After Sashi's death, my parents weren't holding it together, Shalini was in trouble because of me, but there was no way I could help them. Our first move proved us that we weren't the only ones wanting freedom. 10 August was the date for people all over Ghatodan to meet in Fazaipur. A small town filled with lakhs of people, posters were set everywhere across the town, speakers on every corner for mass communication.
Seeing these many people gather, the Rohas did shit their pants. The whole crowd sat in front of the gates, there were police jeeps and officers with guns standing on through the gate, trying to intimidate us. But like hell we cared, all the people were there, when I took the lead. I walked up, stood in the middle of the crowd of lakhs, and said, "For centuries we have lived as the oppressed, but no more. We won't take the Roha dominance anymore!" the crowd roared! The noise made the earth shiver. The energy these people had would've easily burned the whole world. I continued, "Now it's time, we take back…" the crowd was still crazy. I spoke louder this time, "…what is rightfully ours! We will bring down the Roha oppression." Someone shot a bullet; it went flying piercing my right ear. The sound caused commotion among people, the crowd stood up and ran for their lives. I still stood there and said, "The countdown has begun!"
I knew this would happen; the shooter wouldn't get another shot at me due to the bustling crowd. And smoothly I disappeared into the chaos. The noise was huge and gave off a weirdly powerful vibe. The gates were opened, four jeeps entered Ghatodan, they threw tear gases towards the crowd, the chaos was a worth watching scenario. Some policemen from the gates started open firing, the loud shouts, the gun shots, and people screaming slogans, jeeps driving, made me doubt if I'm doing the right thing, I was still running, in between the gullies when I heard noises of people taking bullets. Well, some sacrifice had to be made.
I knew they would attack so I went into the gullies, deeper and deeper. Fazaipur had such uncountable gullies, lakhs of people running and hiding into them. I exited the gullies on the Shahbagh-Fazaipur road, it was a fairly large road, closed down shops on both side, Naresh and few others were with me, and I saw two jeeps approaching. I stood in the middle of the road, as the jeeps came closer I shouted, 'NOW!' Naresh pulled the detonator he held in his right hand as the two jeeps blasted, the jeeps went flying and landed to my left and right. It was a win, although to some extent, but it was a win!
I took the mic in my hand and said, "People of Ghatodan!" my voice was being heard by entire Fazaipur, "This is our first victory! In the next few day, Ghatbors will win back their freedom!" the whole crowd stranded in Fazaipur roared and cheered!
It was a success, I knew they would attack, some people would die, but I was willing to let them die. I thought the jeeps were all they would do, but God I was wrong. Maybe they knew that something more powerful would be needed the silence these people. We had no idea what was coming.
