Dan had managed to find a way back upstairs but not before he found some valuable items. He took the woman's dagger, a pair of silver earrings, Several books, a mirror and a fake moustache. He also found a goblet filled with red liquid and what seemed like cream on top of it.
Like the normal sensible person that he was, he chugged it down without any regards.
"THE FUCK! WHO DRINKS THIS?" Dan shouted. The drink tasted disgusting like a blend of salt, banana and mint.
His body started heating up, his blood flow increased by at least two fold. Dan didn't notice the steam coming from his mouth until it fogged up his vision. A wheezing noise could be heard from Dan's throat and as he breathed in, the sound got louder but got softer as he breathed out.
➡️Hp has increased from (881/881) ➡️ (1500/1500)
➡️endurance has increased from (1800/1800) (E) ➡️ (2600/2600) (F)
➡️Stamina has increased from (1034/1034) ➡️ (1879/1879) (E)
Dan looked at the screen with a blank expression on his face. A few seconds passed when his brain finally realized what happened.
"OH! OH! OH! OOOOOH!" Dan danced in glee. It was just his luck! Who knew that drinking a strange liquid he never saw would increase his stats. After dancing for a few minutes he decided to leave the woman her dagger on the ground a couple metres away from her. She was tied up in her own clothes that he found in her wardrobe. He also left her 4 gold coins and a note explaining how thankful he was.
He got back up through a staircase that led him to a trap door in a room that Charlie was searching through. "Let's go, we got what we came for." Dan said.
Charlie let out a short shriek of terror as he turned around and saw Dan.
The kid held his hand to chest that was beating rapidly.
"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?" He shouted.
"Do what?"
"You crept up behind me and nearly gave me a heart attack. I don't want to die before I even reach double digits."
"Sorry for scaring you," Dan apologised, "I didn't intend to do that, let's go."
Dan walked to the door and was about to leave when he heard Charlie.
"Mister," he looked Dan in the eyes with the intention of saying something but his mouth closed. "Nothing."
Dan sighed and knelt in front of the kid so that they were looking eye to eye. "What is it? Clearly there is something that you want to see."
"Why did you take us in?" he asked without hesitation.
Dan raised one of his eyebrows as if asking what do you mean by that?
"I am grateful for the food you gave us and giving us a place to sleep last night, but no one just picks up two kids of the street to take care for them, there must be something that you want."
"I'm pretty sure that I already told you about my future plans and why I picked you up and whether you believe it or not it is the truth."
"You were lying then, just like you are now." Charlie's eyes were unwavering.
As Dan thought about his words he decided to check his status as he previously had not.

Dan read the status over and over to make sure he did not miss anything. The kids stats were sorry but he made up for it in terms of skills.
Dan was jealous of the regeneration skill. He could heal from any wounds without any worries, but what intrigued him the most was the prodigy skill. 'What does it do?' he asked himself.
As if answering him the screen appeared in front of him.
➡️ The prodigy skill is a passive skill that talented children are born with. A child that has too much talent will make it turn into a skill. It is a skill that let's a person learn everything with ease.
"Interesting, a dragoneborne." Dan muttered out lowly. It was enough for Charlie to hear him.
"How...how do you know?" he asked. Dan did not know what a dragoneborne but he could guess.
"I just know stuff, it's not that big of a deal being a dragoneborne, I met lots of them." he said.
"You met others like me, others of my kind." Charlie was suspicious of Dan, he was ready to run at any moment.
"Well I only met three of them, one of them used to be my friend." Dan noticed Charlie's tensed up muscles. "Listen kid, I know you are suspicious of me right now but I'm telling you if you run away your gonna regret your entire life and wonder what it could have been. I'm not gonna force you in any way to stay with me but I promise you, you will have more than enough power to defend yourself and your brother."
Charlie's muscles tensed up even more. The entire reason why he was suspicious of Dan was because he could not tell whether he was lying or not. It was really hard for him to tell. It seemed like he was telling the truth but he could not shake of this feeling of dread.
'This man is dangerous but he isn't lying, but I'll have to sleep with one open. Anything can happen. I'll stay with him for a month and see where I get and then leave."
"But just so you know if you remain with me the training is a must. It's not a choice." Dan added.
Charlie nodded and after a while Dan stood up and left and Charlie followed him.
They walked for a while before Dan stopped mid track. "Do you know where the exit is?" he asked.
"We'll yes I do, all this time I thought we were looking for something on the second floor but it turns out you were lost."
"Okay kid just lead the way."
This time Dan followed Charlie in what felt like the maze like floor. Dan counted thirteen rooms as he followed Charlie.
Within two minutes they were back down where they came from. As soon as Charlie saw his brother he ran towards him. He held his unconscious brother in his arms. "What happened to him?" Charlie shouted at Dan.
"He just fainted, not that big of a deal. He should been fine just tired." Dan replied. Dan passed the stamina potion in his inventory to Charlie who barely caught it.
"Make him drink it, he should be alright then, I'll be waiting outside." Dan beckoned for Kan who followed him out of the hole they came in from.
His bones made a cracking sound as they were put back into place after Dan came out of the hole.
"The smell of fresh air, for some reason it felt like I hadn't felt it in a long time." From his inventory Dan grabbed the small metal box he had taken from the elven princess when he beat her up.
"Time for a smoke I guess." Dan opened the metal box and the tangy smell of marijuana hit his nose.
"That smells good, I should have stolen from that bitch long time ago. I have to roll myself one now." Dan searched in his pocket looking for something before frowning.
"Fuck, I don't have the paper or the filter. I'm wondering if they sell at these alchol shops."
Dan closed the tin and returned it to his inventory. The two brothers crawled out of the hole.
"Alright let's go, I got to get you some clothes." Dan said.
"Clothes?"
"Yes clothes."
"Your buying us clothes, Why?"
"Why shouldn't I? I'm dragging around kids with tattered clothes. Even I have morals to some extent."
A few hours passed by and Dan had taken the two brothers shopping. They looked completely different. They looked like the definition of rags to riches. Even Kan was upgraded from his old rusty chain to a silver chain embedded with diamond. Dan had too much to burn and he did not care. He even bought himself a ring that was made from meteorite stone that cost 30 gold coins. He didn't even bother haggling down the price.
"You should take of those clothes if you dont want them getting dirty." Dan said.
"No thank you, we prefer to keep them on." Charlie said as he did a spin with the bags in his hands. He was wearing a black shirt and camouflage cargo shorts. On his feet were black and white sneakers. His brother Adam was wearing the same.
"Whatever that's your choice. Let's go, I have to introduce you to Pedro." Dan said.
"Whose Pedro?" Adam asked.
"He's this idiot I am travelling with. He will be teaching you magic sometimes, I guess."
"WE'RE GONNA BE LEARNING MAGIC!" Charlie shouted. People were giving them stares as they were startled by Charlie.
"Why? Is that a big deal?" Dan said raising one eyebrow.
"IS IT A BIG DEAL! YES IT IS!" Charlie could not contain his excitement.
"Most people don't even learn magic, they have to use magical items to use magic. 4 of every ten people use magic items, 3 of them know magic and the rest don't use both." Adam explained.
"So it's a rare commodity, is it in this city or every other city?" Dan asked.
"We're not really sure about other cities since we don't know."
As they were walking Dan's sense of smell picked up something. Tobacco! He followed the scent and it led him to an alchol shop. "Wait outside." Dan told the kids. "And keep an eye on him." Dan said as he pointed a finger at Kan. "Make sure no one agitates him."
As soon as he opened the door a bell rang. Dan wasn't surprised by this as this was nothing new. "What can I help you with young one." A voice said. As Dan turn around he saw an old man behind the counter, behind him bottles of alcohols. The entire shop walls was filled with alchol. Shelves lined with high end and low end liquor. There were even barells of ale.
"Why on earth do I smell tobacco when the entire shop is filled with alchol?" he wondered.
"I need some rolling paper." he said.
"Then I'm gonna need to see some ID." the old man said.
"Eye what?"
