Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The School Map

It was already six-thirty in the morning, and yet Velocity is still in bed. The blonde's droopy yet piercing bored eyes drove holes at the ceiling. Velocity didn't even bother with fixing her nest-looking hair sprawled messily on the bed. She just lay there like the dead.

If someone would ask Velocity why she was already feeling this early in the morning, she'd not be bothered asking. She's already lazy at it is, and frankly, if it were up to Velocity, she'd rather skip school. Forever.

Another school year, and now she's a Senior, Velocity was quite surprised she still reached Senior with the rate she's going. Note to herself, find Will. Find the will to do stuff, all damn over, again - For two damn years. Another four years again after graduating if she ever gets accepted in college. Thinking about how Velocity's life is supposed to be in the future makes her sink even more on the bed. A groan left her lips as he pushed her self to get out of bed.

Even acknowledging her parents and sisters are now taxing to her, that's a surprise for Velocity's day.

Jaycee, after seeing, Velocity came down from her room with messy hair. The second oldest girl stifled a laugh. Velocity looked like someone tried to steal her clothes and ended up fighting like girls - pulling hairs. And Jaycee knows for a fact that her big sister won't be pulling a girl's hair ever for a fight. Velocity preferred punching and kicking, and Jaycee agreed with that fact.

Jaycee wave at Velocity, which Velocity ignored. It was too early for her to laugh at Jaycee's antics and headed straight for the milk on the table and a bowl of cereals. No matter what her sister does, Velocity always seems to either smile or often laugh at something she said or did. Her sister just hits differently is the only answer Velocity can think of.

Her day was almost turning out to be good when her father made his presence known at the table. "You're going to be in Juleston High now. That's different in your previous school." he started. "Be sure you can take it in there." his deep voice made it clear for no retaliation, and this made Velocity darken.

Of course, her day won't start without her mother's words too. Velocity's mother doesn't want to be left behind with the talk. "Study good and don't do unnecessary things. Preferably, don't get yourself acquainted with a group of friends," she said warningly at Velocity, which always made her feel as if their words are choking her - this made eating her favorite breakfast taste dull and irrelevant. Her mother isn't finished with her role yet, and Velocity is bracing herself for the final blow. "Again, as we always tell, no relationship allowed. Get yourself a lover when you already have a job. Don't ever break this rule or you two," her mother glaringly pointed at Jaycee, who seems a bit uncomfortable, and lastly to Velocity, "-or get ready to pack your things and leave our house." she said, emphasizing the part about being disowned. And honestly, the idea was tempting to Velocity.

She pushed away from her half-eaten cereal and slowly risen to not seem as if she disagrees with her parents. If she stands up too fast, they'll say Velocity is being a rebel again that will lead to arguments and to shaming her.

Right now, she wants to go to her new school and find a nice cozy sleep to sleep.

Velocity ignored Jaycee's gaze, even the eyes of her two little sisters, as she went back to her room to get ready. Welcome Velocity's life, she smirked inside her mind - it's not all that bad as school is like a living meme. It's Velocity's medicine.

She opened the door to her bathroom, hoping the activity might distract her.

She went to Juleston National High School by bike. It was tiring, but Velocity couldn't complain as the action completely washed away the events earlier in her mind.

Velocity can already see through the gates that there are many students at this early. It is the first day of school, after all, everyone wants to get together with their friends and share their awesome vacations with each other. Not like they haven't done that already. Velocity shrugged at the thought and agree that talking in person hits differently as they say.

She can attest to that as she feels that way when listening to her sister than reading her chats. Too tiring because Velocity has to imagine her sister's voice and tone while reading the messages.

Velocity reluctantly went to the school map posted at the guard office's wall. A group of students was already surrounding the only thing that can make Velocity's awaiting nap happen. She sighed in annoyance and fished out her phone from the pocket of her skirt. Among the new students there, she stands out. Literally, Velocity even with her tall height, still stands on her toes for good measure, as she lifts her phone and snapped a pic.

Seeing a flash, those who were surrounding the map all looked behind them to see a tall blonde checking the pic from her phone, and slowly walked away from them without a glance.

Soon, everyone was fishing for their phone too. They were so embarrassed for not thinking about it earlier - all were excited to go to their respected classrooms. Out of excitement, their logical side left their brains.

They were so ashamed of themselves.

"I'm not the only one embarrassed, right?" a boy blurted out as he gripped his bag.

The question earned a lot of groan from the new students. "Shut up. We were supposed to be smarter because we are Juleston students, yet that intelligence was nowhere to be seen half an hour ago as we pushed each other here." a shorter girl ranted, annoyance etched on her voice.

The boy who was in front of the map for minutes now can only look down. "Somebody bury me right now."

A few turns here and there, also some stairs, and Velocity find herself on the third floor of the building. It was a hassle for her knowing she needs to climb up three sets of stairs just to get to their classroom. She feels like just staring up from the ground to where she was assigned.

As she was climbing the stairs, a group of students passed her who were talking loudly. The topic was familiar too.

"Hey, girl. Did you hear about the incident at the Guard House?"

The girl behind the three fastened her step at the mere idea of a gossip. "Oh! What happened? Is it some juicy breakup or comeback? Or maybe fight between two girls?" she asked giddily.

The tallest girl eyed her with such an expression. "Anyway, no. Rumors have it that the new students this year are not to be feared."

The girl with glasses nodded in agreement. "Heard they were all hogging the school map like some kid not until some blonde girl took a pic and that's when they all realized their idiocy."

The girl at the back looks at her friend. "I guess one transferee is not an idiot. Think she'll be a competition?"

The three girls chuckled as the tallest answered. "Hardly, but imagine the scene though. Wish I was there when it happened."

"The transferees are going to live with this."

The four girls laughed together as they reached the last step of stairs and walked straight to the hallway. Velocity watched them go as more stairs await here. Thinking about earlier, about what the group was talking about, Velocity can only hope the reputation of the transferees remains as it is.

"I don't want any expectation. This must be a blessing from heaven to make my first year as a Senior be the best as possible." she grinned all tooth and bowed as she passed a window. "Oh Goddess of Luck, thank you for labeling us transferees idiot."
