Chapter 2 - Life after rebirth

Our mother, Alice Leywin, and our father, Reynolds Leywin,  were the best people I have encountered. In my previous life after losing my parents I suppressed my emotions to all but one, yet i found myself growing to care for my new parents. Mother was a kindhearted and warm person, almost angelic while our father was a idiotic yet charismatic person.

She often took us to the rural town she called Ashber, with me and Arthur strapped to her on opposite sides. Tests stood on both sides of the dirt trail with merchants and salesmen selling all sorts of things, from everyday necessities to weapons, armors and...weird glowing rocks? People carried weapons freely. One man of roughly 170cm was displaying an axe bigger than him. My brother was no better, he was as confused as I was. Mother seemed to talk to us often, probably to enhance our understanding of the language. I found myself falling asleep fairly quickly..... Damn this infantile body.

Later that day sitting beside my brother on mothers lap we were watching the prayer like chant our father was reciting for almost a minute, while I found myself inching closer to the edge of our human seat while Art almost fell off in anticipation. After an eternity of waiting  multiple fist sized stones levitated and were flung to a nearby tree.

Wait...that was it?

I saw art flailing his arms, on closer inspection I noticed the disappointment in his face too.

But my idiotic dad thought our actions were in awe and replied with, "Your daddy is awesome, huh?!"

No, no you're not, atleast not in elemental magic.

His fighting prowess with his iron gauntlets however was impressive. His fists were powerful enough to break the sound barrier, at the same time it was fluid enough to leave no openings. His high-class skill would be difficult for the old me to counteract without my weapons. In spite of all this all he was to me was my idiotic father.

This new world was simple enough where ones power and wealth decided the kind of life he would live. All in all it was quite similar to my old world, minus the technology and magic replacing ki.

This world still had the system of wars, whereas in my world it had become obsolete where disputes between countries was settled with duels between the rulers or their representatives if they were unfit to duel at the moment. I was one such representative, the loyal right hand man of my king. The smaller disputes were settled by small scale battles with limited firearms.

Enough about my old world. The currency system in this world was straightforward as well, with copper being the lowest form of currency, followed by silver and then gold. Nothing in Ashber cost more than a few silvers, so I hadn't seen any gold, yet. It seemed a few coppers per day was enough for the average family.

100 coppers = 1 silver

100 silvers = 1 gold

I started honing my new body with the skills I learned in my previous life.

My comfortable regime would soon change however.
