We got the packing done the night before, we even loaded everything necessary in Leone's Jeep. And he just would not shut up about everything and I mean everything to do with his new life with Rain by his side in a new pack, like a normal mated couple, you know, dates, picnics, normal couple stuff.
It was sweet but still, part of me could not stand the fact that he had his mate to talk about while I was wondering when I would meet him and if he would want me. If he would stand before me and look at the person that has murdered countless people without hesitation or any sign of regret.
I announced that I was going to bed to get some rest before the trip but I couldn't find my sweet sleep.
I spent the whole night thinking about my mate, what kind of man he would be, what position he would hold, what personality he would have if I would tell him my truth, and finally if he would accept me after. I was sure by morning I would have dark circles under my eyes.
As predicted, I woke up with unattractive dark circles. I did my morning routine but didn't apply any Makeup to cover my dark circles as I would be in a car most of the day, brushed my waist-length raven hair and I then went downstairs yawning.
"Don't you look fresh and ready to hit the road,"
sarcastically said.
"I know right! You look, Malik," Leone's annoying voice commented.
"Shut up," I growl at them. Don't blame me, a night with zero sleep tends to get someone irritable and very moody. And these two creatures were not making it easier for me.
Marros and Lionel exchanged looks and whispered lowly.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the galaxy."
"You are gonna need all the luck you can get if you will make it to Silphium pack in one piece."
"Moon Goddess pleased help me, I have just recently met my mate, I don't wanna di-"
"Holy mother of strawberries, I can hear you am not deaf!" I yelled and full of rage I left the room to find some strawberries. But before I shut the door I heard Marros mutter.
"It was nice knowing you Lionel."
We completed breakfast without another outburst on my part and now we are at the Vulton pack to pick up Rain. We had attracted quite several curious teenagers. They all wanted to see the famous twins that have been to countless wars and deepening on who's the side we were hired, victory was assured. That was how we made a living.
I refused to get out of the car because silly me still had dark circles under my eyes and I didn't cover them up. So here I was waiting for Leone to complete whatever he was doing inside those walls. The thought of completing something reminded me of my unfinished series.
I was halfway through my episode when an excited-looking Leone excited the pack house with Rain right by his side.
"Let's hit the road, baby sister," Leone said.
"Am only 7 minutes younger than you," I smartly said.
"Worst 7 minutes of my life! I had no one to annoy," he said back.
"Hi, Malik," Rhiannon said.
Being the antisocial person I am, I ignore her. But unfortunately for me, Lionel gives me that look that has me in a twist. I put on my most realistic smile and say, "Hello, Rain, isn't the weather lovely today."
The weather, really Malik Couldn't you have thought of something else like her family or even her health, a simple 'how are you?' would have done the trick but to my luck, she either did not notice or did not care.
"Yeah, it's perfect for driving, hopefully, it will stay like this until we reach Silphium park 8 hours from now!"
My smile dropped and I looked at her smiling face in pure horror.
"8-8 hours from now?"
"Yep," she answered with an annoying smile.
Lionel had a proud smile at how well she handled this situation effectively backing me the corner.
"Let's get to it then, Rain. you get the front seat, Malik, get in the back," Alec said.
And that is the rude awakening for every younger sister when your brother finds a mate, his mate automatically becomes his first and you will be his second-first.
I mumble ridiculous, immature words to myself but never the less still get in the back seat and finish off my series and about 3 hours later, I finally got some sleep.
I was woken up surprisingly gently by Lionel, which is saying something considering it's my brainless twin brother we are talking about.
"What's wrong?" I immediately asked as they looked down at my sleepy figure.
"You slept through the entire ride, we are here now," Lionel said.
I took in my surrounding, we are at a restaurant. My gaze returns to Leone in a silent question and lucky he got the message.
"I thought you might want to get some food before we head to the Alpha, Rain and I have only had junk food the entire time, we could use some real food. Plus our escort to the pack is meeting us here," Leone said answering my silent question, to which I nod and get out of the Jeep.
I head straight for the washroom to freshen up and make sure my unattractive dark circles no longer graced my face. After that, we entered the dinner and the bell above the door rang. Not only did the bell notify the available waiter to attend to us but also notified my wolf of the presence of her mate.
'Mate! Mate is here,' my wolf, Sarai, finally spoke to me, we have had a few conversations, for some reason she says we are not able to talk much until the binding Mark at the base of my neck is removed.
I act as naturally as I possibly can so I don't alarm Lionel, he might make a fuss about it, and honestly, I am not ready for this kind of relationship. I guess one could say am scared of this, having someone to love, take care of, and be with for the rest of my life.
As soon as we enter the dinner, I feel a piercing gaze at the back of my head. I couldn't take it anymore, I risked a glance. My deep blue eyes met a beautiful pair of grey eyes, the brightest shade I have ever seen and they were staring right back at me.
