Not that she cared much for it. As long as the current Director was at the helm of operations, she was safeguarded from being hunted down. She didn't care about the security of the rest. In serving his selfish desires to stay in power, she would probably help a few people along.
As long as she survived. That was the only purpose of her life, right? To serve, to follow every command without question, and keep her mouth shut about the rest.
She placed the drink in front of Ladislas. He watched her closely.
"It's close to the last call," he commented. "He really wanted to talk to her privately."
Her eyes fluttered close as she thought about it. "I'll call you when I am alone. Don't save the number, understood? Don't call back." She gave him a no-nonsense look.
He nodded eagerly. "This is my last drink. Bring me the bill after this, okay?"
For some reason, the seats beside him had not filled in. Everyone just sat at the tables.
