Aaron looked from behind the carcasses of the Bear and the Basilica, and saw a human standing there. He held a sword in his right hand, and a shield in his left. The human did not appear shocked at the sight of a winged skeleton, but that as only on the surface of his emotions.
The human's thoughts were going haywire. He thought it was someone from the Holy Church activating a wing-type ability, but no, it was a monster. He wasn't going to let it show, however. If any emotion appeared hostile, he might get attacked.
Aaron tapped the ground beside him with his bony hand, indicating for the human to sit beside him, which surprised the human. He didn't expect a monster to show any signs of cognition, let alone hospitality. He pointed at himself, questioning the gesture, to which Aaron just nodded.
The human sat down beside him put his sword and shield on the ground. Aaron then pulled out one of his ribs, and turned it into a Bone Blade, and began carving out pieces of the Basilica. He placed some pieces on the ground infront of the human, which surprised him even more.
A human and a monster sharing food. You'd never see that anywhere else.
"So, can you understand me, skeleton? Are you able to speak?"
Aaron decided to write his answers into the floor, by carving out words in the floor using his Bone Blade, which was sharp enough to act like a pencil.
'Yes, I can understand you, but I cannot speak. Lack of vocal chords, you see.'
"Ah, that makes sense. Tell me, why do you share your food with me? I didn't expect you to be a monster. I expected you to be part of the Holy Church with those wings you have."
'It gets so lonely down here. Monsters kill monsters. Nothing else changes. Sure. There's the rush of it all, but once it's done, what come next? More killing? To be honest, I don't know what comes after. Death, possibly. All I know is that it's boring being alone.'
"You are one strange skeleton. I know of humans who would absolutely be the opposite of you. They kill for fun. Humans, monsters, it doesn't matter to them. They'll do anything for a price."
'Mercenaries. Must be on hard times.'
"Tell me. Why are you down here? You have the thought process required to live up there, so why don't you?"
'Discrimination. Fear. Terror. What do you think people would do if the saw a skeleton with wings, or skelengel, flying or walking about? They would scream. The humans would become terrified, and I would be killed. I don't want to die again.'
"Wait. Again? You've died before?"
'Yup. And I revived myself, thanks to an ability. It was scary though. My bones were shattered. Now, skeleton bones are tough, so having them shattered in an instant is something scary.'
"Wow. That must have been some powerful monster. Also, if you got introduced to the public by the Holy Church, you wouldn't be discriminated against."
'I was kidnapped by a person from the Holy Church, and had to talk to the Arch-Bishop just yesterday. I'm not going back so soon.'
The human just looked in shock. Kidnapping? Well, it was a monster, so they didn't use human law on him. Still, the human wondered why the skeleton had been captured in the first place.
"Here, the names Yera. Yera Flyte. Do you have one?"
'Aaron. Aaron Stone.'
"Oh, so you do have a name, huh? Well, this is an interesting development. Anyways, do you want to get back to eating?"
'Sure.'
And with that, Aaron cut up the Basilica into smaller pieces, while removing the scales from it, and handed a few of them to Yera.
'Let me know when you get full. I'll eat the rest.'
And with that, they continued eating the snake, as the scales piled up beside them. Those scales sold for some decent money.
Aaron ate the last of the Basilica, and was then alerted to a new title he had obtained.
[New Title Unlocked]
[Snake Eater]
[Obtained by eating the body of a Basilica. Reward: New Skill]
[Hardened Body Breaker]
[Deal 25% more damage to monsters which are coated in scales, or have a defensive buff active.]
Yera sat on the ground, not eating any more. He had eaten quite an amount of monster meat, so of course he'd be full.
Aaron started pulling chunks of meat out of the Bear, like he wasn't full. He wasn't. He never was.
"Jesus, you have some stomach capacity, Aaron."
'Don't have a stomach. Infinite capacity.'
"Ah, makes sense. The food turns into nutrients, which are then automatically absorbed by your body."
'Basically, yeah.'
Aaron just kept eating the bear, cleaning the meat off of the bones, leaving only the skeleton and the fur left over.
[Bio Points: 471]
Damn, that's a lot of Bio points. Possibly due to the difference in level and the sheer quantity of food he had consumed.
He decided he wanted to upgrade his attack, speed, and his defence. It made sense in his mind.
471 divided into three stats equally is...157 increase in those stats. Wow.
[Attack: 235]
[Defense: 351]
[Agility: 235]
Those are his new stats. Quite impressive for his level.
Aaron pointed towards the fur and the scales that were in the ground, as he carved something into the ground.
'Take these and sell them, if possible. It should help you make some money. I don't know the economy up there, but I hope it helps you out.'
"Thank you, Aaron. These items are actually hard to get in stock, so people will want to buy these as soon as they can, so they don't miss out."
'Glad I can help. Now, go back up to the surface and sell. It should make you a lot of money.'
Once Yera left, Aaron was alone with his thoughts once again, and the first thought that came to his mind was:
'I have some ideas I need to test out.'
