Sparks flew in the air as the metal blades clashed against one another. The blades were vastly different, one being a long sword with a crest of a phoenix engraved onto it, the other was a sleek black katana, flower petals carved into the dark mahogany handle of the blade.
The ghost knight had the upper hand, overpowering Jin and knocking him back. Jin smirked, getting a feel for his opponent's strength. He knew he needed to activate his ability and get serious , so he focused his mana throughout his body and activated [Body Compression Rank Low F]. The knight let out a light chuckle before a more serious look twisted onto his face, "Well alright then, time to get serious."
The knight picked up a small round shield with a phoenix's chest engraved into the centre, he then pushed back his left leg and got into a stance Jin had never seen before. The knight had both his shield and sword in his right hand.. Their eyes connected as they rushed towards each other, preparing for a battle of their lifetime. Well, that is if you could count a Ghost's 'Life'time.
Jin first attacked on what appeared to be the weak side of the knight, however the knight instinctively blocked Jin's attack with his shield, followed up with an elbow to his face.
As soon as it's elbow connected to Jin's face, he slammed Jin down with his shield. Jin hit the floor but didn't waste any time, grabbing the shield and using it for momentum, throwing himself into position and sending a kick to the knight's face. He didn't want to let go of his advantage so he went for another punch but the knight managed to grab it, throwing him across the room.
Jin twisted his body mid-air, landing then kicking off the wall, punching the knight but only managing to hit the shield. Seeing an opportunity, the knight swung his sword down at Jin but he quickly parried with his Katana, knocking the sword back then kicking the knight square in the face.
The knight tried grabbing Jin's leg but as soon as he reached out, Jin slammed his leg down, causing debris to fill the air. Jin took this chance and tried slashing with all his might but it was blocked by the shield. breaking off a chunk of it when impacted.
The knight tried to hit Jin but he already backed up. He quickly threw his katana and although the knight was fazed as he blocked with his shield, this was just a distraction as Jin came from above but the knight quickly lifted his shield to block.
A loud crash resonated throughout their battlegrounds as Jin's fist landed on the shield, completely shattering. The knight twisted his head around and looked down at Jin, cocking his arm backwards and pulling his sword to the air before slamming it down at Jin, Jin quickly looked around and grabbed his katana and deflected it before backing up to gain some distance.
The knight laughed, a smirk etched onto his ghostly face, "Alright kid, let's stop here, this was just a small test to see if I could truly trust you to beat me, and I can tell you have power and skill so if you pass. Anyways, let me teach you some things."
Jin collapsed onto his knees, exhausted from all the fighting. He rubbed his hands together, a fiery sensation lingered as he did so. The knight continued to speak after a short pause, "First thing I need to teach you is to fix your horrible mana output, whoever taught you this in high school should be put in jail." Jin felt a little uncomfortable for a second before speaking out, "I..I never went to high school. I had to take care of my brother so I dropped out in middle school and got a job."
The knight looked a little embarrassed so he quickly tried to change the subject, "Oh, sorry for my bad manners but anyways we never spoke of our names. I'll go first. I'm Edward Fenikkusu but most people just call me Ed." Jin quickly replied, "My name is Jin Jiyu and I have no nicknames."
Edward began to explain what Jin needed to do, "Alright since I have one as well I can see you have a weak but still present mana eye, so when you activate that weird skill of yours I want you to look at your mana veins and core."
Jin let out a quick and confused gasp, "Weird Skill?" Edward looked at Jin and started to explain, "It seems you have extremely good control over your mana for not knowing anything, so it seems to come from your skill and also I can see you have a protective mana around your body to make sure you don't get much backlash but it seems like it is a passive part of your ability. Alongside your activating part to make yourself stronger it makes it a weird skill or also known as an Irregular Esper."
Jin looked confused and asked, "What is an Esper?" Edward gave Jin a look of pity as he answered, "It is a term used by people to refer to people like you who are born with powers , you probably never heard of it because before high school they use the term "Awakened" to make the kids not think that they are just mind powers like the ones from the old world."
Jin nodded, understanding and he asked, "Can I be alone to do this training? I wanna be in complete silence." Edward nodded floating away leaving him alone in the cave.
Jin activated [Body Compression Rank Low F] but instead of letting it all out at once he let it slowly come out, watching it with his eye. He noticed that no matter how much he moved it some of the mana would always be more concentrated in some places while some had sparse amounts of mana.
He tried to think of why but he was left stuck until he noticed that the mana would always go to the more vital parts of his body. He knew that he had to remove this mental block, so he carefully found where he needed mana the most and took a sword, lightly pricking the areas with it.
Jin fell back to the ground exhausted, groaning from pain but he grinned as he looked up, seeing the notification.
[Congratulations on upgrading Mana Compression Low Rank F to Mana Compress Medium Rank F]
