Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

After a few minutes, Anesthesia had arrived with a frantic look on her face due to the urgency her comrades had portrayed during their call. Behind her were Tina, Yasmine, Castiel and August who were holding stacks and stacks of files in their arms.

Looking at the scene, Castiel immediately dropped the files and rushed over to Ethan. "What happened?! I..I didn't expect it to be this bad." He blurted out quickly. "Are you fine?! Your neck.."

Anesthesia froze for a moment before snapping out of her head space and started healing Blaze before she withdraw her hand. "What exactly happened..? His internal injuries are terrible.. if the other two are the same like this, I can't possibly heal them all by today." She said, worried.

Every power has a limit, Anesthesia's healing power rely on her condition. If she's in good condition, her healing would be top notch. If she's injured or healed too many people at once, her power effectiveness decreases drastically.

"I'll heal them to the point where their..body looks fine again. We need to get back to our base and let them rest." Anesthesia was extremely serious, she looked at Kayden and Connor and gulped silently in fear of not being able to save her comrades.

"What did you guys find?" Claude asked, his eyebrows raised.

"Many files that elaborate on the kid's condition and what they do to them. We found a few documents about drugs they use..and so on." Yasmine replied, flipping through the pages to get a brief overview of things.

"We're done here. August, are you able to teleport us out? Or have you reached your limit?" Brandon asked, he was concerned about the condition of his comrades as it is one of his priorities.

August looked around the room before scratching his head, looking overwhelmed. "Most I can do is right outside this building, near the forest. If I do more I'll faint and be a burden you'll have to carry."

Everyone waited until Anesthesia was done healing the more critically injured ones before speaking again, scared of interrupting her deep concentration.

"I've healed the three to the best I can currently. However, you guys are still injured and that boy over there." Anesthesia paused and pointed at Zephyr. "He's not something I can heal." She confessed after seeing the boy's condition. She could sense something was wrong with him but nothing had happened when she attempted to heal the boy.

Tina placed down her bag and grabbed the box of green crystals. She took out 5 crystals and crushed them in her palm. Green dust started flying towards the others who were injured but yet healed.

"That should do for now." Tina said, looking at August and hinting at him to start his teleportation.

"Wait." Castiel said. "Who will carry uh..him." he questioned, confused. Pointing at Zephyr who was as pale as a ghost.

Kayden, Connor and Blaze were all being carried by someone as they were unconscious and unable to move by any means. However, they had completely forgotten that Zephyr had fainted earlier.

"He looks light, I'll carry him." Tina offered, walking towards the kid and pulling his arm roughly. "Someone take my bag for me." She requested.

"Be gentle, Tina. You might rip his arm off before we can even get to our base." August joked to brighten up the mood. It worked as people started to let out a silent chuckle while Tina glared at them. Her cheeks turning pink with embarrassment.

Ethan stood up properly with the help of Castiel while he kept a close eye on Zephyr as if he could disappear at any moment now.

August knelt to the ground and his hands started creating a white shimmering light, the light started forming a circle around his members and it enveloped them in a peculiar white viel before their surroundings changed to a familiar dark forest.

Damien stood in front and took the lead and everyone instantly reacted and followed closely behind him. They were all exhausted but nevertheless, they trudged on with all their strength through the small hills and rough roads until they had arrived at the familiar warehouse.

The critically injured were carefully placed on the bed. Anesthesia sighed before getting to work again, opening a cabinet and taking out packs and packs of bandages while Tina placed down Zephyr and immediately helped her friend.

Damien started rushing towards his desk and took out a device, clicking various buttons and turning back at his comrades and smiling ever so slightly. "I'm informing the higher ups about our successful mission. After this, we can most likely return to the underground." He said.

The others nodded and some stood behind Damien to listen in on the conversation as they were curious about their results and how will things go on from there. A new mission or will they returned after their members has healed?

"Damien Ashford reporting, mission 764 has been completed." He reported, his voice going back to normal. Cold and serious. He stopped talking and listened attentively before putting the device down.

"We are going back tomorrow during the noon. It is requested by him, he wishes to see the trio as soon as he could. Tomorrow Anesthesia shall do one final heal and August will teleport us back." Damien instructed, sounding annoyed at the hasty and ridiculous request that the supervisors had given him even knowing his members condition through Anesthesia's earlier report in the forest.

"Tomorrow?!" Yasmine spoke up. She was normally a soft-spoken and gentle person but the sudden request had taken her by surprise.

"That crazy bastard! There's no way we could take all of us back in such a short period of time, especially with so many of us injured." Brandon said, gritting his teeth.

"That's what he requests." Damien replied, not sounding happy about the news either.

Tina abruptly stood up and glared at Damien with fire blazing within her dark black eyes. She slammed on the metal desk in frustration. "He is absolutely ridiculous. He knows our condition and also, if we let Anesthesia heal again tomorrow, she'll strain herself and-"

"Okay alright! Calm down everyone! We'll take the time until tomorrow noon to recuperate so let's not waste energy getting angry, okay?" Claude frantically said, afraid of seeing a fight break out. He was more bothered about his members fighting amongst themselves rather than the demands of the higher-ups.

Damien looked at Claude and smiled, walking towards Ethan and Castiel. While the others continued with their business silently, feeling ashamed of themselves for acting like children and almost throwing a tantrum.

The sun went down and the bright glistening crescent moon revealed itself, rising from the east. It was finally night-time and everyone had retired from their duties and slept like logs on their beds.

Zephyr woke up with his whole body aching and bandaged, it was wrapped messily. He sighed while he placed his hand on his face, looking as if he was struggling to recall the earlier events.

He eventually got up from the bed and inspected his surroundings. It was terribly dark with only lasers of moonlight shining through the small windows in the warehouse.

He found himself walking towards the exit before his mind could register what his body wanted to do. His eyes widened in shock when he saw a unfamiliar scenery of a forest rather than a large metal wall.

Strange feelings bloomed in the pit of his stomach, it was probably the first time he felt this way. Feelings he didn't know what to title them as spread throughout his whole body. A small smile slowly forming on his face while his eyes twinkled.

Even if the forests looked dead and gloomy, this was the brightest Zephyr had ever seen the world. The celestial moon shone brightly in the dark lonely sky, it's beautiful radiant light dripping onto the surface of earth, engulfing the world in it's brilliance.

"The world looks so..bright,doesn't it?" Zephyr asked, unable to hide his contentment.
