Aron quietly followed the goblin into its cave. There were winding paths which snaked all throughout the cave. Aron shuddered at the thought of getting lost in the cave.
Fortunately, the goblin collected its loot near the entrance. Aron thanked God for making goblins stupid. Then, he waited until the goblin left the cave and began appraising all the items.
In front of Aron, was a pile of items which beginners mostly used. Not that Aron wasn't a beginner. There was a rusty sword, heavy armor, an empty backpack, and some rations. Aron didn't have any need for these items, and since they were used, they couldn't be sold for much money.
Aron peered further into the cave hoping to find some sort of treasure. As he searched, he could see a glint of gold shining from underneath the cave floor. Immediately, his heart started beating faster. It felt as if the item was calling out to him.
Aron slowly inched toward the item he saw, hoping it was a treasure. As he carefully dug the treasure out of the ground, he let out a gasp of surprise. It was an apple made out of pure gold. He quickly tucked it underneath his shirt and made sure no one was looking. Then, Aron took a bite out of the golden apple to test its authenticity.
The light in Aron's eyes diminished as he discovered it wasn't pure gold.
"The higher your expectations, the harder you fall." Aron muttered to himself, swallowing the bite he took.
However, as soon as he swallowed the bite, Aron took back the words he said. An emotion of pure ecstasy showed on his face. It tasted better than anything he had tasted before. As if in a trance, Aron took more bites, each better than the last.
Then, breaking out of the trance, Aron wondered what kind of fruit he was eating and if it was poisonous. Aron immediately used his appraisal tool on the fruit.
However, just as the appraisal was cast, the goblin returned to the cavern and let out a shriek.
