As the chant continued, a smile formed in Sophia's lips.
'Isn't this pleasing to see?'
'A bunch of kids worshipping a girl. A very foolish and stupid girl? Who's already … dead.'
Sophia squinted her eyes as a cold glint passed through. It was soon followed by a mocking glare.
'How could they worship such a foolish girl? We're they stupid enough to not see how much of an idiot and a pushover this Sophia was?'
Sophia was wrong though.
Those people, they weren't worshipping a pushover girl who couldn't see through her own family's schemes. They were worshipping the girl who had fought with terrorists, and gave the country key information about many invasions and other battles. Battles she had managed to put a stop to because of her successful work.
To them she was an idol. Someone who had made countless accomplishments. Ones that seemed rather impossible even for a man but she, Sophia Harper, made them possible.
She was a legendary woman.
A woman who was brave, strong, clever and kind. Someone who had a warm heart despite the heartless jobs that they do.
She was a rare species.
And yet.
She told them she was dead?
Was there something or someone who was smarter than her? If not how did she die?
How could someone so strong and clever as fox ever die? What happened?
The matter of death for Sophia Harper entailed two different stories.
To outsiders and perhaps even to KL, Sophia Harper, the legendary women died not because she wasn't able to outsmart her enemy but because she was the cause of her own death.
To everyone she had killed herself in a fire because she couldn't control her heart.
Considering how Sophia took everything little action to heart and did her best to love back and return the kindness ten fold, not being able to control her love for her ex- fiancé seemed like a really … good reason.
Layla was really smart. Especially for someone who has been able to play as the weak and frail girl that would blow away at the slightest push. Or maybe she was a really great actress? How else could she have hidden her true self from Sophia for so long?
When Layla set the room on fire, she didn't just kill Sophia. She had done more than that.
She had also killed off any suspicion from her very suspicious death.
Four years.
Sophia was inside that room for four years.
Under normal circumstances, a missing person report would've been reported for her after 48 hours if not perhaps a little more into the future but not one missing person filed was reported for Sophia in the four years that she was in that room.
The people of Sugar Honies couldn't do so.
They were told from Sophia herself that she would be away for a while due to a personal secret mission.
If they filed a missing person report, it would be the same as digging a grave for their idol. How in the world could they have the heart to do that to someone they really admired from the bottom of their hearts?
As for her fathers company which she lead according to normal people, well Layla and her father told them she was working on something else and was taking a break from Royal Harper Corp.
The employees working there naturally believed the father and sister whom Sophia had wholeheartedly doted on in front of them. Thus the only people left to ever worry about Sophia was …. Her family.
Sophia's father, Davion, her step- sister, Layla and her ex-fiancé, Jackson.
They were the only people left in Sophia's small world.
However, they were the ones who put her in that room so why would they report a missing person report?
So they could dig a grave for themselves?
Heh.
That was impossible.
Without a person to care for her whereabouts at least in public, Sophia was kept inside the room for more than four years.
People were suspicious for not hearing any news of her for the years that went by but the family had everything under wraps, hence Sophia's stay inside that room continued on.
People came and went.
To be exact it was men.
Men came and went but they didn't go to look at her. They didn't go to look at who the young lady that they were going to f*ck was.
Rather they went to look, and destroy her once beautiful body into thin bones. They had made her a painting mess.
Black and purple wounds had covered her body day in and day out. And yet before they could even start to fade another batch would come to add some more 'paint'.
A mocking sneer formed in Sophia's as she looked around the room to distract herself. The self-deprecating glare in her eyes shone brightly for more than a second before Sophia forced it back inside her and to the depths of her already numb heart.
The people inside the room were still chanting and sorting out their thoughts to see her moment of carelessness.
Sophia easily collected herself and opened her mouth to put a stop to this huge nonsense happening in front of her.
"Enough!" When her loud but cold voice sounded clearly all throughout the room, the girls and the doctors all froze.
With their mouths wide open they they looked up at Sophia. Confusion filled up their minds. It was enough to make them forget about crying and even realize what was happening around them. They only had eyes for Sophia who was sitting down at the very center on a high chair, overlooking them all like a powerful queen on the throne.
"Sophia Harper is dead but wouldn't you like to know what happened? WHY the strong and mighty Sophia died?" Sophia dragged out the 'why' and emphasized on it. A sly smile formed on her lips as she stared at everyone in front of her.
'WHY she died?'
They all knew what that meant.
Sophia Harpers death wasn't as simple as a suicide! While the girls were still a little muddled about the happenings around them the experienced doctors knew what that meant! Their eyes started to shine brightly.
Finally!
Finally there was someone who knew more than what was revealed! Someone who knew Sophia didn't die because she killed herself!
Tears suddenly started streaming down their faces once more. Especially the doctors who have personally seen the news of Sophia's death and were mourning her secretly even to this day.
In their hearts Sophia, no matter how kind her heart was, she wouldn't kill herself just for mere affections of the heart!
She was a mercenary!
A person who did more than just fight. She risked her life time after time without fear for LAYLA, not JACKSON!
Even if she loved her sister, she still had no affections for Jackson himself so why would she kill herself just because she couldn't accept them getting together?
Because she loved Jackson? Heh. That would be the world's biggest lie!
Sophia loved Layla but it was that of sister to sister not from a women to women that often entailed s*x. Besides, Sophia was a strong girl both mentally and physically.
If she really couldn't stop her heart for some reason why would she wait for four years?
What exactly happened in those four years?
As everyone suddenly went down the same line of thought their eyes narrowed down to slits as a similar cold glint passed through their eyes.
The temperature inside the room dropped a few degrees simultaneously as they realized that their thoughts since her death weren't uncalled for.
Sophia's death was really something more than a suicide.
