Chapter 13 - Do you believe in magic?

William understands from Xyleria point and explains "I too also don't have a much longer time to live. You will remember me one day. I hope not before I disappear."

"Why? Are you sick? Terminal illness or something?" said Xyleria as she widens her eye looking at him.

"That's a secret." As William whispered into Xyleria ear.

Xyleria rubs her ear as she finds it annoying. After chatting for 2 hours with her Grandfather, Xyleria was going to signal them to go home.

"Leria, why don't you let William and his son stay at your house? They just arrived today and have not found a house. Plus, he is going to be married to you. Take this as a practice round." Said Grandfather Einhart.

"Sure, never would I have imagined that my house will be packed. Why don't you also stay my dear grandfather? Don't you want to play with your grandsons'? Take this as a practice round." Said Xyleria while smiling at her grandfather.

Like Grandfather, like Granddaughter. Was what went through everybody's mind.

"I shall not extend my stay here. I'm going to play chess with my old friends" said Grandfather Einhart as he stands up and walks to the exit door. "I know you have no friends. Pass this to her for me. How can you call her old? She is younger than me. Tsk tsk… I will inform her that you called her old." Said Xyleria as she passed a document to her Grandfather.

"Are you trying to dig my grave? Tsk… Okay Goodbye everyone, this old man needs to see god for a moment." Grandfather Einhart went out. After bidding farewell to Grandfather Einhart, Xyleria asked Grandpa Kei to prepare for Lynford's family stay.

William walks Grandfather Einhart out to the door and said "Thank you for allowing me and my son to stay here and be engaged to your granddaughter" as he bows. "The end decision is up to her. I would not have believed that the child was my great-grandson if not for the DNA test. I wish you all the best." Said Grandfather Einhart as he steps into the car. Elijah also left and went back home.

Liam Lynford was sleeping beside Xyleria when the talk became too long, and he was jet-lagged. Xyleria carried Liam to her room to sleep, as the guest room was not ready. Sora followed behind half awake. She then also carried Sora to sleep on her bed.

The two men were left alone in the living room. "Nice to meet you Ryuu Tachibana. I am William Lynford." As he put out his hand toward Ryuu. "Nice to meet you too Mr. Lynford. I don't remember introducing myself to you before, how did you know who I am?" Ryuu introduces himself.

"That you don't need to know where I got my information from. All you need to do is stay away from my fiancée. Declared William as he sips some coffee.

"I do not need your permission to stay away from her. As long she did not kick me out of the house, no wait, we have a contract. So, it's not your position to declare your take on the situation." Said Ryuu as he walked to his room.

After putting the two children to sleep, Xyleria walked to the locked room and begun her research on the rock that so-called brought Sora and Ryuu to this world. Ryuu once questioned her why she believes them that they were transported to this world as it sounds ridiculous. Xyleria said "Do you believe in magic? In this world, a small number of people held magic or supernatural power. If something like dimension loophole or parallel universe it is believable in this world." Xyleria even demonstrates how magic works but then there is no know-how to learn them as she was part of an experiment. But the cost of the power is your life, the human body has its limitations.

You can't expect someone who wields the power to destroy cities and still remain in good condition as though it was a flick of a finger. They are bound to lose something, at that range, it might cost 100 power wielder life. It also depends on their mental capacity, some might try to save a life but only to turn to be mentally incapable at the end of the day. So, power wielders don't rely on their power to save every life they can.

There are people who say that since they don't have much to live since they wield power, why don't they save lives, as though they had nothing to lose. Due to this, an agency was created, laws passed, and insurance to protect power wielders. Those working for the agency can use their power without losing much.

People must know that using powers may cost wielders their lives, what rights do they have a say in somebody's life.

None.

It just the nature of the Universe law.
