"You should at the least knock before you come into someone's room," the woman countered after composing herself.
Ladislas shrugged. "I was never human, to begin with. I don't follow your kind's manners, honestly," he said lightly. "But I still know that using a loved one as a hostage is the lowest form of cunning."
"I don't know what you mean," she said, smirking.
Ladislas rolled his eyes. "No need to pretend. You already called me to this 'church' of yours. Might I add that the walls are too white? It looks like a sanitarium rather than a church. Not much difference in the kind of person that frequent this place, though." He snorted as he looked around the room.
There was no dust on any surface. It was safe to say, the little church freak lady really liked to remain clean.
"But you did come here for the little girl, did you not?" she asked. "Don't worry we can find her on your street. I have better connections on the street than you do."
