A full moon brightened New York, and shoes clicked the sidewalk. Two officers chase a teen in a brown jacket.
"Hey! Stop!!" An officer shouts, running past civilians with his hand on the holster. The Teen dodges incoming civilians and runs out into the streets.
Cars and trucks come to a stop to the Teen running by, but a taxi goes to hit him.
The Teen vaulted into the air and onto the other side of the sidewalk, gaining eyes.
He took off running as the Officers followed while the Taxi driver gazed at the blood handprint on his slight bend hood.
He picks up speed by passing civilians like a Cheeta before leaping from the sidewalk and onto the roof of an apartment building.
The Officers follow along the sidewalk gazing at the pursuer in sweat.
"I hope...you guys. Seeing this!" The second officer pants, watching the teen leap rooftop to rooftop with ease: The Teen leaps on a vent and a barrel frontflip to his feet without losing his superhuman speed.
"Where the- Move!!" He side-step, causing the man to drop his boxes of pizza. "Back up?!" His Radio hums.
"We're almost there."
The teen pants while tears in his eyes. He gazed at his bloody hand and sleeve and looked away: panting.
The Teen noticed a gap between the streets of cars and another building on the other side. He charged, gaining speed, leaping across the busy street of lights, and rolling onto his goal.
He stood up and gazed, noticing the officer's struggles against heavy traffic.
He goes to leave, but a Police chopper rises, shining a spotlight on him, causing him to wince while his clothes flatter.
"Stop!" A mic wallows while the loud blades cut through the air. The Teen goes to run, but swat members burst through the doors to the roof, aiming their guns at the boy. "You are surrounded."
"Get down!" Swat member ordered while the boy raised his shaky hands.
"I-I didn't mean it!! It all happened so fast?!" The boy's lips shake.
"Hands behind you're head!".
The Teen's tears roll from his cheeks and onto the rooftop cement. He places his hand behind his head, only for a portal to swallow him whole.
...
"HAAAA!!!" He screams, flipping like a madman down the tunnel of colors. Doing so, he changed into different beings. An Adult with a heavy beard. A Lego version of himself, A human-like wolf, and an emo version of himself.
He turned back to normal while a godly voice echoed in his mind.
"You're looking to a restart...K?" The boy flips, gazing down the never-ending stretch of the multi-color tunnel. "You're going to enjoy this place. I made it just for you." K noticed the light at the end of the tunnel. "Don't keep the audiences waiting."
"AAK!" The boy was shot out from the portal and sent, barrel rolling across the empty street.
Lying on his back, he rapidly pants, gazing at the naked night sky, trying to take in as much breath as possible.
K's breath slows down while he slowly sits up, looking down the clean streets of houses. He gazed back the same. K got to his feet, glancing at the non-existed bloody arm. "H-how in the-Where the hell am I?" He looked to a light pole and leaps, climbing it to the top.
More houses lined up and down the street while on the horizon of the full moon peak on a mountain with a catholic church. K continued to scout the area.
A scream of a girl caught his attention.
K dropped from the pole and ran down the street. Snapping his head to the alleys, he passed.
"Come on!" A girl cried. "I'll take a bunch of assholes!" K slides to a stop with sweat rolling down. A female student in a white dress shirt, black ribbon wrapped around her neck, and red skirt standing up to two robbers.
"Girl, just hand over the cash!" He demanded, flashing his knife.
"Make me!" She closed her fist while K gazed at the situation.
'Should I help? No. It'll only cause more problems.' K thinks but needs his notice. The girl was gazing at him from down the alley, gaining the Robber's attention.
"Hey, beat it!" He rests his bat on his shoulder. "Unless you want us to come over there!"
'What he say? It sounds Japanese. That's fine. At least I have a clue.' He went to leave, but he stood firm. 'Why am I standing there? MOVE!!' His body stays in place. The Robber cock an eyebrow.
"Last-" Robber one bumps his shoulder.
"I-I don't know." He staggered while the Robber was beyond dumbfounded until gazing at K.
The hoodie man is standing at the end of the alley. His face only shows darkness, while silence and the breathing from the three is all they hear.
He sweats.
"Y-you know what. I'm genuinely sorry. We'll leave. Come on!" They ran past the student and deeper into the darkness.
K approaches: and notices a puddle reflecting himself. A brown skin teen with brown eyes and jet black buzz cut with a hood over his head. He stops a few inches from her. " Are you alright?"
The student staggered.
"Na-nani?"
"You're not hurt: are you?" K questioned.
"Genkidesu."
"Well, do you need a walk home?"
"Arigatō. Ima kara okonatte mo īdesu ka?"
K walks away.
"Be safe out there." He stuffs his hands into his jacket pockets, leaving the alley. 'She looks oddly familiar.' He walks down the quiet neighborhood, and he yawns. 'Okay.'
He leaps on a light pole, scouting the area. He noticed a park down a few blocks. His black and white snickers touch the ground, and he wanders down that way.
K entered the park, where a water fountain sat, and opened benches. K sat on the bench, watching the fountain water echo the quiet environment.
He leans back, revealing his face. He slowly closes his eyes while darkness takes him hold.
...
K is gazing at the end credits showing the title Screen 'One-Punch Man.'
"Dude, that was awesome!" He glances at the young Teen on the couch beside him.
K smirked.
"Too bad, that was the last episode." The young Teen, groan leaning back.
"Yeah, it is..." They gazed at the screen while K turned off the TV.
"Hey." K gets the boy's attention. "How about a challenge?" The young Teen raised a brow. "How about that regiment?" The young Teen questioned.
"You seriously considering that?" He snickered. "Once you're used to it? What then?" K continued.
"I keep doing it without skipping a beat." He smirks while the boy shakes his head with a smile. He stood up.
"Well, count me out. This little guy." He pats his stomach. "Has a home." K rolls his eyes.
"Alright, fatass." The young Teen looks back with a smile.
"You're talking to your mirror, K." He exited the living room while a bright light took hold.
...
K's eyes squint, seeing the sun in all its glory. He leans forward, rubbing his eyes.
"Ugh! Damn." He rubs his neck while civilians walk past, giving light glances.
He pulls the items from his pockets and rests them in his hands. His Phone, forty bucks, and Bluetooth buds. 'What can I do? I need a better place to sleep and a job." He stuffs his items in his pockets. He got up, wandering out of the park the way he came.
He looks both ways noticing no cars on the road. He wandered the neighborhood again, gazing at the houses he passed by. K heard a grunt.
He gazed at an older man moving a dresser from the front door with his arms shaking like noodles.
"Akk!" He drops the dresser in between the door, covered in sweat.
"Excuse me? Sir?" K called while the older man looked back with a raised brow. "You look like you need a little help."
'Crap. Language barrier.'
"You know. Appreciated, kid." K's eyes widen. "Are you gonna stand there, or are you gonna help me?" K nods, breaking his detraction.
"Right." K grabbed the front of the dresser and pulled it out for the older man to pull the rest out. They set it by the door.
"Thanks for the help...but sadly, there's more."
"It's okay. I'll take care of the rest.
"Not without my help." K followed him inside, passing the staircase. He entered the clean Kitchen while the older man grabbed the Refridgerator. "Come on." K and the older man slide it from the counter. "Let's walk it." They walked the Fridge from the Kitchen while K brings up a spark of curiosity.
"You know English?"
"Retired; language teacher. What's funny is it seems to be the other way around." They made it to the front door. "We're gonna lean it your way." He pushes it into K's hands while he helps drag it out by the dresser. "One more." They entered the house. "Foreigner?"
"From New York, Queens. I'm K, by the way." His snickers touched the blueberry carpet while they gazed at the round table in the center of the room. The man lightly smiled, shaking hands with K.
"Akihito." He points to the table. "That's the last bit." K grabs the table lifting it to his chest.
"I got it." He exited through the front door while Akihito followed.
"Can you load that up in the truck?" He questioned while he nodded his head to the mini-truck in his driveway. K loaded it on the truck helping with the last two. They stood from it while Akihito set the straps keeping his stuff steady. "I'm gonna need your help." He entered his driver's seat while K entered the passager. Akihito started his truck and drove down the narrow street. "So, you're a neighbor or something?"
"Yes, two blocks from here." He looks out the window with a terrified gaze.
Akihito hummed to himself.
"Glad you were there to help. I couldn't wait any longer." K raised a brow. "I'm exchanging them for the new model." K nods. "So, what makes you move here?" Akihito turned into the main street.
"Well, uh, my parents have a job here."
"In Kuoh, they must haven't done their research well." K gazed at Akihito, begging him to continue. "Oddly, I don't know where these monsters come from, but they could appear sometime. Luckily it's rare."
"Monsters?" K questioned while Akihito entered the highway.
"Nothing much; The police apartment has it under control." K gazed at the passing cars.
He gazed at Akihito.
"Is there Kuoh Academy?" Akihito smirked.
"That's the place I retired from. Do you know that used to be an all-girls school?" K curiously grunts. He rocks a bit, signaling they have stopped. K noticed they parked in front of a furniture shop.
"Wait, here." He exits the truck entering inside, leaving K.
K looked around, noticing they were in the center of Kouh. A lot of civilians walked to their destinations.
K looks out the passager window to Akihito, signaling him to grab the table.
"Here. We go." K said to himself before getting out. He gets out, grabbing a table, but his eyes notice a woman in a red dress walking along the crosswalk while a sports car races down the street, showing no sign of stopping. K sprints into action, dropping the table and speeding past everyone.
"Watch it!" A man glared while K ignored, gaining everyone's attention.
K tackled the red-dressed woman from her unwelcome fate. The sports car continued, not losing its speed.
K looks at the red-dressed woman.
"I hope you alright!" He gets up, not giving the woman to speak.
K enters an alley and leaps, driving his hands into the wall and; leaping to the roof.
He raced across it throwing his hood over his head.
'I hope he's not far!' He gathers his speed: charging his leap and jump, taking the skies.
K skydives, gazing around until noticing the Sports Car barrels through traffic that dodges it. 'There you are.' He dives after it while his coat and hood flicker with the wind.
K crashes miles ahead of the car, causing bits of the road to fly.
He turns back, noticing the driver is unconscious: he ready himself for impact while his face cringed.
The car hits him as the tires burn against the street.
"Raagh!" He grunts, slowly sliding to a stop as his hands bend the hood while his arms shake.
The driver wakes.
"Ugh!" He leans to the side while the car comes to a stop. K stood from the sports car, lightly panting while Civilians gazed silently at him.
K stumbles back but races to the nearest building and leap onto the roof.
...
K walks down the street with his brown jacket wrapped around his waist.
He approaches Akihito and his truck watching the Red-dressed woman talking with the officers across the street.
A few civilians were watching the scene.
"Nice. Saved." Akihito states.
"Yeah. I knew something was wrong, but I'm glad I was right. Is that woman hurt?"
"No. That woman is fresh out. The box."
"Sorry about the table."
"Don't worry. You only chipped the thing. And the owner still wants it, so it's fine."
"Is there-"
"No need, hop in." They do so while he slowly takes back on the road.
The woman in the red dress gazed at K while he did the same. She warmly smirked while K lost his line of vision from her.
...
Sitting at the table, the boy eats a plate of food while Akihito only watches.
"You don't have nowhere to live, don't you?"
K pauses, looking up at him.
"I do."
"Don't you remember? I was a teacher. Don't lie to me." The boy only remained silent. Akihito sighs. "You can stay. Because I need all the help, I can get. Right?"
"Y-yeah."
"I want the house clean. No stealing from me unless you want to see the streets again. You help me. I help you. Yes?"
"I-I want to go to Kuoh Academy."
"The all-girl school?" The boy remained silent. "We'll figure that out soon. Come on, let me take you to your room."
They climbed the stairs before walking down the narrow hallway.
They entered the last room of the hall—a bed surrounded by blue carpet.
"You'll be staying here." K entered, staring at the action figures behind the bed. "You can do whatever you want, but don't be loud." The boy stared at the Tv in the corner of the room. "There's more. I want to explain, but I want you to rest. You have a big day tomorrow." Akihito closes the door.
The next day. K was worked to the bone. He washed the dishes, Vacuumed, cut the grass from the backyard and front, and even washed Akihito's truck.
He wasn't tired physically, but mentally. As the day cut short, Akihito took K to the grocery store.
Akihito hummed, staring at a plate of meat in the meat aisle.
"Do you see him?" The shopping lady leaned from the end of the aisle, pointing. "There!"
"Huh?" The other squinted her eyes.
"I know, right? What do you think he does?"
"Talk to him."
"No. No. No." The first shopping lady whispered.
"You dragged me here. What else will the boy say? Thank you for getting back to me. And I want to establish that you are behind on your car warranty."
"Ah. You and your smart mouth."
K listens to the women down the other end of the section, trying not to stare.
"K. What do you think?' Akihito questioned.
"Uh. It's meat."
"I know it's meat, boy. I'm talking about this." He points to the packaging. "Twenty percent off. They come in five-pound meat while this is Ten percent off, coming in six, but the meat takes longer to cook. "
"I don't know. The first one?"
"Right." They rolled from the aisle. "I have to teach you how to shop."
"I know how."
"Really?" They stop at a plate aisle. "Chose a plate. Two stacks. Are fine."
K wandered briefly in search of stacks of plates. He squinted at the symbols before picking his choice.
"Yep. A lot to learn."
The days follow as Akihito taught K—the way of Shopping. Only to find out he doesn't know a lick of Japanese.
That was K's most complex challenge yet. Its learning could have been more accessible, like the language context, counting, speed, etc, wasn't so difficult to grasp.
Akihito stayed with K to help teach him.
"Well, what is? Hello. My name is Blank. Nice to meet you." Akihito states cutting vegetables.
"Uh. Kon'nichiwa. Watashinonamaeha Kdesu. Hajimemashite?" He stared from his book at Akihito.
"Good, but sound more confident. Suppose you want to impress a lady friend."
"Hito!" A voice cried out from the Kitchen. "Anata no pan o katte kimashita. Sēru-chūdatta no ni ――"
A blonde mid-age woman stared at K before stopping at smirking Akihito.
"Thanks. Miko. You know where to put it."
"Korehanandesuka?"
"English, please. Baby steps."
"What's going on."
"He's been staying with me for a few days. K has been helping me out a lot lately."
"What?! I told you this. I don't mind helping out."
"I know. I need muscles, and mine doesn't work like it used to. K. This is Miko. A neighbor of mine."
"Well. Nice to meet you, K." Miko shook his hand. Her light blue eyes stared through her glasses at the boy. "You're taking care of him?"
"Yes, ma'am." K states.
"You're not taking advantage of him?"
"Miko. What are you? My Daughter?" Akihito looked over his shoulder. "I can care for myself, and the boy is fine."
"Okay." Miko gives K a once look over.
A few more months went by. K is starting to grasp the language. He also found out Miko is a bank accountant from Akihito mentioned. In the following months, Miko helped K learn currency.
Akihito also started paying K for his work.
Miko and K found a homeless man begging for change in an alley. K gave the man some money.
When they left, the man cried thank you—gaining Miko's interest. She asked how much he gave him, and He said, "Two million yen."
After that day, Miko kept an extra eye on him. She does not want him to blow his money like that again.
K's eyes opened to the white ceiling before him. The moonlight fills the room while the boy sits up from his bed, rubbing his eyes with a sigh.
The boy gazed about the nearly dark room while listening to the silence posed at night.
K eyed his phone.
3:40 am.
The boy slowly closes his door behind him in his boxers, showing his muscular chest.
He sneaked down the hall, causing it to creak while the boy only cringed.
K grabs a sliver knob before silently opening the door. It gave an awkward cry.
'God damn! Why's everything different at night?!' K winces before peaking into the room.
The cold AC brushed the hairs on his face while his eyes stared into the darkness before him. A snore like a bear filled his ears while his eyes found Akihito in bed.
K closes the door shut before sneaking back into his room.
The boy opened the closet, eyeing the hoodie and jacket he had.
K stares at it for a moment before taking it.
K threw on his Hood, eyeing his door over his shoulder. The boy dives from his open window. He does a front flip before his sneakers hit the cement.
He gazed down the neighborhood of the night before staring back at his window above him.
The boy paced down the street, listening to the steps he took. His tried eyes gaze about eyeing the alley he passed.
...
K walked continued while he pulled out his phone.
5:30 am.
'Ugh. Time to go home.'
A metal gate opens while a man in a suit closes it shut. His eyes land on pacing Hooded K.
His blue eyes pierced from his brown-rimmed glasses and at the boy, who only continued without glancing.
The man in the suit paced the opposite way K came.
A creak filled the boy's ears, causing K to look over his shoulder at the metal gate that swung open. The boy eyed the man who turned the corner down the road.
K closes the gate back, only for it to swing back open. He eyed
the busted lock before planting a sneaker on the walkway in someone's yard.
The boy paced to the cracked front door, eyeing the darkness that welcomed him. K continued to the living room.
It is a neat and welcoming sight before seeing the stairs. K climbed the stairs, listening to the weight filling the quiet house before eyeing the darkness again, yet his eyes adjusted to the hall of doors.
The boy picks a door and opens it.
A couple lay in bed, filling the bed with their blood. Their throat slit while the lamp shows their colorless bodies.
K blankly stares back at the hall.
A man in a suit entered an alley, pulling off his suit and tie before throwing them in a trash bin.
'It's still not enough.' He brushes his hair, making it bedridden, before approaching another trash can. He threw on a grey hoodie with a grunt. Throwing his glasses into. 'Maybe someone younger? But I don't kill kids.'
The murderer puts his hands in his pocket, pacing towards the exit.
'Maybe. I'll give it a try.'
He stops, and at the end of the alley stands Hoodie K staring into it.
"Hey. Uh. I'm not looking for trouble." The guy raised his hands.
"You see a guy in a suit? He wears brown glasses?" K said dryly.
"I don't know." The guy stumbled back. "Look. I want to go home."
"You go home when you answer my question." K paced down the alley with his hands in his pockets.
"I did!"
"Pass it to someone else." He grew closer while the guy pulled out a switchblade.
"Don't come any closer!"
"Alright." K raised his hands, coming to a stop. "I'll go." He flagged his bloody handkerchief between his fingers. "Before I do. I want to give it back to you."
The murderer subtlely pats his pocket, and his eyes quake.
"That's not mine." The guy voiced, his switchblade shaking along his hand.
"No." The guy felt the hooded figure grin. "I insisted."
K paced once more while He stepped back from a slash. He weaves from another before pushing the murderer's elbow.
A pop and a cry filled the night of the alley.
"Ah! Ack." The murderer gazes at the long bone of his elbow sticking out from the joint of his arm while a pool of blood rained through his fingers and onto the cement below.
"Oh my god." K held his mouth. "I'm so sorry." The murderer takes several steps back. "You should have learned that before, murdering people in cold blood." K chuckles. "I mean. You want blood. Go hunting."
The murderer runs down the alley opposite K's.
The guy pants, snapping his head back at the hooded figure waving at him.
The murderer's eyes shake while his eyes turn to the end of the alley.
K paced before him, causing the murderer to fall on his back.
"You met my brother. Sorry about that." K paced while the murderer crawled back.
"Stop! Stop! I didn't mean it!"
K grasps the guy's hoodie while gasping.
"Uh. Rude." K breaks the guy's jaw off, causing it to hang. "What was that?"
The guy gargles, eyeing his tongue briskly in the cold air. He looks up at the face covered in darkness in tears.
The hood figure shoves him to the ground.
"I'm empathic, you see. And I'm here to show you." K crouches above his chest, eying him down. "Baby steps." K stabs his finger into the murderer's throat, and a faucet of blood poured. "That's how the two people felt when you murdered them in their sleep." K stomps on his other arm that was grabbing his pants. "You understand?!" K raised his voice.
He pummeled the murderer into the ground, more blood-painted cement below.
'Jump.' K's voice filled his head.
'Why so scared? Just your friendly neighborhood hero.'
'Your right. You're no terrorist. You're a monster.' Another voice filled the boy's head. His breath grew ragged while his punches packed power.
'This devastating event caused a block in Times Square and on the plane to be vanquished by a Vigilante in a hood with powers from a comic book. Authorities say it is dangerous. There will be a curfew.' Another says while K roars beastly.
K's fist crashed into the shattered cement that caved in.
A manhole stood before the boy while the body of the murderer lay limb.
K pants while sirens of the night filled his ears.
The boy stood to his feet, leaping across the sky to avoid the police cars racing to the scene.
...
K spooned his cereal from the kitchen table, eyeing the cartoon on TV in the living room.
"Morning, kid." Akihito walked into the kitchen.
"Good. Morning." K states before Akihito sits before him, grabbing the cereal box.
"What happened to you?" Akihito poured almond milk into his bowl. "Couldn't sleep?"
"Yes. Sir."
"Well, I'm feeling generous." Akihito grew a smirk. "This can be your day off. You can sleep all day if you have to."
K grew a smile.
"Hito! K!" Miko rushed into their house. Miko paced herself to their kitchen and towards the two.
"Hey. Why are you in a hurry?" Akihito states while Miko snatches the remote from K's side before flipping the channels.
"Currently standing before us." A newsman points to the police cars and an ambulance truck blocking the alley. "A murder has happened around five in the morning."
"That's near here." Miko rubs her arms.
"A beastly cry and something pounding into the ground like a jackhammer has awakened the houses surrounding this scene." A picture of a man in a prison jumpsuit appeared. "After being released from a fifteen-year sentence. Acane Aoi, known as Sandman. Committed more crimes in four months only to lay waste now. Police say this is a monster attack, but they are glad no one else was hurt."
"No one leaves before you call me." Miko gazed at the two, who stared back at her. "I'll get whatever you need. You hear me?"
Akihito and K begin laughing.
Miko glare.
"You?" Akihito chuckled. "I mean. Murder to a Murderer is well deserved." K gazed at Akihito. "Besides. No monster attack going to stop me from leaving this house."
"WHAT! I say! That's what goes!" Miko booms, causing K to lean back. "Right?!"
"Miko. I'm a grown man." Akihito interwind his fingers.
"A grown man who needs to be looked after!"
"I remind you, you no family of mine."
Miko slams the remote onto the table, causing it to jolt.
She rubs her hand on K's shoulder with a smile.
"Sorry." She paces out of the kitchen. "Call me."
Akihito rolled his eyes.
A year went by, and K was helping Akihito pick weeds out of his yard.
"Morning." A bike messager approached their mailbox.
"Good. Morning." K states while in his T-shirt and his hands dirty.
"Morning. Kid." Akihito states before taking a seat in a chair, drinking lemonade.
"You guys heard. There is less crime around?" The bike messenger states, sorting through the mail.
"I haven't seen crime even now."
"Why would you?"
"Funny." He sips his lemonade once more.
"I mean. I can ride my bike at night, knowing nothing will happen." K hides his smirk. "The guy going by the name Hit. Basic. But I'm not here to judge."
"If you ask me. I think it's a load of shit." K snaps his head. "The guy is going to get himself killed. And when a monster comes. What then? Punch it?"
"What you think, K?" The bike messager looks at the Teen.
"Uh. Hit is a good guy. When a monster comes, I don't know. He sounds like a type to fight it head-on."
"Right." Akihito cocks his head while Miko comes out from her house with ham sandwiches and a pitch of lemonade.
"Niko, how have you been?" Miko called.
"I'm fine. You got a daily letter from your mother." The bike messenger passes the mail to Akihito.
"Thanks. What will I do without you?"
He nods before riding off.
"K. Give that a break. I have refreshments." The Teen stood from the garden, brushing his hands along his pants.
He approached Miko pouring Akihito a glass.
"Uh-huh!" Miko voiced while K's hand froze. " I'll feed it to you."
"The boy. A man." Akihito voiced.
"A dirty man. You want a dirty sandwich?"
"It won't hurt me."
"Of course, it won't." She rolled her eyes, setting the pitch on the chair beside Akihito. He grabs a sandwich while Miko hovers the sandwich toward K.
He clears his throat before taking a bite.
"You don't sweat much." Miko stared, worried. "I suggest you get checked out."
"Don't worry about it. I'm fine."
"Oh no. We're going to the doctor tomorrow. Get dressed at ten."
"Really?"
"Hey. Look at that. They accepted." Akihito adds.
"Your mouth. Is full." Miko adds.
"Ah. Look, kid." He passed the paper to K to read.
Kae Woods, you are invited to Kuoh Academy. We will like you to come by 2/4/2008 for a start of a new semester.
"Thanks." K smiles at Akihito, who only brushes it off.
"You should thank yourself. You work hard. You get a reward. Though I'm surprised, the school is giving it a go. Just let me know."
"Sure."
An alarm fills the skies while people's screams come after.
Miko drops the sandwichs pulling on Akihito.
"K!" Miko shouts. The Teen helps the older man up before racing to the house.
K slams the door shut, following after the two.
"What's happening?"
"A monster attack."
The boy followed the two into the Kitchen. Miko pushed the kitchen table and threw the blue mat aside, revealing a hatch.
"You first, Hito."
"No, you first!" He demanded.
"We are behind you. Go."
K looked to the door, hearing the screams before looking at the sliding door leading to the backyard.
Mosquitoes roam the glass, trying to find their way in. It cracked.
"K!" Miko shouts, getting his attention.
"Go. I'm right behind you." K states, looking at the glass door crack more. "Go!"
Miko climbs in next.
"Take care of him."
"What?" K slams the hatch shut. "K!"
The Teen threw the refrigerator on top of the hatch.
The mosquitoes burst into the Kitchen while the boy raced to the stairs.
The front door burst open while K raced to his room. He slammed it shut, only for the door to fall off its hinges.
He cursed himself, throwing on his hoodie from the closet.
The mosquitoes entered his room while K opened the window and jumped through. He lands on his feet.
The insects burst through his window.
K takes down the road at Cheeta speed.
'I'm SO going to kill that monster!!'
He leaps over the houses in search of it. The insects plagued the streets. Bodies of people lay waste, and the grass dead.
K leaps once more.
He sees a humanoid insect staring around the intersection of the neighborhood.
Hit crashes feet from the Mosquito girl.
"Oh?" She tilts her head at Hit. "And who are you supposed to be?"
"Do you know how hard it took to clean an entire house in the summer?"
"The hell you on about?"
"Bugs!" He raised his voice. "Flies! Bees! Spiders! Even when they're known to be good neighbors unless they cross a boundary. Mosquitoes! They broke my window, glass door, front door, and flowers that I SPEND MY HARD WORKING MONEY ON!!"
"Watch your tone, bug." The Mosquito girl's eyes grew dark. "Your pathetic luxury is below me like you, a matter of fact. Get on your knee and kiss my feet. I might let you live."
"No. No." He cracks his neck before cracking his knuckles. "I thought flies were the highest bounty, but I was wrong. I'll kill you for destroying my house and killing these people!"
"Littles ones feast on your snack."
Her little ones swarm Hit from all directions.
'Big Bang.'
Hit claps, destroying the swarm before him and revealing the grey skies.
"Pests!" Her voice came from behind.
Hit blocks only to get knocked off his feet. The vigilante rolls down the block before sliding to his feet.
His body tingled. He backflipped while Mosquito Girl crashed at the last place he stood, leaving a web of cracks.
She rushes.
"What makes you think you can beat me?" She flashes her claws, throwing them toward the vigilante, dodging slashes. "You're weak! A stillborn! I bet your mother wouldn't look at you." She cut his chest, spilling blood.
Mosquito Girl breaks to the skies, Revealing her little ones bolting toward Hit.
'Shit!'
He backflips, gaining distance only for Mosquito Girl to tackle him to the ground.
She bites into his shoulder.
'Got you.'
The air burst, and Mosquito Girl is nowhere to be seen.
Hit stares at the gray sky, his fist lingering before falling to his side. His shoulder and chest bleed through his battered hood.
K sits up while his hood falls. He wince, holding onto his shoulder before standing to his feet.
He pants, staring down at the destruction.
'I minimize the best I can.'
"You hit like a truck for a kid."
K's eyes widen. He felt his whole world go upside down before flying across two blocks.
He crashed into a house and bounced from the street before crashing into a car's windshield.
"Argh." Blood leaks from his mouth as he slowly sits up. He noticed the bones from his legs showing under his skin at the position of his thighs.
K pops it back.
"Ack! Fuck!" He stands to his feet, hissing.
"Well. Call me impressed." K looks up at Mosquito Girl, branding a new look. Orange and black Stripes covered her body, while the edges of her limbs grew twice as sharp. "You can take a hit, and you also taste good." She purrs. "I never did this to anyone, but let's break the rules. Kiss my feet, and I'll leave everyone alone."
K stayed quiet before spitting his blood onto the street.
"No?"
'Damn. I don't have a choice.'
He hissed, pushing from the car. K limped toward Mosquito Girl, that planted herself on the ground.
K stood before her. She towered over him.
He drops to his knees while Mosquito Girl leans forward, growing a smile. Her eyes wandered below, and he followed, looking at her three jagged toe feet.
He wipes the blood from his lips.
'Hundred percent.'
K slaps Mosquito Girl across the face.
She disappeared while grey gray skies above broke into a circle of light raining down onto the boy, and houses surrounded him.
He stares at the sun and blue skies within his circle. Liquid hit his cheek. Soon more fell, covering him.
...
K limps back home, entering through the broken door.
The alarm stopped blaring.
He arrived at the Kitchen, pulling the refrigerator aside. He opened the hatch only to be locked.
He knocks.
"It's me. K. It's safe now." Silence answered. "Hello? The monster is gone."
He waited for a few minutes.
The hatch snaps while the door hovers revealing Miko peaking about before landing on the bloody K sitting on their kitchen chair.
She remained silent, looking the boy in the eyes.
"K?"
"Yes. The monster is gone."
She exit the hatch with a gun pointed at him. Miko closed the hatch shut before approaching K. She did some tests before grinning.
"Ah! Ah!" K shouts in pain while Miko pulls his ear.
"What was that?! You worry us sick to death!!"
"Ok. Ok. I'm sorry!"
"You're also cleaning my house, young man!" She grinds her teeth while the hatch opens.
"K? K!" The older man quickly climbed out, only to fall to the floor.
"Hito!" K and Miko rushed to Akihito's aid pulling to his feet.
"You alright?" K questioned while Akihito's eyes widened.
"What was that?! Are you fucking kidding me?!" He shakes the boy before hugging him. He pushed back with his brown eyes locking to his. "Why?!"
"The monster knew where we were. I lead it away."
"Goddam it, boy!"
"Hito easy on him!" Miko shouts, running back with a first aid kit.
"That was stupid! Stupid!"
"Stop!"
"Do you wanna die? Or possibly turn into them?!"
"No." K stared in shock while Akihito shook him again.
"Don't do that- Agh!" Akihito leads back, clutching his heart.
"Hito!"
That day. Is when Akihito passed.
K's injuries healed four days after that, giving him a sense that he had grown stronger.
He got the house and money passed on to K and Miko. And the letter for them.
Dear K and Miko.
I'm surprised you entertained this old geezer. Especially you, Miko. You looked after me when my wife and son were lost to a monster attack. I didn't ask for anything, yet you stayed. In a way, I am proud that you are my daughter, even when we're not related. I was hard on you two because I didn't want you to make the same mistakes I made—I hoped it worked. And K. I wrote this because I knew I wouldn't see you graduate. And look! You are reading this letter! I'm very proud of you. Remember, discounts and item quality are essential to help save money. Make me proud, K.
A month later.
On a bed, K sleeps peacefully until.
The alarm rings.
He smashes his clock through his wooden tiles floor. He sits up and rubs his baggy eyes.
"I swear, Ms.Miko, why can't I have my sleep?"
The door to his room opens, revealing Miko.
"K! Get up! You got to go to school." She closes the door.
The boy sighs.
He gets up to do his daily routine, cold shower, brush his teeth, and eat breakfast.
K sits down at the table and looks down at his plate.
"Breakfast classic today, Ms. Miko?" He stares at Ms. Miko setting her plate before him.
"Yes. And Miko is fine. How many times do I have to keep telling you?" They ate their breakfast in silence until Miko spoke."So, you're ready for school?" K looks up at her with a depressed look.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Don't worry about it." He eats his food while Miko's eyes linger.
"After school, come back before nightfall. I'm dropping you off at school today."
"I can walk."
"No. You're not."
"It's the only school that's near. It's not that far."
"Across the bridge! That's on the other side of the neighborhood. Stop. Being a baby. I'm taking you."
"BABY?! I COULD OF WALK, YOU KNOW!!!"
"I'm not letting you walk, especially not at night!"
K chews on his pancake.
"I'll be fine if someone tries to give me a hard time. I can punch them."
"What if that punch is not enough?"
"Are you ok? Did you hit your head?"
"STOP TRYING TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT!!!"
K's phone rings. He checks it, and he's eyes widen.
He rose, raced to his room, and returned wearing his school uniform in seconds.
"I like a favor. Can you stop breaking your alarms and floorboard? It costs money."
"Gotta go, see, yeah, MIKO." He slams the door behind him, leaving Miko at the table.
K sprints through the streets of Kuoh, leaving a dust trail behind as people walking by stare at it dumbfounded while his eyes are bloodshot as he looks both ways rapidly.
"Where is it?! Where is it?! Oh, I found it!!!"
He looks ahead, seeing the school.
He slowed down into a standard sprint seeing two students standing by the gates waiting for K's arrival: a girl with a black bowl cut and black glasses and a Long black Hair girl with black glasses in their girl's school uniforms.
They noticed him and grew fearful as K gave a blank stare.
"Yo, is this Kuoh Academy?" He slightly waves, approaching the two.
"Ah, yes." The first girl coughs. "I'm Shitori Sona, President." She hesitantly holds her hand out as K accepts it and shakes it lightly.
"Tsubaki Shinra." They did the same for her.
"Come with us. I have to give you your schedule."
Sona and Tsubaki walk toward the school as K follows.
Silence filled their journey while the boy noticed their nervousness.
"Are you two alright?" He questioned.
"We're fine. Why did you ask?" Sona looks back.
K scratches his cheek.
"You two looked jumpy." His eyes search for a reaction.
"You know—the new semester. This year the school added a few boys, and you're one of them."
"Right. We're adapting to this dynamic." Tsubaki adds. "So forgive our quirks."
'Is there another episode of Magical Girls coming up tomorrow? I know it's weird, but the arc is alright.'
They arrived at the office, and Sona gave him his schedule.
K steps out.
"Wait! Mr." Sona trailed off.
"Kae Woods or just K? Sorry for not mentioning it." He looks back at them.
"Mr. Woods, can you come by here at the end of the day? I have something I like to discuss."
"Uh..sure, but please no, Mr., I'm self-conscious about my age. See you later." He closes the door behind him.
...
K knocks on the door to his class. A teacher peaks out the door and stares at him.
"Oh, wait, here. Let me get this situated."
He closed the door, and K heard his voice, trying to grab his class's attention.
"Come in." The Teacher said behind the door.
K follows his command. He walks near the chalkboard and the Teacher.
Everyone's eyes were on him, and the bad thing about this is the girls took up most of the class.
K smirks as he nervously sweats.
"Hey, I'm Kae Woods or some people like to call me K. I hope we can be friends."
Girls whisper amongst each other as the guys glare at K, catching the attention of a red-haired girl in the back.
"Hey, hey, quiet down, class. Woods, take a seat next to Issa Hyoudou. Issa, raise your hand." The Teacher states.
A girl with long brown hair follows his order as K spots her seven desks from where he's from. K walks to his seat.
"Aw, man, he seating next to Hyoudou."
"She's going to corrupt him."
K ignores this and takes a seat.
The class continued, and someone whispered.
"Pssh...K?" K turns to Issa. "I'm Issa Hyoudou." They shook hands. "You look nervous. What's up?"
"Uh..can you tell half of these girls are looking at me."
"I can't blame them, your hot dude."
"Uh..thanks?"
"Besides, my pals Matsuda and Motohama are guys, too. You will get along with them. Oh, and do you want to come along with us? I think you might like it."
She smiles devilishly.
"Ok, then."
'I don't like that smile.'
A moment after class, during lunch, Isa, Motohama, Matsuda, and K were outside the Kendo club trying to sneak a peek at a small hole leading to the girl's locker room.
K was behind them with his arms crossed with an uncomfortable stare as Isa tried to get between Motohama and Matsuda peeking through.
"I don't like this."
"Come' on, K. Don't be a bitch, and grow a pair. These chicks in that room could be ours if we play our cards right." Matsuda voiced.
"Yeah, they are the enlightenment in the dark era. To let this past means death to the plague." Motohama adds.
They swung their butt side to side while Isa continued her struggle.
"Ok, you guys have fun. I'm not getting beat up for this." K walks away.
Isa sighs
"This is not fair, guys."
"Life is not fair." Motohama and Matsuda state.
K reaches a tree near an old clubroom without knowing, a red hair teen looking down on him through a window. He sat against the tree, staring at the school.
'Hah. The good old days. Can I keep up? I nearly died, killing one monster and two more after that. I feel progress. The last was an easy kill, but more be like that?'
K continued staring aimlessly until Issa, Motohama, and Matsuda walked in his direction with black eyes and sore lips.
"Hey, it seems my prediction came true."
"Shut up, no one asks you." Issa sits next to K with her head on his shoulder.
Matsuda and Motohama continued their rant about the kendo girl's breasts and butts until they stopped and noticed a red hair girl looking down on them with her red locks blowing with the wind expressing her beauty.
The three looked at her with hearts in their eyes, but K gave a slight smirk.
"Rias Gremory, the Kuoh academy queen and the occult research club president. She's a natural beauty." Motohama whistled.
"Right on the money. I sell my soul to the devil to be with her."
"Be careful. About what you wish for." K warned.
"Dude. You don't have the nuts to take a beating like a man. Why should I listen to you?"
"Uh? I have Common Sense?"
"Shut. The. Fuck. Up."
"Akeno, Who is the brown hair girl and the foreign boy by her?" Rias questioned.
A jet-black long-haired girl named Akeno steps forward, staring out the window with her.
"Huh, That's Issa and Kae. Kae just transferred here, and he looks like a stud. Rias, why do you ask?"
"Nothing, just wondering."
Rias and Akeno leave the window to do their business as the four stare back at each other, saying what they had in mind.
After school, Issa asks K to walk her home, but he declines and tells her why. She took it well, but deep down, she was depressed.
Now K arrived at the office and greeted Sona and Tsubaki as Sona was doing paperwork and Tsubaki was standing near her.
"Hey. What's the problem?" He stood in front of Sona's desk.
"To be honest with you, I sense something in you." She pushed her glasses.
"And?"
"And I want you to join me."
"Sorry, I don't like the responsibility that great on my shoulders. I'm lazy, depending on the situation. But, that no can do. Is that all?"
"Uh, no, but reconsider that we could reduce the paperwork given to you if you do."
Tsubaki's eyes widen.
"My answer is no, but you seem like a chill girl to hang around. If you wanna, call me."
K gives his number to Sona as she blushes.
"Gotta. Go." He leaves the room.
"What do we do now? President?" Tsubaki questioned.
"Keep an eye on him, someone with that power, and everyone is probably after him."
She looks at his number.
A few days later, K was walking in the streets in the dark with his black hoodie covering his face as his hands were in his pockets.
The sky turned red, and he heard an explosion coming from a park.
Hit sprints over in seconds and notices Issa trying to convince a fallen angel named Raynare but is struck in the heart by her with an energy spear.
"Raynare." Hit walks up to Issa, that was slowly dying.
"Who are you? How did you get through my barrier?!!!" Raynare remarked.
"Call me Hit, and I happen to be walking by. I will tell you to leave because I believe in second chances; if not, you'll get punched."
"Don't make me laugh, human! Why not remove your hood so I could look in your eyes when you die!"
He slowly walks toward her. Raynare flies above him and hurls a spear.
Hit caught the spear with one hand and crushed it as the energy despaired into nothing.
"WHAT?!!! THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE?!!!" Hit vanishes and appears above her. "I warn you." He karate chops her into the ground, causing a web of cracks.
Raynare lay there with buries and blood all over.
He walks up to her and crouches as she stares into his face, which covers his identity.
"So, I'll ask again, you can take your chance to get out of here, hell I'll drop you off, but don't cause any trouble. Don't worry. I won't hurt anyone else if you point me to where you live. If they try anything, I will."
"O-ok..just don't hurt anyone else." K puts her on his back and walks to Issa, who looks at him as her breathing worsens.
"Wh-who are you?" Issa questioned.
"Hit. I'm a hero for fun. Someone is on their way. Hang in there."
He leaves with Raynare as Issa dies.
Akeno and Rias appear from a teleportation circle. They stare at the debris that K caused.
"Did Issa do this?" Akeno questioned.
Hit sprints through the town of Kuoh, leaving a dust trail behind, heading for a church that Raynare told him about.
Raynare reaches up to grab his hood.
"Don't." He didn't bother looking back. She stops and rests her bloody head on his shoulder.
Hit notices an abandoned church beyond the hills.
"Hold on." Raynare grip tightens as he speeds up and leaps great height toward the church.
Raynare screams, surprised by his power. They fall towards the church. Hit lands on his toes, creating cracks underneath him as they are at the church's doors.
"This is. Where I leave." He drops Raynare off by the doors. "And let everyone know that Hit is looking after Kuoh." He squats.
"Wait!" Raynare coughed.
Hit looks back.
"When will we meet?"
"Do the crime. Do the time." He jumps away.
"Who was that guy?" A small girl with blonde hair and a woman with Blue hair steps out the doors to Raynare, badly beaten.
The women check on her as the small girl laughs.
"Raynare! Are you ok?!" The blue haired-women check Raynare's wounds.
"I'm fine, Kalawarner."
"You look like you got hit by a truck!!! The small girl laughs more.
"Shut up, brat!!! I'll-" Kalawarner interrupted.
"That's enough, Mittelt." Kalawarner interrupted. "Raynare, tell me. What happened to you?"
K makes it home at midnight after he does his patrol. He walks to his Kitchen and fills his coffee mug. 'Who sexy? I AM!!!' imprinted on it with apple juice.
"Seriously, I'm getting tired of all of this." K takes a sip.
"You have no idea." A lamb flicks on, revealing Miko, furious.
K spits a chuck of apple juice onto the floor.
"HOW LONG HAVE YOU SAT THERE?!"
"Long enough. Why are you late?" Miko's glare intensifies as K sweats nervously.
