Chapter 1 - Chapter One - 'There are no sad endings, only new beginnings'

(See synopsis for prologue)

Carver glanced up from his book yet again, the feeling of being watched causing a sense of unease in him.

After the threat (or was it a warning?) on the standard had been read, he had decided to stay up the rest of the night. Periodically a sense of extreme unease would flood him as the sense of being watched by an unknown entity increased.

As he pointed his flashlight around the room, he was taken aback. His painting of the figure supposedly named Sanguine, was gone. Quickly he checked the rest of the room, and finding nothing else unusual, sighed in relief.

If only he had checked out the window above his head. . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"Ughhh" Carver groaned as he awoke, sitting up and holding his head. Once his head stopped hurting so much he looked around.

They were in a luxurious looking room with a colour palate that was limited to reds, and shades (black, grey, and white).

Quickly he realised that he was in a room not his own. Upon this realization, like any other person he had a slight panic attack.

'Where am I? Why am I here? Who brought me here? And why does this room appear well lighted even though there are no sources of light?!'

Before they could continue panicking a soothing ding sounded.

*Ding*

>Hello user G-927401, welcome to your new life<

>Please do not panic as you're in a (currently) safe environment.<

>Your hud will now appear in the forefront of your vision.<

>In the future if you would like to see or move your hud, please just think about it.<

>Thank you, and have a nice (un-)life!<

Just as the voice said, a slightly transparent hud screen appeared directly in front of Carver. It didn't look much different from what would be expected from a video game hud, name, race, class, level, stats, inventory tab, quest tab, and store tab. However the sudden information that appeared in front of him, as well as the information itself caused Carver to have a slight panic.

Carver spent a few minutes calming himself down before focusing on the fact that instead of being marked as a human, they are marked as a vampire.

Quickly he thought back to the previous messages from this thing in his head. It had said to enjoy his un-life at the end.

'This must be what both this system and the painting meant, I'm in a state of undeath, also known as being undead.'

Another abnormality in the message from the system they noticed was that it said he was in a currently safe area.

'Does that mean it will eventually be dangerous?' He thought to himself, 'Then I'll have to finish examining this thing quickly.

As he focused on the quest tab, his hud changed

As soon as Carver finished looking at the quest he heard another notification.

*Ding*

>Congratulations! You've completed your fist quest! You have gained the following as rewards; Inventory (Basic) unlocked, Class choice card, 2 free stat points, 10 exp. <

When Carver looked at the hud again, it had changed slightly.

As anyone with a motivation to survive would, Carver immediately thought about using the class card.

'It would allow me to start getting stronger faster. . . Why not?' He concentrated on using the card.

*Ding*

>Would you like to use your 'Class choice card'?<

>Y/N<

'Yes'

>Congratulations! You've gained access to a class of your choice! Please choose one that you believe will suit you!<

A long list that appeared to go on and on replaced the current display. Taking a quick glance Carver was instantly overwhelmed. Then he saw a filter option. He filled in the filter with the following.

Race compatible: Vampire

Gender compatible: Male

Specific options looking for: Magic, Blood Control, Shadow Control, Spatial Control

Cultivation Options: disabled

Search?

Y/N

'Yes'

A significantly shorter list of 5 options appeared.

#1) Blood Controller.

>Through the use of skills directly related to the use and control of blood, the members of this class gain power over the life and death of all with a bloodstream.<

#2) Shadow Controller.

>Much like elemental controllers, the members of this class use something fundamental to all, a shadow, after all, darkness is the absence of light, and nothings perfect. Right?<

#3) Mage.

>Through the use of study and research, the members of this class slowly gain power over things great and small. Just be prepared to grow a beard long before you gain control over anything greater than a tree.<

#4) Spatial Users.

>The members of this class use the powers of space to gain power. From things as small as a dimension storage pocket, to universe wide teleportation, these users have control over that which things move through and exist in.<

#5) Random.

>User will randomly gain abilities deemed suitable by the system. Preferred by many who are indecisive, and unable to make a decision.<

He thought about it moment, and focused on one.

>Are you sure?<

>Y/N<

He nodded, 'Yes, confirm'
