I have been learning how to dance for days.The girls helped with everything.The maids have been switching with me teaching me different things.Marie how to speak.Amber how to dance.And Lily how to eat.I have to be honest I didn't think that being a princess was so hard.So far I have mastered how to speak and eat.I am okay at the dancing part but haven't quite got it down yet.Amber is patient with me though and the other girls help where they can.At about 7:00 a butler comes and knocks on the door.Marie answers it."Good day miss.Queen Iliana has sent me to tell you that everyone is starting to arrive.The princess should start getting ready." Marie nods. "Thank you,Houston.We will see to it." "Oh and one more thing.The king asked for her to wear this tonight." He hands her a box,bows,then leaves.Marie closes the door and sets the box on the vanity. "Come on lets get you ready." They put the dress back on me and touch up my hair and makeup.Marie walks over and picks up the box handing it to me.I take it slowly and open it.Inside is half a silver medallion with hints of blue.It looks like half a dragon.Amber takes it out and wraps around my neck clasping it.She expertly hides it under my other necklace and dress so it doesn't clash. "Good luck tonight princess." I purse my lips. "Thanks Amber I am really going to need it." Lily laughs. "Relax your highness.You got everything right.The speaking,the eating,the dancing you got it all right.You will be fine." I sigh. "Well I guess your right.Are you girls going to the ball?" Marie shakes her head. "No.Only certain servants are allowed in to work.If we wanted to go then only a member of the royal family can invite us." Their faces fall. "Well as princess of this kingdom I hereby invite you to attend the ball with me tonight." Lily gives a big smile.Amber shakes her head. "Even so we have nothing to wear." Now it's my turn to smile. "I can help with that." I lead them into my closet and stand in front of my dresses. "Choose one." Marie shakes her head. "Miss we cannot.We are your maids." "Nonsense.I insist.Go ahead." Marie still looks skeptical. Definitely the leader of the three."But miss-" I place a hand on her shoulder. "Marie.Really.It's okay." Marie looks back at Lily and Amber who are nodding and smiling.She huffs. "Very well." The girls squeal and start rummaging through my dresses.Marie puts a hand on their shoulders. "Hold on.We still have to be respectful of status." The girls pout,but reluctantly agree.Lily finds a knee length pink lace dress with a diamond ribbon belt.I find a pair of sliver strappy heels to match.Amber finds an emerald green calf dress with swirly jewel designs on it.She chooses a pair of simple black shiny heels.And Marie finds a navy blue near ankle length dress.It is a sweetheart neck line and cinched from her right breast to her left hip and jewels dot the cinched line.I find her a pair of gold wedges that strap around her toes and ankles.I press the button Lily pressed and my new jewelry shows.I hand Lily a rose pink diamond necklace and matching bracelets.Then give Marie a simple sapphire encrusted gold chain necklace and thin sapphire bracelet."Go put them on." The girls hurry and slip into their dresses.Lily comes back first and the dress fits her greatly.The pink blends well with her skin and brings out her green eyes.Then Amber comes out and her skin looks a little lighter against the emerald dress.Marie comes out last and she looks amazing.Her blonde hair stands out against the dark blue."You guys look amazing.Now come on lets out some make up on you." Marie,Lily,and I work on Amber.Me on her make up with Marie and Lily on her hair.We rotate out until all of them are done.Their makeup matches their dresses and the jewelry sparkles in the light.I rush them out the door and close it showing the mirror.All of the girls smile.Marie turns to me and bows."Thank you m'lady.You have no idea how much this means to us." I smile. "Your welcome.I just felt bad not having you guys at the party." A knock sounds on the door. "Lady's it's time to go." Marie,Amber,and Lily smile. Amber looks at me. "We have to go your highness.Even though you invited us there is still a few things we must do." They bow to me then leave.A few minutes later another knock sounds. "Destiny it's me." Queen Iliana. No not queen Iliana.Mother. I mentally scold myself. "Come in." She enters and I can't help but stare.Her dress is an off gold color with see through gold shiny fabric over top of white silk fabric.The sleeves are off shoulder and long tightening at her wrists. Some of her hair is woven into little intricate braids and pulled back,the rest of her hair is down and curled slightly at the ends.Gold make up lines her blue eyes and a soft pink lipstick defines her lips.A simple gold crown rests on her head. "Come now the dance is about to start.Now I will be downstairs with your father and there is a seat for you beside him.Wait a few minutes after I leave and when you here your name announced come down." "But I don't know the way." "Oh it's easy darling.But to prevent you from getting lost I will ring one of your maids." I smile gratefully. She pulls the rope once and Marie appears. The queen smiles. "Why Marie you look beautiful." Marie blushes. "Thank you your Majesty.If it wasn't for your daughter I would not look like this.She is very kind." The que-mom nods. "Yes she is." I smile. "Now Marie I need you to help her to the ballroom." Marie nods and bows. Mom leaves the room stopping and looking back long enough to give me a reassuring smile. We both wait in my room for a few more minutes and then a trumpet sounds. Marie grabs my arm. "That's your cue.Come on.I will lead you there,but I can not walk down with you.It's just courtesy for royalty.Now come on." She leads me out and down a wide hallway then stops at a corner. "Okay. This is where I leave you." An alarm goes off in my head and I start to freak out. "Hold on Marie.I don't think I can do this." "Yes you can m'lady.You were able to learn how to dance,talk,and eat like a princess in a matter of days.I know that a ball is different and there are more people,but just remember Lily and Amber as well as myself will be there.Just remember that." I take a deep breath and nod.She disappears down a hallway and I take a few short breaths.When I feel my heartbeat slow and get my breath under control I slowly walk around the corner. I step out and am greeted by hundreds of pairs of eyes. Most people are still carrying on with their conversations but some look at me. I scan the crowd and find who I was looking for.
