Xyleria took a deep breath and put down her teacup and said "Mr. Lynford, I shall take your advice then. But I cannot agree to an engagement I have no idea about. On top of that, you probably heard from my grandfather that I do not have a long life to live. Having a long-term relationship doesn't fit with me."
Grandpa Einhart looks down, still, sadden by the hurtful truth that his granddaughter does not have a long life. Though he was happy he got a great-grandson, only to be reminded that his son and daughter-in-law left him too young. His granddaughter was his only reason to live. He was willing to give whatever his granddaughter wanted. He also wanted his granddaughter to experience what having a family is like.
When she was kidnapped along with children from the orphanage in the countryside, where they were visiting to spend their holiday there, he quickly sent out all his men to find his granddaughter. Xylena went missing for 3 years he felt his world started to crumble slowly, as each day passes, he started to feel empty and depressed. He could not focus on his work, which led his company into a bankrupt state.
Later someone offered to buy the company, he saw a child signing a paper to buy over his company. Through it was weird, the child gave off a majestic impression. The child offered him to continue the company once he settled his problems and lend him manpower if he ever needed it. In a matter of 3 days, his company was revived and was earning profit. It was then he knew this child is extraordinary and maybe the pinnacle of the economy. He thanked the child and continued his search.
When he was visiting his son's grave, he saw an unconscious white-haired boy wearing his granddaughter's right ear cuffs and found a note in his pockets. His eyes glimmer with hope, he called his men to send the boy to their private hospital and started the plan to rescue the other children who are also captive along with his granddaughter.
On the note, Xylena asks her grandpa to prepare rations and blankets and the estimated number of children, and the location. Although the operation is successful his granddaughter was missing from the facility along with a doctor.
He summons his men to track where the doctor went with his granddaughter, which he found in an apartment a week later, but the doctor could not be found. He found Xylena who had many tubes linking her to solutions, her eyes changed to bluish-green, memory loss, and she looked like a dead person as though there was no light in her eyes.
Xylena lost a lot of weight. He found a bloody cloth covering her tummy, the injury was not small, and quickly sent her to hospital. The doctor must have decided to kill her, seeing his plan not coming to fruition and disappear with the experiment data.
It seems that his granddaughter was the best test subject for the doctor. The leftover documents in the apartment indicate that his grandchild has to best compatibility with the X-0011 strain. As he read through, what test has been applied to his grandchild, he couldn't even see to the end as it was too cruel. He decided to give her a pseudo name to protect her from the mad scientist from finding her.
From this day onward you shall be called Xyleria my precious granddaughter Xylena.
