Guy walks towards the pub holding his wounded arm.
He gives Lane a thumbs up, "Do I have the job now?"
Lane crosses her arms, "Please, all you've proven is you don't listen, and by the way, that's only one monster! There are hundreds in Sansen!"
"That's not a problem. Now that I know their weakness, it'll be easy to kill them," replies Guy.
"Excellent work," says a stranger standing across the yard.
Guy and Lane look over and see a light blue skinned man with a mustache.
"Great, who the hell are you?" complains Guy.
"Allow me to introduce myself, I am the Hunter," he politely bows.
"The Hunter?" asks Guy.
The Hunter looks over at the pile of ashes that was the beast, "I was hoping my "Fury" would tire you out, you see I watched you kill my "Thralls", and I feared I wouldn't stand a chance against you."
The Hunter smiles, "Unless I could deprive you of your energy, of course, and it looks as if my plan has worked."
Lane is looking at the Hunter, "blue skin? Where have I seen that before?"
Guy speaks up, "Thralls? I killed them while I was drunk, so tiring me out isn't going to save you."
Lane's eyes widen, and she steps out of the pub, "He's an Elf!"
Guy and the Hunter look over at Lane.
She is confident she figure out the mystery, "I've read about them in school, Elves have blue skin! The army that invaded Sansen was Elves!"
"What the hell is an Elf?" asks Guy.
"You don't remember the old stories from school?" asks Lane.
Guy scoffs, "You think I went to school?"
The Hunter sighs, "This is one of the reasons I was sent to hunt you."
Guy turns his attention to the Hunter, "So you're not the leader! Who sent you?"
"It seems I've said too much," the Hunter pulls out a single magic page, "If you don't mind, I will kill you, then I have questions for the girl."
The Hunter places his hand on the page and it begins to glow.
Guy smiles, "He's gonna use magic, this will be an easy fight."
Lane can feel the energy coming from the Hunter. "How can a single magic page feel so strong?" she thinks.
The Hunter summons a dozen black spikes from the page.
"This isn't normal magic! He isn't straining himself at all!" thinks Lane.
The Hunter fires the magic spikes at Guy.
"Get out of the way!" yells Lane.
He ignores her, Guy takes a direct hit from the Hunter's magic.
Guy lies on the ground with three spikes stabbed in his shoulder and one spike in his hand. At the last second, Guy caught the largest spike aimed at his heart.
"Are you okay?!" yells Lane.
Guy slowly gets to his feet, "I don't understand, I'm immune to Magic."
The Hunter interrupts, "You have an amazing reaction time for a human."
The Hunter raises his hand, and a massive spike begins to form above him.
"Let's see how well you dodge this," the Hunter launches a 30-foot spike at Guy.
Guy turns and runs. Lane watches in amazement as Guy sprints past the pub, followed by the huge spike.
"This shouldn't be possible!" exclaims Lane.
Guy is trying to outrun the spike, but he is wounded and it's gaining on him. At the last moment, Guy side steps the spike and kicks it away.
Guy watches as the spike runs into the tree line, "What kind of magic is this?"
The Hunter gives Guy a round of applause. "Even with one arm, you're very nimble."
"Can you stop being so polite, it's weird," says Guy.
"It is time to be more precise," the Hunter summons dozens of normal size spikes and fires them at Guy.
Guy dives and rolls back and forth as the Hunter tries to impale him. Lane can tell Guy isn't going to last much longer. She looks over and sees Guy's sword in the grass, not too far from her.
"Guy your sword!" yells Lane, but Guy is too busy dodging to respond.
Lane runs out of the pub after the sword.
The Hunter spots her and fires a round of spikes at her, "I would appreciate if you stayed out of this."
Lane stumbles back into the pub, narrowly avoiding his magic. Guy uses the opening to run and hide behind the tree he hit the Fury with.
"Hiding, that's no fun," the Hunter shoots a barrage of magic into the side of the tree.
"Who says I'm hiding!" yells Guy.
Guy spins around and double kicks the fallen tree, sending it barreling towards the Hunter.
The Hunter fires a few large spikes at the massive tree, but it doesn't slow it down. He panics and summons a massive spike, and at the last second he throws it at the tree. BOOM! The spike splits the tree in half, the two pieces roll past him.
The Hunter waves his hand and the massive spike disappears. It was a distraction, Guy used the opening to go for his sword. The Hunter fires a hand full of spikes at him, but Guy slides under them and grabs his sword.
The Hunter shrugs, "That won't help you all the way over there."
The Hunter again fires at Guy. With his one good arm, Guy slices the spikes out of the air and then rolls out of the way of a few others.
Guy holds up his sword, "Time to take out that page!"
He slashes another group of spikes and then jumps, spins, and uses the force of the spin to throw his sword at the Hunter like a missile.
The Hunter smirks and fires at the sword, but it doesn't stop it, the sword is moving too fast. The Hunter step out to the way, and the sword misses the magic page, but instead it slices the Hunter's thigh. The Hunter loses his temper and unloads spikes at Guy. He tries to dive out of the way, but the spikes hit Guy in his good shoulder and throw him to the ground.
Guy can't get up, both his arms are limp. He rolls onto his stomach and crawls into the pub through the hole in the wall. Lane runs up to help him, but the Hunter walks in behind them.
"Excuse me," says the Hunter.
He grabs Lane and pushes her out of the way.
Guy crawls to the bar top and uses a stool to get to his feet. The Hunter turns Guy around and grabs him by the collar. Guy tries to throw a punch, but he can't lift his arms.
The Hunter smiles, "You're exceptionally strong and with the proper tactics you could have killed me, I applaud your effort."
Guy hasn't given up, he notices the broken dagger in the bar top, and reaches for it.
The Hunter sees what Guy is trying to do, "A broken dagger, how symbolic."
The Hunter manifests a black spike in his hand, and places it on Guy's neck, "Thank you for making this so exciting."
He raises the spike in the air, Guy desperately reaches for the dagger.
"And now it's over." Says the Hunter.
