Chapter 3 - Three

THINGS WERE GOING WAY TOO WELL to be true. Of course, they were. And here I thought that besides my family's mistreatment, everything was going according to my plan.

Ha... as if God would be so good to me. No, no, no. It seems like, again, I'm living in hard mode.

A week before my twentieth birthday masquerade ball, which was going to be held in our territory in the south of the Kingdom, I learned the truth. Rather… I saw with my own two beautiful eyes what they did. What Jacob did!

When I thought they would finally leave me alone regarding my engagement, they plotted the opposite of that. My stepmother, who was now the Countess after mom died, made sure my plans of marrying Jacob wouldn't work. She made sure of that by putting my half-damned sister Cecilia, on our chess board as a key piece for that.

And while I had my eyes on matters I judged to be more important, she went there and made my fiancée, Jacob, fall in love with her. If he wasn't already and I didn't have the slightest idea about it, which sounds like possible after all I saw.

Cecilia, very much like her mother, was amazing at getting in the way of my future perfect relationship, by using her body to get what she wanted.

On the day it all came down, I had gone downtown with Sir Lawrence and Sir Gavin, my Knights, to see if there were any new books in the local bookstore, Bookish Dreamland. And although I had first decided to eat outside, out of a spite, I chose to eat back in the Castle. When I arrived there, Jacob's carriage was right there, in front of the stairs that go up to the entry of the castle.

And so were Sir Madison and Sir Allison, his Knights with whom I was already quite familiar after our years of being engaged.

"Fir-first La-lady Ho-Hope Bissonnette?" Sir Madison, the taller, broader, and more intimidating Knight spoke, sounding confused. "What is it that you are doing here, Lady?"

I arched my eyebrows, finding his behavior of his extremely weird. But before I could say a word, Sir Gavin, my Knight, spoke for me. "Have you forgotten in which Castle you are in, Sir Madison? What kind of stupid question is that?"

"What are you doing here? Didn't your master come to see the Lady, his fiancée? Here she is!" Sir Lawrence exclaimed annoyed. "Now step out of our way before we make you!"

They shared a strange gaze and didn't move, making me sigh. "If you don't move in two seconds, I'll get both of your heads on a spike in a minute!" I said firmly, with a stoic expression, coming dangerously closer to them.

Gasping, they stepped out of my way in the same instant and I didn't even look back at them. Heading straight to where the Head Butler, Sir Mountain was, with fear all over his face. He came to me and stood in my way, "La-Lady Hope, you came sooner than you said you would."

Scoffing, I glared at him, "I'll pretend you didn't just say that Sir Mountain or I'll have to punish you for your audacity. Now, tell me. Where is my fiancée?"

He swallowed, "My Lady.."

"Where. Is. My. Fiancée?" I questioned already out of patience, with fire in my eyes and I saw as he trembled.

It took him less than a minute to speak, "H-he's in Lady Cecilia's chambers, my Lady!" He muttered looking down.

I saw red, "Jacob is where?"

"In Lady Cecilia's room!" Sir Mountain whispered again, and I could tell how his shoulders were shaking. "He's been there with the Lady since he arrived, around 20 minutes ago, my Lady."

"It seems like she took the whore side of her mother," I exclaimed through greeted teeth. "Prepare three buckets of cold water and bring them to me in a second!" I gave the order and he disappeared right away, utilizing his spatial magic for it.

Not everyone in the world has magic, but it's rare to see a Noble or Royal without it. And until now I've been pretending like I'm magic-less, and that I have some kind of malfunction. Thankfully those dumbasses hadn't doubted it at all. They are probably glad about it.

What would they say if they learned that I possess both telekinesis from my mom's side, thunder magic from my dad's, and the rare shadow magic that has been long lost on mom's bloodline? Not to mention how I've been struggling to control it without anyone noticing. But now, at almost 20 years old, I can say that I'm pretty good at handling all of them.

However, I have to keep it a secret, since in the novel it's said that it's extremely rare to find someone with three different types of magic, whereas two types aren't common but aren't that rare either. While shadow magic has been long gone, since the last time someone had it, it was around 600 years ago, someone from mom's side, who had a big role in the first World Magical War back there.

So, yeah, if I want to stay low profile, I have to at the least keep the shadow magic a secret. And the fact that it's easy for me to handle enchantments and for me to make potions as well.

If my family ever got a handle on any of those two pieces of information, they would use me for sure, and would also make it impossible for me to leave. And that's absolutely a no-go.

When the butler came back with a Knight, carrying the buckets of water, I ordered them to follow me. Together with my Knights, we climbed the stairs until we reached the third floor, where our chambers were located. And to my disgust, from the hallway, we could hear loud and shameless moans.

"How could they?" I muttered disgusted with the betrayal. "Fucking shameless!"

"My Lady!" My Knights spoke together, worried.

"It's alright. I can handle it!" I muttered, preparing myself mentally for what I was going to see the second I opened her doors. And to my dismay, they were unlocked! "This must be a bad joke!"

And then they came into view. Both were naked, and to my relief, he didn't look big, but rather quite below average. However, Cecilia's body wasn't at all as graceful as mine, since she has a rectangle body shape and small breasts that seem to be smaller than my hands, and she also doesn't have a beautiful ass or anything. She's pretty much plain and boring to look at.
