Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

"I don't want to go," I moaned in protest as my best friend grabbed my wrists and pulled me off the bed. Since we weren't that different in size, she managed to actually move me off the bed. I planted my feet on the ground before I face-plant the floor as she gives me one last hard tug.

"You are going. You need to stop moping over whatever shit you decided to mope on this week and get out of the house. I mean, seriously, it's not like this is a religious ritual that you need to do every week." She wrinkled her nose at the state I was in. I pouted, furrowing my eyebrows at her, "How do you know it's not?" Kimmy gives me a pointed look that says, "I know it's not, you dipshit." I huffed in annoyance as I lifted a dirty shirt from the floor with my foot and kicked it into the laundry basket at the corner of the room. "Go shower, I'll pick out some clothes and do your hair and make up. You are going, period." She ordered, clapping her hands. "Now, chop chop." I tilted my head to look at the ceiling as I let out an exaggerated heavy sigh to express my disapproval before begrudgingly trudging to my bathroom to shower before she strips me and assault me because I know for a fact that she will. The bitch did not understand what personal space was. The word simply did not exist in her dictionary. When I got out of the shower, Kimmy was already waiting by the bed, ready with an outfit picked out for me to change into. She threw me the garments and I caught it with my hand that wasn't holding the towel wrapped around my body. "This better not be too revealing or too tight or I swear to all that is almighty -" "Just get changed!" Kimmy cut me off, waving her hand in circles for me to get moving and go back into the bathroom. I rolled my eyes, walking my butt back into the bathroom and changing into the clothes she had picked out for me. To her credit, the clothes weren't too tight or revealing. They were long black jeans and a cute top that had spaghetti straps but didn't have a plunging neckline that would show off any cleavage. I shrugged to myself at my appearance and exited the bathroom to gain an approving nod from Kimmy a.k.a my stylist.

She beamed at me, giving me two thumbs up before grabbing me by the shoulder, spinning me around and pushing me to the vanity desk to get my make up and hair done. I closed my eyes as she worked her magic on me. 2 hours later, yes, it somehow took her two hours to get me ready. Don't ask me what took her that long. All she would tell me was "beauty takes time". Since Kimmy didn't feel like being the designated driver tonight, because we both know that the chances that I come out of the party sober was close to none, she left her car at home and had one of her friends pick us up at my place. There were already three other people in the car when they pulled up at my driveway. Apparently, my house was the last stop. Kimmy and I got into the backseat with another girl and Kimmy's friend that was driving reversed the car to get out of my driveway and headed for the main road, driving us to the party. I wasn't familiar with any of the girls in the car except for the one driving. I know that Kimmy knew her because she was her mom's friend's daughter. They got introduced a while back and the party we were going to was being thrown by someone from their school. Kimmy got wind of it from the aforementioned mom's friend's daughter. Introduction were made and friendly smiles were passed around once we got in the car before the real conversation started. And by "conversation" I meant "fangirl-session". "Did you guys hear who's coming to the party?" The girl that sat shotgun, Melissa, gushed, glancing at the driver and craning her neck to look at us, who were sitting behind her. The girl sitting beside Kimmy, Paige, answered her with the same amount of excitement in her voice. "Oh my God! I know, right? I've been dying to try it out!" Eve, or Evelyn, Kimmy's mom's friend's daughter a.k.a our driver for the night, simply threw fuel into the fire that her friends sparked and soon enough, all three of them were going wild with "OMGs"and "No way!'s". I leaned forward in my seat, looking between the girls in confusion before looking at Kimmy, who simply shrugged at my questioning look.

Were they talking in codes or what? I feel like I was missing something here. I guess girls that I wasn't familiar with were too busy getting excited to notice my perplexed expression or they simply couldn't be bothered to explain to me what the flipping heck they were talking about. I finally decided to let it go after a while, realizing that I'll probably never figure it out unless they chose to tell me themselves. The party was half an hour away and the entire car ride continued with the girls talking among themselves about this thing they're dying to try and this hotshot that was coming to the party. Are they a celebrity or something? I seriously don't get what the hype is all about. I turned my focus to the blurred view outside my window instead, watching as we zoomed past buildings and roadsigns. It felt like forever before we finally reached the party. My ear felt hot after having to endure all the squealing, gushing and Mia's occasional shrieking to describe how they fangirled in the car during the entire ride. Let's just say I've used up half of my energy, holding myself back from spoiling their mood by getting cranky and telling them to shut up. Don't wanna get thrown out of the car in the middle of the highway here, do we? I nearly kissed the lawn once we reached the house that the party was being thrown in. Just like most of the party I've been to, the host's house was huge and could've easily passed as a mansion although it wasn't quite as big to be called one. Cups littered their lawn and I saw someone bending over, hands propped on their knees as someone held their hair up while she threw up a few feet away on the grass. Yuck. Okay, forget what I said about kissing the lawn. I take it back. Scratch it, it never happened, I never said it.

Thank God I didn't have a weak stomach, otherwise, I would've gagged and retched alongside the girl at the sight of what she's doing. But just to make sure my body doesn't get any ideas, I quickly looked away and followed Kimmy and her friends towards the front door. Apparently, there was no need to knock and the door wasn't really locked. I mean, then again, I don't think anyone will be able to hear a knock on the door or even the doorbell with the blaring music that filled the house. It was a bit muffled when the door was closed but once Eve pushed the door open, we were instantly exposed to music that could've been charged for assault on our eardrums. I've been to plenty of parties before, it wasn't like I was a completely boring person, I've had fun in them too. But this was just downright uncomfortable. The volume of the music physically hurt my eardrums and I had to pray that my eardrums won't be damaged after going to this party before actually stepping into the house. Once we were inside, it didn't take long for the crowd to swallow us up and separate me from the girls. I didn't really panic since it wasn't exactly my first time being parted from my group before. I tried to look around and enjoy myself as best as I could. I inched towards the dance floor to let myself fall into the music. It took me a while to actually start enjoying it but I guess my eardrums took one for the team and I was able to finally get used to the uncomfortably loud music. I started moving my body towards the beat of the music and closed my eyes. I got to dance for a few minutes before hands wrapped themselves around my torso and spun me around. Now, after going to several parties, I wasn't shocked anymore at the sudden intrusion of personal space. I'm not even going to get started on my first time dancing at a party. Let's just say I could've been charged for assault and battery.

However, I did open my eyes when they twirled me around to face them. Just to make sure that I wasn't dancing with a creep, you know. And boy, was I glad I did. No, he wasn't drop dead gorgeous or smoking hot. Quite the opposite, he looked wasted and he had bloodshot eyes. It was my first time seeing someone in his state but my best guess was that he was high. I controlled my facial expression and tried to get out of his grip while continuing to dance so that I won't trigger him. After several parties, you learn to master the art of slipping away subtly by dancing slash slithering yourself out of the situation. I tried to pull one of my most reliable moves but when his grip on my waist only tightened, I finally gave up and stepped on his toes with my 6 inch heels. Yes, heels are death traps but when mastered and used right, they're deadly weapons too. The guy's expression morphed into a pained one and if the music wasn't so loud, I know people would've been able to hear his howl of pain. He let go of my waist to tend to his now injured toe. I turned on my heel and left him on the dance floor to get something to drink in the kitchen. It took me a while to navigate my way to where the kitchen was because the house was just so big and packed with people. I finally found it, and surprise surprise, it's also packed with people. What really surprised me, though, was how many people were in the kitchen. There must've been more people in there than on the dance floor. Which was ridiculous. People would think that the party revolved around this one room rather than where the music was. I craned my neck to see past the multiple heads that were blocking my view of what all the fuss was about. I didn't get to see much, only someone who looked like he was spilling powder onto the table? What the..

I inched forward to get a better look, my curiosity piqued by the glimpse I caught. At a closer glance, I realized that he didn't spill it necessarily, he was pouring the powder onto the table purposefully and arranging them as multiple lines. As I watched someone else walk up to one of the line with a straw, I finally understood what was happening. Idiot. But just as the realization dawned on me, an earth-shattering scream broke through the party and cut it short. "COPS!" Someone screamed, somehow beating the sound of the music blasting out of the speakers before it got cut off abruptly the next second and got substituted by the screams that erupted from the crowd as everyone dispersed in different directions. The people in the kitchen were quicker than me to react and I was soon getting shoved out of the way as they rushed through the kitchen doorframe to find the nearest escape. For once in my life, I felt like I was actually guilty of something and should fear for my life now that the cops were involved, although, technically I didn't really do anything. But witnessing what happened and being in the same party as the people snorting drugs was enough for my heart rate to spike and my hands to go clammy. I looked around wildly, not knowing which way to go since I've never fucking been here before. I don't normally curse but if you haven't been able to tell by then, I was freaking out. I went "fuck it" in my head and started bolting down a hallway after a bunch of kids, hoping that it was a way out of the place that wasn't guarded by the cops.
