill ran down his spine. His gut instincts told him to back off and so he did.
Zephyr wasn't even looking at him. He only cared about one thing and one thing only. A proper answer he wants to hear straight from the person's mouth before all his teeth were smashed off.
"You do know that I could force the answer out of your throat if I had wanted to." He paused and bended the knife and the blade broke into fragments while it dispersed everywhere. "However, don't you think you ought to suffer for the trouble you caused for my acquaintances?"
"Who do you think you're are? Filthy barbarian. I could tell by the way you swung that blade." Felix scoffed, not backing down. He'll not allow his pride to be tainted any further.
