Chereads / The Wedding Contract / Chapter 34 - Frustration

Chapter 34 - Frustration

As soon as the reporters saw Riya storming out of the house, they swarmed and attacked her like sharks moving towards bait. She felt like the same scared little girl who felt helpless and lonely throughout childhood, once again. This was why she hated feelings. Whenever feelings were involved, it got messy. Sam was her only friend for a reason. She never let anyone in her life because she knew it always hurts.

Dhruv was completely capable of hurting her, but she didn't expect him to do it in reality. If it was someone else, then maybe she could've digested it. But it was Dhruv! He was never this cheap!

But now there was no use thinking about all that. She must pull herself together before there was a stampede among the reporters. She swiftly pushed out of the crowd and locked herself in her car. People formed a barricade around her car, not letting her drive away. She sat inside until they calmed down and immediately ignited the engine once an opening emerged.

She finally drove out of the garage. She couldn't control the tears for some reason. Job was the only important thing in her life for so long. When did Dhruv take that place? When did she start loving the bastard? Was there something wrong with her that all the people she ever loves were such psychos?

Irritating questions popped up in her head, constantly making her more furious than the minute before.

Why Dhruv? Out of all the people that were looking to draw her blood, it could've been anyone else, but why him?

Now, she was no longer thinking about Riya's Choice. Her mind was filled with Dhruv, he was the centre and core of everything she ever did.

Was everything just a game to him? All fake? It didn't seem so at the moment.

Was it possible that he lied to her? But he seemed so cocky to have lied! He had no reason to lie about it in the first place. If it was someone else, he could've just said so. She was amazed that even after getting so humiliated, her stupid brain won't believe that he did it all.

She pressed on the accelerator a smidge too hard and drove straight home. Before she let herself to feel beat down and depressed, she needed to know. To know the truth.

If Dhruv was the one who actually did it, then she wasn't planning on leaving him alone. He had the guts to think that this would keep her inactive? Shut her in home?

Riya wasn't such a weak person. Problems and death threats were just part of her daily routine. Because she fell for Dhruv, she didn't analyze him properly but she won't be repeating the same mistake ever again.

She decided that she'll make Dhruv regret why he was even born.

This was unacceptable. She trusted him and let him come into her life. But he fooled and betrayed her completely. Before anything, proof must be found. And then she would plan on what to do with Dhruv and how to make his life miserable.

With so much frustration, she reached home. The way she parked her car like a crazy person spooked many reporters out of the way. Hence, they didn't dare follow her to the door.

Sharan opened the door as soon as she pressed on the doorbell. He let her in and closed the door immediately.

"Why did you resign?", was her first sentence as soon as entering the house.

"I didn't feel like working for someone", he replied nonchalantly like it was pretty obvious.

"But that's what you were literally doing all these years", she said annoyed.

"There's a difference! I was working for you.", he said and continued like it was nothing, "What do you want to drink? I was just making your favourite hot chocolate."

What was he trying? Was he cajoling her?

"I'm talking something serious right now", she fumed.

"Yeah, me too. My hot chocolate is cooling off!", he went inside the kitchen.

How come he was so calm like nothing happened?

She roamed around the house, but her dad was nowhere to be found, so she assumed that he might've gone to the company. As if, that even mattered!

Riya took a seat on the couch when Saran entered with two glasses of hot chocolates. He passed her one. She finally gave up and took it from him.

After what she had been through, she definitely deserved a date with her favourite drink in the world.

They both sipped their drinks slowly, in silence, each drowned by their own thoughts.

"Did you talk to Sam?", he asked her out of nowhere.

She had come home after a long time and from Dhruv's house but why was he asking her about Sam? Had he gone crazy after quitting, she wondered.

"No… She kept calling but I wasn't in the mindset to talk", she replied as a matter of fact.

"Hmm", he continued with his drink when she was expecting him to continue the sentence.

"Why are you asking about Sam suddenly?", she asked curious.

"Nothing great! Just talk to her when you find time", he offered and left the room taking her empty glass in hand too.

That was completely out of line and weird. Why would Sharan tell Riya to talk with Sam? Riya's friend? Only explanation could be that Sam would've come to their home and created a big scene complaining that Riya wasn't picking her calls.

'Ugh! She's so dramatic', Riya thought before calling her friend.

**Ring**

"Sam", Riya said.

"Riya… Oh my god! I'm so sorry… I'm very very sorry, Riya… Are you safe? Are you fine? Where are you right now? We need to meet immediately.", she blabbered like water gushing out of a broken dam.

"I'm fine, Sam. In my father's house right now. I am…."

Riya didn't even finish her sentence, but Sam cut her off mid-sentence, "I'm coming there, Riya. Please don't go anywhere else before I meet you. Bye!", and she cut the call.

Riya sighed deeply. She surely didn't want to meet anyone at that moment. Now one more thing to deal with! Ugh!
