In the outskirts of the Imperial City
A man, sitting in a wheelchair, was smoking a pipe waiting for his subordinate to report. He had an average physique but sharp eagle-like eyes, and a powerful aura. His one hand was holding a pipe and another hand was busy tapping the table. He was thinking about the recent events and their connection with each other.
Soon his subordinate came. He had a strong and tall physique and a cold aura. He was the right-hand man. He reported, "Boss."
That man in the wheelchair opened his eyes and put down the pipe on the table, "What is it?"
That guard replied, "Boss, how is your condition now?" "Better," that man said. He asked further, "Did you find the identity of that old man?"
The subordinate replied, "I couldn't find his identity but I am sure that he wants to help us desperately. For the last whole 5 years, he was the one who continuously monitored you and made you alive. He is a genius boss! He is our benefactor."
That man thought about it. The accident that happened 6 years ago almost made him lose his life. He heard that he was in a vegetative state for more than one year. One day, an old man came saying that he knows how to make their boss alive. The body started showing slow improvement because of his treatment.
"Did he tell you what does he want in return?" that man asked. The subordinate replied, "He didn't yet but..." he paused and then continued, "he is interested in our search about that kid."
The man in the wheelchair stopped his knocking hand. He asked, "Don't let your guards down in front of him as of now. Also, what about that kid Demon Lord? I heard he is missing since that day," he clenched his fists while asking about him. The kid is the main reason for his misery. He underestimated that kid too much! He wished to hear about that kid's death.
His subordinate replied, "Boss, we have a major piece of information about him and we are working on it." Fire sparks were clearly seen in his eyes. He and his team were clearly defeated by that teenager.
He started to tell what he found about him,
"Boss, that day, after that accident with us, he escaped from our trap, some of our guards went to find him and almost caught him. Still, even if he was injured, he successfully knocked out all of them.
Later a guard regained his consciousness for few seconds and saw the real face of that kid behind that silver mask and then passed out. That old man managed to treat that guard. He told us about his appearance. We couldn't find him for many years until last year. One of our men caught him in the City K itself. Here is all the information about him." by saying this, he passed on the file to that man. The man replied, "Tell me about him in brief."
That subordinate nodded and continued, "His name is Wang Lufan, the only son of the Minister Wang of City K. He is a doctor by profession. The Wang family has clear background but their son used to be a part of the underworld. He went abroad just after a month from that day. He is now living in the Imperial City and working as a fourth-year resident doctor in the Life Hospital.
Strangely, he has not joined the underworld for the last five years. He never contacted anyone from the underworld. We are keeping an eye on him now."
The man in the wheelchair had a confused face. A doctor? That kid who was literally ruthless like a demon is now a doctor? Coming to think of it, he is the son of Minister Wang? The one from City K... is quite impossible.
That Demon Lord was the follower of The Lion, the king of the underworld of that time. The Lion was an old but ruthless man and it was said that the demon lord was his right-hand man. Everyone from their clan used to listen to him and he became second-in-command of their clan in just two years. In those two years, he solidified the power of The Lion in the underworld such that almost everyone feared their clan just like old times, but he always kept his face hidden under a silver mask. Nobody knew how he looked except for the clan leader, that is The Lion.
How can that ruthless kid become a doctor? A person who used to kill people like nothing is now saving other's lives? That would be a huge joke. Either he is successfully deceiving the underworld or something is not right. He asked his subordinate, "That's it?"
The subordinate replied, "There is one more thing… which may be a threat to us." That man asked, "What is it?"
The other one replied, "There was a witness present that day." The man's forehead creased, "A witness?"
The man in the wheelchair got nervous when he heard that there was a witness present on that day. He wanted to know more about it so he asked his subordinate, "Who was it? Tell me everything in detail."
The subordinate said, "Before losing consciousness, the guard heard the conversation between them. It was the voice of a young girl. She had helped that demon to treat his wound and revealed our trap."
The man was amused. How can a young girl have helped that demon instead of fearing him! thinking of something he asked, "You said that she told him our trap, that means she knew about us?" The subordinate shook his head and told, "No boss, she told him what she has seen outside, she was not sure about it."
The man asked further, "How did you verify that the Demon Lord was Wang Lufan? What about the identity of that girl? Find her as soon as possible."
The subordinate started to tell, "Boss, actually that day, not all of our men attacked him; some were waiting for him at the end of the secret passage, it was the trap. Our men were waiting for that silver masked demon but no one came.
Instead, one of our guards saw two teenagers passing from the road, so he overlooked it. When we asked them recently to confirm, we got the recording from the car's black box camera of that day. We got a bit blurry picture of Wang Lufan and then confirmed it with that sub-conscious guard. When he confirmed, we were finding him but all the data about him was wiped out.
When we recently got the information about him, we bribed an old servant of Wang Family and asked about that girl. That girl was the daughter of Minister Wang's friend. I have researched about her, she is also from a clean family. Wang Lufan never contacted her since that day."
That man commanded, "Follow that girl and find out how much she remembers about that day. If she does, shut her mouth." The subordinate got the meaning behind it and accepted the order.
Suddenly, that man said, "Wait, let us use her as a bet to lure out that demon. If she is really important to him, we can use her in the future. Leak the information to him about the kidnapping plan."
The subordinate told the rest of the story of that day and then reported everything that happened in these years. When everything was done, he bowed and left.
The man in the wheelchair once again started knocking on the table while staring at the two profiles. He couldn't believe that demon is now a well-known doctor; having a peaceful life after making his life miserable. He looked at the profile of that girl and one line caught his attention. The name of her school; he heard it somewhere.
He then remembered that his dear nephew was also in the same school. While looking at her pictures, in a group photo, he found a familiar face. That boy was his dear nephew! So his nephew was her friend. He started laughing, "Hahaha... now it will be easy to reach her."
Somehow he found that girl's profile interesting and started reading further. Another familiar thing caught his attention, she will be soon joining the Song Empire! He became happy after finding out the different ways of trapping that girl to lure that demon out, just he has to care for her deeply.
While looking at Wang Lufan's picture and his mood changed. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't fully accept that he is the same demon lord that everyone in the underworld used to fear. The look in Wang Lufan's eyes, and the cold and empty look he saw that day were polar opposite!
He still promised himself that he will make that Demond Lord's peaceful life miserable and return what he got by a thousandfold! He strangled the picture of Wang Lufan and continued smoking.
