Chereads / My Vampire Deskmate / Chapter 4 - Matchmaker

Chapter 4 - Matchmaker

Samantha and I arrived a couple minutes early to class and checked in to our homeroom. The day flew by in a daze with Cindy stuck daydreaming. Cindy avoided Quinn because the dream still resounded in her mind and she didn't have the brain capacity to deal with him. She walked home and decide to see if her worries were just something her brain made up on a suger rush.

"Hey dad, I had a really weird dream. So you and mom were talking about vampires and how they can become humans and that kind of stuff." Cindy said while taking off her shoes in the living room.

"Sigh, that wasn't a dream." Her father replied.

"I was a vampire and I became human after having a sip of your mother's blood. In fact our new neighbors are vampires too."

"What? Our neighbors are vampires?!" Cindy felt like shouting, but instead gritted her teeth to keep from yelling at her father.

"Yes, It may be hard to believe but even if I'm no longer a vampire I can still sense other vampires, and I'm sure they can sense me as well." Cindy's father explained.

"Isn't it dangerous for me than?! with my so-called better tasting blood?!" Cindy did shout this time, but in concern of her own well-being.

"No it's fine because only their son, Quinn, is still a vampire. His parents are human now."

"How is that better?!" Cindy stormed off to her room. and slammed the door.

'Hah! I knew there was something wrong with him, just never thought I'd be this crazy.' Cindy thought.

'Maybe I shouldn't have yelled at him, he was only trying to explain.' Cindy felt guilty about raising her voice at her dad.

'I will apologize at dinner...' Cindy told herself before falling asleep.

Dinner never came. Cindy slept through dinner and the whole night.

*Beeb beeb beeb*

Cindy's alarm went off signaling that it was time to get up. Cindy slept through her alarm because she was stuck in an odd, yet amazing, dream.

The sun was setting on the water and she could feel the sand in her toes. The ocean lapped against the shore as she sat building a sand castle. With her were Samantha and Quinn. Samantha was helping her build the sand castle while Quinn was swimming. They were all in their swimsuits and had their flip-flops were by the towels. Eventually Quinn came back to help build and they made jokes and laughed together. Cindy forgot any unpleasant emotions and sat imbetween Quinn and Samantha. Suddenly Samantha pushed Cindy into Quinn and they kissed. Sadly all good things have to end as Cindy woke up. Blushing ear to ear Cindy sat up and smacked her head thinking,

'How could my stupid brain dream that!?' Cindy was blushing before she noticed her clock. It read; 7:40 A.M.

"I'm going to be late!" Cindy bolted to her closet and got dressed, she didn't have time for a shower. She ran out the door without breakfast and ran full-speed to her school. She was late. Cindy got to school huffing and puffing while wiping sweat off her forehead. She went straight to first period and checked in. It was another partner activity and Quinn started to approach her, Cindy saw him coming towards her and quickly grabbed a person without a partner and asked to be their partner. She couldn't even handle looking at Quinn right now, much-less be touching him in some sort of way! Quinn stood with disappointment clear on his face. One of his newly gained friends partnered up with him. The activity wasn't as hands on as Cindy thought but she was still relieved she wasn't partnered up with Quinn. She made it through the rest of the periods before lunch without looking in Quinn's direction. During lunch Samantha and Cindy sat together as always and chatted.

"Hey you know what? We never talk about your neighbor, Quinn." Samantha mentioned.

"Ugh." Cindy grumbled with her ears flushing red remembering her dream.

"Hmm... Be honest, he's hot and you like him that's why you kept hiding behind me when he was near." Samantha said referring to all the periods they had together.

"Wha-what!? Li-like him!?" Cindy sputtered turning red.

"Like who?" Quinn asked as he sat down with his tray.

"Oh hello Quinn, we were just talking about how much Cindy lik-" Samantha didn't finsh before being muffled by Cindy's hands.

"Oh nothing! Nothing at all!" Cindy said hurriedly.

"Hmm, I could have sworn I heard Samantha say I you liked me. Am I wrong?" Quinn said with a smirk.

'This guy! He heard it all! He just wanted to tease me!' Cindy thought angrily. Cindy still blushed at the sight of Quinn because seeing him would remind her of her dream.

'Even in my dream Samantha is playing the matchmaker!' Cindy clenched her fist thinking it was Samantha's fault for making them kiss and making Cindy rember it every time she sees Quinn's lips and face.

Cindy took Samantha out of the cafeteria while stile covering her mouth.

"What were you thinking?! Telling him that I liked him!" Cindy muttered.

"So you do like him." Samantha smiled and chuckled.

"Hey I'll help you out don't worry." Samantha winked.

"No I don't want you to help out!" Cindy said before leaving with a sigh.

"Hmm, I see... To embarrassed to admit it. Lucky you, you have a great friend who understands you." Samantha mumbled to herself.
