Chapter 12 - Wonder

May 22nd,

"Hey Alex," Emily said, getting my attention. "Why does your world smell like this?"

The scent of maple and cinnamon carried with the wind into our noses.

"I'm not really sure," I said. "Maybe it's because it's my favorite smell."

That was a lie.

As usual, we continued our walk through the woods, waiting for the day when we get sent back to the regular world.

"What part of your past do you think you'll have to fight against?" Emily asked.

"I'm not sure." I answered.

That was also a lie.

We kept on walking until we came across another road that stretched on forever.

"Maybe we should turn back." I said to Emily.

I turned around to head back, but Emily didn't move. I was holding her hand, so I let myself get yanked back to her.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

I took one look at her face and saw a new kind of terror. Fear had completely taken over Emily's entire body. She shook violently and tears and sweat ran down her face. I looked over to where she was looking at.

It was an open field with a night sky. Not a single star was visible. The fields were flooded with tall grass. An old looking car was parked right in the middle with both back doors open.

I could make out a small patch of blood on on of the seats.

"Emily-"

Before I could even say anything to her, the patches of grass suddenly came to life and stretched out straight at Emily. They wrapped around her arms and dragged her to her back and pulled her across he fields towards the car.

"EMILY!"

Without wasting any time, I dashed straight to the car, hoping I could get there in time to stop whatever was about to happen.

"ALEX!" Emily screamed.

She was dragged inside the backseat of the car and reached out to me. I reached out to her as I got closer and closer, but then...

*SLAM!*

Both the doors shut and locked themselves. I pulled on the handles as hard as I could, but the door wouldn't open.

Emily banged on the glass window, begging me to help her get out.

"PLEASE, HELP ME ALEX! I DON'T WANT TO BE IN HERE!!!" She screamed.

I backed up and tried kicking the window open, but it wouldn't break. I kicked and I kicked, but the window remained intact.

"THE WINDOW WON'T BREAK," I screamed to Emily. "COME ON GODDAMMIT! BREAK ALREADY!!!"

I noticed something sitting right behind the terrified Emily. It was a man dressed completely in white. His eyes were bloodshot red and he looked to be crying blood. A horrific smile was carved onto his face.

Now it all made sense. I remembered. The empty fields. The backseat of a car. A man dressed in white. This was what she told me what had happened to her.

This was her dreaded past that she had to face.

Emily noticed me staring and looked behind her. After seeing the horrifying demon behind her, she stopped screaming. She stopped crying. She stopped moving.

Instead, all she did...was cover her face with her hands.

The Man in White grabbed her by the neck and pinned her against the car door. Emily didn't even flinch. She just kept her hands on her face.

A disgusting feeling of anger and pure adrenaline ran through my blood, flesh, and veins. I felt my eyes bulging out of my sockets as tears ran down my eyes.

I walked up to the car's back window...and began smashing it to pieces with my own hands.

"RRAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHH!!!"

I let out a bloodcurdling scream as I smashed my hands on the glass, cracking it every time my tightly clutched fists met the window. It didn't matter if my hands were breaking into millions of pieces because I felt no pain. Here in this world, nothing is held back by restrictions.

The only thoughts the came into my head was how I was going to kill this man. I got a little excited from those thoughts

*CRASH!*

The entire window smashed into pieces after I gave it one last hit. Luckily, the man had only gone as far as grabbing her by the neck, so nothing too terrible was done to her. I grabbed the demon by the color and dragged him out of the car with nothing but the anger that fueled the strength that I never knew I had.

Before that man could even get up, I stomped on his face and didn't stop until I saw a jagged rock on the ground. It was about the size of his head, so I picked it up and smashed his head with it.

"YOU WANT TO HURT EMILY, HUH," I screamed at the man. "TRY THAT! I DARE YOU! I FUCKING DARE YOOOOOUUUUU!!!"

The sound of his skin and flesh squishing together along with a disgusting cracks of his skull breaking apart filled my ears as my hand, along with the rock and the grasses around me, turned a brutal shade of red. Bits and pieces of his skull along with chunks of his skin and flesh splattered all over me as I continued to bash the cunt's brains through the ground.

I never stopped. I continued to smash the rock down onto his head even after all I was smashing now was the ground. I kept at it the entire night. All of this pent up anger that I had from all those years of being trapped inside that little box. Everything that I let built up inside of me was now being poured out onto this man's head.

I never stopped until I ran out of strength. I let myself fall asleep after straining my mentality far too much. I never even stopped to ask if Emily was ok. I just let myself fall asleep until the sun rose again, greeting me with another fresh scent of maple and cinnamon.
