Alec didn't really understand what was going on. First, the person who forced him to do jobs for pay was running away in fear. All because of the man in front of him. Second, that same man was offering him an adventure. There was an offer in front of him, and only an idiot wouldn't accept it. Alec extended his hand, clasping Aaron's hand with a firm grasp.
"I'd be more than happy to join you!" Alec replied, a smile on his face. A little bit of curiosity had turned into an opportunity. "Although I have to tell you, I'm not that strong. I can handle a normal summoner at best." Alec responded, informing Aaron. Aaron just laughed, causing confusion to spread across Alec's face.
"My name is Aaron. Aaron Stone. It doesn't matter how strong you are, Alec. Strength comes with persistence and time, and even if you don't get power quickly, it will come down the line. There's always the option of me giving you some strength temporarily." Aaron re-assured Alec, letting him know that strength isn't the most important thing. "So, tell me, what is your relationship with the man that went crawling away?"
Alec sighed before beginning his explanation. "Well, my mother is incredibly sick, as the medic in town said he couldn't figure out what the problem was. She can't provide for the family, so I have to go out and do jobs to pay for the herbs she needs and food for me, my mother, and my little brother since he's only five. He can't work yet." Alec explained, somewhat sad at having to explain the situation. Aaron let these facts sink in. 'The kid is worse off than I thought.' Aaron thought to himself. 'If he comes with us, his mother is in danger, and his brother will starve. Isn't this a predicament?'
"Listen, Alec. I didn't think I'd have to do something like this today but bring me to your mother. I'm going to heal her, or at least try." Aaron responded, causing Alec's eyes to widen. "You...you'll cure her?! How?! The medic told us it was incurable and even told us to let her die!" Alec yelled in surprise, shocking Aaron for a moment.
"Alec, let me tell you a fact of this universe. Nothing is truly impossible. My entire body is a statement to that fact. I can do what others call impossible. I am what people call impossible. I shouldn't be alive right now if you want to put it that way. A person I know reminded me of that." Aaron admitted to Alec. Alec looked at Aaron with hope in his eyes as he began to run off towards his house. "It's this way!" Alec yelled as he continued to run. Aaron looked over to Monument, standing there like an unimportant background character and rushed off, using his speed to catch up with Alec in less than a second. Monument quickly followed suit, making it look like they teleported away.
They soon arrived at Alec's house, which wasn't too far from where they were before. Alec walked inside, and the strong scent of herbs almost making a green cloud in the air. Alec walked inside, as Monument began to cough like mad due to the smell. Aaron was alright, as he didn't need to breathe or smell anything.
Lucky Aaron.
"How the...how the hell are you not coughing, Alec?!" Monument complained before letting out a string of almost painful coughs. Alec turned to face him, a smile on his face. "I've been in here enough times to build up a resistance!" He responded before turning his attention to his mother. "Aaron, this is my mother. Are you able to diagnose what's wrong with her?"
Aaron got down on one knee before asking the system a question. 'Hey, System. Would you mind telling me what disease the woman has? I want to see what it is.' Aaron asked, curious as to see what the answer was.
[Sure, give me a minute.]
{Maire Conway}
{Afflictions: Lung Cancer}
[Also, I found what the herb is. It makes sense why it helped.]
{Oregano}
{Oregano is the richest source of antioxidants among herbs, as it slows cancer growth and promotes apoptosis, which is cell death. It carries antibacterial properties and is a natural disinfectant.}
[Honestly, even I didn't know any of this until scanning these herbs.]
'System, thank you so much. Now I know what I'm trying to cure.'
Aaron turned his head to Alec before breaking the news to him. "You're mother is currently suffering from a disease called Lung cancer. Lung cancer is a disease in which some of the body's cells grow uncontrollably, and they don't know when to stop. The only reason the herb you have is working is that it is Oregano, which is full of stuff that combats cancer, although the way you have it set up isn't the best." Aaron explained, piecing together the information he knew and what the system told him.
Alec had a look of horror on his face as he looked at his mother before wondering where his little brother was. He had to take care of him after all. A small child closed a door behind Aaron as Alec walked up to his brother. "Alec, what is that strange man doing here?" Alec's brother asked in fear as Alec brought him up to Aaron. "Ben, this is Aaron! He's going to cure our mother of her illness!"
"Hey, I said I might be able to. I'm not sure how far my power extends yet. After all, cancer is a notoriously hard disease to cure." Aaron warned before placing his hand above the woman named Maire. 'System, I have no idea what to do, so would you mind taking over for this, if you can.' Aaron asked, provoking a little mechanical laugh out of the system.
[Sure. Let me take control.]
Aaron felt his body being controlled not by him but by the system. It was strange, seeing his own body moved by someone else, yet he could see it like it was his own vision. Aaron watched as the system activated Boundless Telekinesis to project his eyesight into the woman's lungs. You could see the cancerous cells everywhere. Aaron watched as the system used Boundless Telekinesis to obliterate the cells at the same time. It was absolutely amazing. No blood or cells were left behind.
Aaron felt his eyesight return to where his body was, and the first thing he saw was a worried Alec.
[Done!]
"Aaron, what happened?! All we saw were purple sparks in the air!" Alec exclaimed, confused as to what happened. "Well, if you want to first talk to your mother, go ahead, Alec," Aaron responded, moving out of the way, revealing Maire looking at Alec.
"Hey, Alec."
