It was sunset when two orc woman and an orc stood before a large hut made of sticks and twigs. The door was made from normal plain wood.
Kliran was holding two stones in his hand. These were the two stones Dan had thrown away that had his scent. As he was about to knock on the door it swung wide open. It was opened by an old orc woman. Her face had wrinkles and one of lower fangs had been broken. She was wearing a simple brown tattered dress.
"Oh it's you guys, I could have sworn I smelt my grandson." the old lady said. She sniffed the air once more. "I smell him even right now."
"It's good to see you too mother." Kliran said. "Can we talk inside?"
The old lady sighed and moved out of the way to let them enter. "Hi grandma!" Fria greeted the old lady. The old lady nodded her head and smiled at Fria.
"How are you feeling Maxia?" Martha asked.
"I'm good Martha, what about you?"
"I'm just as fine."
There was a wooden table and three seats. Kliran, Martha and Maxia sat down leaving only Fria standing up. There was a jug filed with milk on the table and three cups. Maxia poured the milk into the three cups and gave them to Fria,Martha and Kliran. Kliran tried refusing it.
"A growing boy like you needs to drink milk so they can get stronger." Maxia said. Kliran quickly grabbed the milk and drank it so that Maxia would stop treating him like a child.
"Camel milk! I haven't had that in a long time." Kliran said.
"Of course you didn't, cause the only thing you drink is either goat or cow milk." Maxia poured some more milk into Kliran's cup.
"So why is it that you came to me today? you barely visit your own mother unless you need help with something, you ungrateful brat."
Kliran hesitated for a minute. He wanted to tell his mother that Dan had ran away along with the demon lord's son but he did not know how to break the ice.
Maxia and Dan had such a close relationship. In fact Dan spent a lot more time with his grandmother than with Kliran.
"Dan is missing, we think he ran away." Fria said. She was leaning on a wall with her leg bent on the wall.
Maxia didn't look surprised. Her facial expression remained the same. "It was about time he did that, I was wondering if he would actually do that."
Martha hadn't even touched her milk. "What do you mean by that? Did you know that he would run away? Why didn't you tell us?"
Maxia scratched her chin as she thought. "More or less, I guess."
Martha slammed on the table lightly. "What do you mean by that? Our child just disappeared and you knew about this and you did not tell us! He even took the lord's son along with him, who was to get married within two weeks time." Her voice was low but it contained hints of agitation and aggression.
Maxia frowned, she and Martha did not have any bad blood between them but she disliked Martha. The same applied to Martha.
"I would appreciate if you wouldn't bang on my table like that, I had it for eight years and I have no intention of cutting down a tree just to make a new one."
"But as I was saying I more or less knew about it."
Kliran placed his empty cup on the table. He spoke in a soft imploring voice."Mother could you explain what you mean by that? If you knew about this why did you not tell us. You know Dante is not right in the head. The kid could be considered a psychopath, no... the kid is a psychopath."
"He goes out of his way just create enemies. He takes pleasure in manipulating and lying to people to their face. He gets satisfaction from the chaos he creates. If he were to go out into the world he would be dead within a month or less. He is a freshwater frog who only swam in a pond and now wants to swim in the salty ocean with sharks. What do you think would happen to him?"
Maxia grabbed Kliran's empty cup and poured herself the last bit of milk in the jug. "If I were a stranger I would think that you hate your son, but still... I get where your coming from."
She gulped down the milk in take. "The child is dangerous to himself and the people around him. I already knew that child was going to run away one day and it seems like that day has arrived."
Martha's eyes were red, it wasn't because she was angry or because she was crying all night. She was just tired. She hadn't slept since yesterday. "Why are you so nonchalant about this?" Martha asked. This time her voice was not showing any signs of aggression but signs of agony, anxiety and exhaustion.
Maxia could feel that Martha's voice had changed. "I know how you feel Martha, I loved that child more than I ever loved Kliran."
"What?" Kliran quickly questioned.
"But you got to let the kid go, he will learn how big the world is. He will meet his kind that he has never met. When he comes back he will not return as the same child he was but as a man with wisdom. Maybe he will come back with a child of his own. You could grandparents and she would be an aunt." Maxia explained as she pointed to Fria.
"If you let him be, only good will come from it, all you have to do is have faith in your son. You should know his strength better than anyone Kliran since you trained him, he's not going to be killed by those weak humans."
Fria had been listening carefully this whole time, she stared at the pure white liquid in her cup before looking at Maxia. "Let's just say hypothetically we let him be to do his own stuff, then what about the demon lord. Obviously he would be angry, his son who was to get married has run away. Usually it is the bride's that run away not the grooms. It would be an insult to the royal families honour. I was told from reliable sources that Pedro was to be a part of an arranged political marriage."
Maxia frowned but then her frown quickly turned into a smile. "Well that's the royal families problem not ours."
Fria swirled the cup and took a sip from it. 'Now I see were he gets his trait of not caring about anything from.'
"Grandma it is very much our problem, Dan and Pedro ran away together, the royal family will put all the blame on Dan and say that he corrupted their child. In simple terms we would be enemies of the royal family."
Maxia's smile only grew as she shook her head and looked at Kliran.
"No, that won't happen, will it?" Maxia asked Kliran.
Kliran only stared back at his mother before finally managing to stutter an answer.
"N... no... No that won't happen."
_______
Dan was standing inside the carriage. The inside of the carriage completely took him by surprise. It was huge. From the outside it seemed like a normal carriage but on the inside it was at least 20 metres long and 15 metres high.
The entire place was a noisy mad place. There were three 12 metre tall trees that branched out. Two of them were in the middle and one of them was in the far right corner. The tree had way to many branches. There was a group of monkeys at the top of the tree in the middle. They were grooming each other's backs.
A giant fish tank that was filled with many types of fish inside it. The fish tank was stuck to a wall and had a metal cage protecting it.
On the left side of the wall there was a giant cage that covered the entirety of the left side. Inside it were birds of all kinds. There were several nests at the top which were perched on wooden stands that were purposefully placed there. Inside it were chicken, doves, turkeys, Marnian birds, parrots, ducks and geese among many others.
There were cats, dogs, turtles, foxes and snakes among many things. There was a small cage near the entrance and inside it were several rabbits and hares.
The right side had several giant windows, most likely for the animals to know whether it was day or night. It also acted as a main source for light as Dan could not see any lamps.
In simple terms the inside of this carriage was like a miniature jungle madhouse. There was a man sitting at a table next to the entrance.
The man called for Dan who was still stunned.
Dan took two steps and he was already in front of the guy. "You need to remove the chain around his neck," he said.
Dan shook his head. "Why do I have to do that?" he asked.
"Mostly because it's a safety hazard. These animals in here usually fight a lot, and that chain would be a hindrance, unless you want those monkeys to strangle him with it. Of course that is your choice. Our business is not responsible for the death of any creature on board our carriages."
"HAAAAAAAA!" Dan let out a loud, weird, mocking sound slip from his mouth. "I see, thanks for your concern but I highly doubt that a monkey can kill Kan."
"But I will remove it so that there is nothing hindering him." Dan turned around to remove the chain from Kan but he was not standing there.
As Dan looked around he saw Kan barking ferociously at the fish tank. There was a small chihuahua that was barking at Kan but he paid no mind to the dog.
Dan walked over to Dan weaving through the dogs that were chasing the cats and the somewhat docile for no reason snakes.
Dan knelt down and removed his chain. "I'll give this back to you later, your gonna be living here for a few days, I will be checking up on you every day." Kan let out a bark this time at Dan to let him know he understood.
Dan stood up and looked down at the chihuahua that had now shifter its barking from Kan to Dan. Dan took a quick look at the man sitting on the chair. He was rubbing a cats head.
PAAAAAAA
Dan quickly kicked the chihuahua as it flew into a tree. He could hear it's whimpering as it stood up and ran behind the tree. Dan knew it was so injured that it shouldn't move but he knew an animals instinct of self preservation was really good. It was squealing and whimpering so pathetically but this was just music to Dan's ears.
"Don't ever bark at what you can't bite, you dumb bitch! It's annoying!"
Dan placed Kan's chain around his neck. It was heavier than he expected.
Dan walked out of the carriage. When he stepped outside, the man who nearly lost his nose tensed up. Sweat formed on his face. Luckily for him Dan didn't bother to look at him.
Dan just walked to his carriage. As he entered the other man who was standing in front of his carriage opened the door for him.
This carriage was completely likely the other one in the way that it was large on the inside. There were small compartments with slide doors made of tinted glass blocking the view from outside.
Dan followed his nose and he managed to catch the scent from the lady earlier. He stood outside the sliding door and waited three seconds before opening the door.
The lady from earlier on looked up at Dan. She took a good look at Dan before returning to the book she was reading.
'Time to work my charm.' Dan sat down in the seat opposing her. There was only a table that separated the two. He looked outside and saw people just carrying on with their lifes.
He turned towards the lady and stared at the lady. This lady wasn't beautiful she was cute! For some reason Dan felt like he could go to war for her.
"It's rude to stare, don't you think so to?" The lady asked. She hadn't looked up but she knew that Dan was staring at her.
"It is rude to stare, but it would be even more rude to not appreciate a lady's beauty." Dan replied in a deep husky voice.
The ladies heart almost skipped a beat when she heard his voice. It was too sexy to exist!
As she blushed she covered her face to hide it.
"Then stare as much as you like."
"I'm gonna need you to remove that book from your face so that I can see then."
