Chapter 189 - Mana Blasts

Seph and None sighed, their hands by their sides. They knew what they had to do, but their confidence was at zero. After all, they were fighting the most unreasonably overpowered figure they knew, and it wasn't going to turn out well.

None readied his weapon as Seph did the same, getting into a fighting stance. They needed to defeat Aaron or even kill him. That would be a long shot, though, as killing him would be something mythical. They both knew what they were doing, and with this final understanding, they ran off towards the monster, who had the form of Aaron Stone, with the intent to at least save him in their minds.

They jumped into the air, ascending to fifteen metres in the sky, their swords glowing a bright cyan. Aaron looked at the blades in confusion as if he didn't know what they were. He may have been possessed, but because his mind was overloaded, Soul didn't have access to most of the information in it, leaving Aaron's body like a feral animal. A creature that was only interested in its survival and it'll do anything to help it achieve the goal of survival.

Seph and None swung their blades at Aaron, creating powerful slashes of light that streaked towards Aaron like a hunter tracking down its prey. Aaron watched as the attack passed through his ribcage, causing him to point and laugh, but then the attacks changed direction, quickly turning around and hitting him in the back of the head like a truck. Aaron's feral body screamed out in pain as a pink liquid leaked from the impact zone.

That was when Seph and None realised what they needed to do.

"We need to destroy his bones! If we get all that pink liquid out, we'll be able to save Aaron! At least, we might be able to. It's just a theory." Seph exclaimed, jumping the gun on his theory, but None believed that Seph was on the right track. If they got that pink liquid out, they might be able to do something about Aaron, and this was their only idea at the moment.

Seph and None silently agreed on the plan, and they continued to attack Aaron, but with a new mission in motion. They closed their eyes, and within a second, their swords fired out ten shots of mana each, resulting in twenty different bolts of blue mana, an unpure version of Aaron's mana formation, which he can do effortlessly. Seph and None actually have to concentrate so that they can purify it to Aaron's level. For this situation, it's better to go for quantity over quality, so that's what they did.

The attacks impacted Aaron's body, but they dealt negligible damage to his bones, and only a lucky shot at his elbow caused the pink blood-like substance to drip. Aaron let out a scream, his vocal cords all screechy from his new form, piercing Seph and None's eardrums, causing them pain.

Aaron lifted his hand up, a ball of cyan, purified mana forming in his enlarged, bony palm. He slammed his hand down, and the ball of magic flew down at a frightening speed. Aaron notably wasn't using any of his Boundless Skills. That was for the sole reason that he COULDN'T. Soul was the one who was in control, and he could only control corruption and not anything else.

Seph and None looked at the oncoming ball of mana, and they didn't know what they could do. At least, until they decided to go with the last resort of an idea. They would attack the ball of mana directly and try their damned hardest to deflect it back towards Aaron. It was their only shot at dealing massive damage in this state, as both were tired from their previous battle with the unnamed white-haired man. They prepared themselves, and Seph felt adrenaline running through his veins.

"Let me take this one by myself. I have an idea!" He yelled at None, who let him control the body by himself. They usually worked in tandem, reading each other like open books, but for the first time since they accepted that they were bonded together, he couldn't tell what Seph was thinking, and he was just ready to watch as Seph did his thing. However, before he gave up control, he increased their combined power by making his half of the body entirely black.

Seph, now in control of the body, lifted the sword into the air and channelled untapped energy. It wasn't mana, but he was, for the first time, using his inner self to fuel his attack. At least, that's what he called a soul. He smiled as his eyes glowed yellow, and he felt his actions become autonomous. Seph felt his body rush towards the descending ball of mana as if he was on a pre-programmed course of action. His swords glowed the colour of his eyes, and he slammed the flats of his blades into the ball of magic, interacting with it as if it was a physical object. He pushed his arms forwards, pushing the ball forward as he did it, not a noise coming from him.

Like a robot, he rushed up to Aaron, his swords still glowing, and with a smile on his face, he swung his blades at Aaron, and once one connected with Aaron's body, Seph knew it was game over. "Illusionary Sword!" He yelled, forcing Aaron's mind to imagine he was in a different area. A peaceful place of plants, flowers, and a calm sense of self. There were three forms of Aaron sitting down in the flowers. Aaron in his normal state, Soul, and a miniature version of Aaron's monstrous state, as they sat on a hill in a ring of flowers, looking at the sunrise on the horizon.

Seph and None walked over, curious as to what was going on. Each Aaron Stone looked behind themselves and stood up, knowing what was about to happen. "Heh. So, I guess this is the end of my control." Soul stated, smiling. None walked over to him, and with a sigh, used the katana to slice him at his neck, his Soul returning to Aaron's chest. The miniature version of Aaron's monster form radiated an aura of purity, putting the tip of his index finger on Aaron's chest as Aaron watched him get killed as well. Instead of simply disappearing, however, a soul appeared in the body's place, and it slowly floated towards Aaron, entering his chest where it had pointed. With a final sigh, Aaron looked towards Seph, who had his usual sword in hand, and with a sorrowful look on his face, he put his hands in the air. As Aaron prepared himself for impact, he heard the sound of metal hitting the ground.

"There's no need for this. After all, you're the original."
