Chapter 9 - The Great Expanse

Aaron floated to the ground, pulling out one of his ribs, and turning it into a blade, like he has done in the past. He broke into a run, as he prepared to slice into some enemies. Monsters were everywhere, so there were plenty of monsters to choose from.

For clarity, the Bone Blade is simply a rib which has been sharpened by Bone Blade, giving it the same cutting power as a karambit knife.

He ran up behind a large snake, and ran the blade along its back, cutting it from its tail to its head, severing it in half.

Aaron then rushed up behind another one of the bears that he had killed earlier, and jumped into the air, while swinging his arm.

For a second, it looked like nothing happened, but then. The head of the bear fell off, and it fell to the ground, crushing a large ant in the process.

'Hey! This is actually a great exercising method! Not that I'd need it, but I can see why adventurers in games that I played before were always fit!'

Aaron thought that as he ran up to a large, monstrous bird, which was screeching at him, preparing to swing his Bone Blade. He swung at the bird, as it tried to block the swing with its black beak, but the blade shattered through thhe beak, causing the bird to recoil backwards, as Aaron swung at its neck with a vicious swipe of his blade. The birds head went flying into the air, as purple blood sprayed from it, soaking Aaron and some other monsters in it.

Aaron then grabbed the body of the bird, and began dragging it along towards the nearby wall of The Great Expanse. He began to carve out a hole in the wall using his bone blade, so that he could eat his food in peace.

He used his bone blade to plan out a shape. A simple cave would do, with an open entrance, so that he could fit food into it. He pushed his blade into the wall, as he began to carve out large segments. After about twenty minutes of, surprisingly, uninterrupted work, he had made a large cave for himself. The cave was about five meters in radius, and it went on for ten meters.

He dragged the body of the bird inside, and began to carve out chunks of flesh from the body of the bird. He shoved those chunks into his mouth, and they disintegrated within his body, allowing him to just keep eating.

After about ten minutes, the bird was nothing more than feathers and bones.

[Bio Points: 104]

The bird was of a higher level, and was an evolved monster, presumably, so it only made sense for it to give more Bio Points than the bear he ate before.

He reasoned that if he wanted to get better luck with essentially anything, he'd need to upgrade his luck stat, but when he went to go try upgrade it, it wouldn't work. The system doesn't want him getting too lucky.

He decided to put it into attack, and agility, so he could be stronger, and faster. They were both the same ons tats anyway so it would make sense to upgrade both at the same time.

[Attack: 131]

[Agility: 131]

This would benefit him in the future, and now he had zero bio points remaining. The other monsters that he had killed had been eaten by other monsters at that point.

Aaron decided to test the nature of monsters. He needed to knew how the worked. Brute strength wouldn't always carry him through fights, so he needed to know how each species of monster worked.

He picked up one of the bones of the 'Avian of Dark', and flung it out into the crowd of monsters. They didn't even notice it. They were too busy fighting other types of monsters, or even amongst themselves.

'Alright, I've learned something. They only focus on killing monsters, of any type. That means I can distract them, unless I go and attack them, which usually wouldn't be the smartest idea.

He did have two Atk points, but he wasn't going near them yet. He didn't know anything about magic or the different types of skills yet, so he wanted to get better with the skills he already had. It was to make sure that he was competent with the skills he was able to utilise, before he went on to harder objectives.

He decided to practice his Bone Throwing ability. It was certainly an ability he needed to utilise more, but he came up with an idea.

He put his head in his hands, and activated Bone Blade on his skull. Although he couldn't feel it, his head started to become something like a sawblade. He then got his body to fling his head at a nearby monster.

His body flung him with quite the amount of force, giving him large amount of rotational force, causing him to spin rapidly. His head slammed into the back of an upright snake, severing it in half. Aaron expected his head to stop, but it just kept going. It rammed into a nearby Black Bear, hitting it at the base of its skull, causing it to shatter the spinal cord, whilst also drilling into its skull. Aaron got his body to grab his head before it caused any more damage, as it came to a stop.

Aaron smiled internally, as he looked at the dead bodies of the two monsters he had killed, using his own head. He dragged them back to his cave, one at a time, so that he could enjoy this rightfully killed meal. He walked inside of his cave, and dragged the monsters in. He coiled the Basilica around the Red Bear, so that it would fit.

He was about to start cutting up a meal, when an unfamiliar voice spoke to him from the cave entrance.

"Got room for another?"
