Chapter 21 - Skelengelis

"Oh, so I've got three evolutions available to me. Well, I know which one I'm choosing anyway, but what is this 'Addition'?"

[Additions]

[Once a certain hidden quest is completed, you have the option to add an extra set of abilities to your evolution, which comes from additions. They do not usually affect your evolution, they just add abilities. Of course, some do alter your evolution in a positive way.]

"Well, this is interesting. Let's see what shall be obtained by this."

[Skelengel of Death]

[Adds customised abilities based on your status, and fighting style. Grants Unique Ability 'Skelengelic Scythe'.]

[Skelengelic Scythe]

[Summons a scythe for you to attack with.]

"Well, this will be useful. Let us see what happens when I activate this along with my chosen evolution..."

[Evolution Skelengel Mk. IV and Addition Skelengel of Death have been chosen.]

[Proceed?]

[>Yes<] [No]

[Skelengel of Death of fusing with Skelengel Mk. IV!]

[New evolution created.]

[The Holy Black Skelengelis (Skelengel Mk. IV)]

[Evolving...]

[Unable to remove consciousness. Proceeding with evolution...]

Aaron feel to the ground, clutching his armoured chest, as his body began to feel pain like no other. Even the pain of Skelengelica wasn't anything compared to this. He wanted to scream, but he couldn't, as his bones began to turn black, like they were decaying. This wasn't the case, as you could tell.

This was all an effect of his new evolution, allowing himself to evolve further beyond. His body didn't change shape, but his bones transforming could deal great pain, even more than Skelengelica. This was called 'True Pain', because it wasn't designed to kill. Only to transform, and injure.

His body began to relax a bit, as the pain began to lessen. He took off his helmet, and took off his right armpiece, to find that his bones were now completely black. Great. He looked like a demon. He looked over towards Light and Yua, to find that they were still asleep.

He smiled inwardly, as he put back on his armpiece and helmet, and fell asleep in his suit of armour. He wanted rest, and so he would get his rest. He would check his new abilities once he was fully rested and he had let Light and Yua know that he was OK.

Below the group, two floors down, a shadowy creature rested upon a large throne, as demons from all over came to bring gifts to their Lord. The demon of the shadows had been born, and the prophecy had stated that a demon born of shadows shall lead them to rule against the humans.

This demon laid around in luxury, appearing to all demon as a god who ruled over them with an iron fist. This demon was many times more powerful than your average demon, and considering his "level" and area of birth, his health points were in the hundreds of millions.

The reason why level is quoted is because he doesn't have one. It's just an estimate. This demon grows more powerful with each passing day, and nothing can measure him. Not even a god would be able to measure his strength.

The Demon Lord's assistant ran up beside his throne, and asked him a question.

"Excuse me, Lord, should we not go to attack the humans now? You are surely powerful enough to beat them!"

The shadow being put his hand in the air, signalling rejection of the idea.

"No, I won't. There's one human standing in my way, and I need to be powerful to beat over them. Bishop Erskine Rote. He has the power to end me, should I face him as I am. I need more power so that I can contend with this monstrously powerful human, and win."

"As you say, my lord."

The assistant then ran off, to alert the officials of the news. They wouldn't be happy, but what the Lord says, they must follow. The prophecy says that if they don't, the demons will lose the upcoming war against humans, and they will be eradicated.

The demon alerted the officials of this, and, as he predicted, they weren't happy, but they had to suck it up and deal with it, or else they would all die, and nobody wanted to be the cause of that.

The demons had a battle plan already laid out, with their Lord as the centrepiece. The normal demons go and attack the various town scattered around the surface, while the royals and their Lord would attack the main kingdoms. They had the entire plan set, with almost every probability or possiblility covered. There was only one unknown factor in this situation.

Aaron. What could Aaron do? Kill them.

But he wasn't strong enough to do it on his own, so he had his Corrupted Demon Yua and his Shooting Star Dragon Light with him.

They would need to get stronger though. Although, the demons weren't the only ones planning something.

On the surface, the Arch Bishop was talking with the other Arch-Bishops, and the one true Bishop, Erskine Rote, about a plan, although it had nothing to do with the demons.

"Bishop, we have uncovered some news that requires your immediate attention", said the Arch-Bishop who was confronted by Aaron.

"What is this news, Mark?"

"We have found a skeleton, but it's no ordinary skeleton."

"If it's a Lich, we don't need to hear about it."

"No, Bishop, it's something much more dangerous. A skeleton with infinite mana, the ability to speak, and the ability to control things telepathically."

"....Wait a second. You're telling me something like that exists on our Holy Planet? How did you find out?"

"They confronted me, once after Laurel Anarpov found them, and once of their own accord. They wanted to properly speak to me on the second time, because on the second time, they were able to properly speak."

The Bishop held his head in his hands, while making sure his mitre didn't fall off.

"So, you're telling me that there's a monster roaming around on the first floor with insane abilities that haven't been seen in a monster before?"

The Bishop, after saying this, stayed quiet. His eyes opened wide, as he realised something.

"Oh fuck... We sent a group of adventurers down there today."
