The goddess, who was in asleep for nearly an entire two days, he looked to her, and waited for her to come to her sense.
Jessica, was slowly opening her eyes, and sat up slowly, she felt a headache overcome her, so she stopped still a moment. Within a few seconds of getting her composer, she looked at Mason, in his eyes and then down to his hands, where most of the blood resides on him.
"How long have I been asleep?" she asked.
"not sure... but almost three full days or so" he told her and continued. "You got some explaining to do..."
"..." she closed her eyes and nodded opening them and looked to him. "I remember... I summoned you... well, I created you to be clear. forgive me, that isn't the proper life cycle that is meant for this world. when your soul comes over, you remain dormant until its time to be born... sadly I had no choice..."
Mason, interrupted. "I can tell... you were almost raped, you home was invaded and so many of your kind were killed, but that inst what I want to know. I wanna know why? and I want to know how will you make it up to me..."
She was surprised he wasn't hassling her. "of course... but... your not mad? I forced you into this world without question or reason other than my own self?"
"You wanted to live, I see nothing wrong with that..." he told her as he sighed.
"Alright... I'll be sure to help you... and if you will it... you may even par take on my body... it's the least I can offer for the world of suffering you'll go and have been through" she offered, but of course nervous about what she did offer. yet saw no other way to aid him.
"no need... and you still haven't answered my question... and I'll make the offer on how you can help me..." he wasn't being hard on, and he wasn't forceful with his demands. he spoke clear and soft tones with her, even if his voice seems harsh, he didn't pressure her.
"Your being awful generous and understanding... but, I should get to it... very well, how should we begin..." she asked and thought.
"why were those humans after you? and why did you exactly summon me?" he asked. "that's all I need and want to know for now... then you get can get food and rest some more." He offered her.
"I made you... because I can't harm anything myself... I'm, I was the goddess of Life. every creature, big or small, i am there mother. I grew attached to my kin, so I choice never to harm them... this vow, is make me also so weak... to bypass this, I created you... well, I only formed your body... I didn't implant any desire for killing, your body and mind and all yours. I only helped develop and mature you... I did nothing more than that."
after she explain, it settled something within him, that his bloodlust, was truly his own desire. not something new after being born a demon.
"Now... the Humans, well they have been loyal to the other gods and goddess, however this generation, has been folling the pope of a certain country. it's church is expanding for years, implanting seeds into generations. over time, the loyalty of the people who worshiped those of God hood, faded. it didn't waver our power, but they were losing faith, that our fault for not acting. but, it hurts knowing that my beloved gods are all dead now... I was born before them in this world. and helped mature them. they watched over humans for as long as I have. there reason for suddenly turning against us... we believe it's the pope, he has been offering his prayers to a God, far beyond us. for beyond what they can even understand or us. we let it go, because we never thought they would rebel and want to eliminate our kind... yet, they did. that's all I know Mason"
she explained clearly, and what she knew of.
Mason took a deep breath sighed once again, but this time, he wasn't sure what to make of this. "Damn... I've had a long few days already, I was much to tired the day before and slept an entire day. I saved these children, and evicted the whole town... then had to kill an army. I had to go through a damn lot while you had your beauty sleep."
"I'm sorry..." she said gripping her wipe sheets.
"don't be... I made the choice to act and do all of this... and you told me what I wanted to know... so now, let me tell you what I want from you..." he told her and looked to her in the eyes.
"Alright... and what do you want me to do?"
"only a few things... one, to help me find my family... you picked out my soul, so you must have seen three others connected to my own... second. I need you to forget about humans, there race will be erased, I've made the choice... the human children here I'll have there bodies altered... but I need your help to genetically modify them... is that possible?" he wondered.
"uh... well hold on... maybe? I've never needed to do such a thing... but, a of them?"
"no, not every human, just the ones who are loyal and willing to be ruled over by me. I don't like humans. even if I use to be one, I will erase every last trace of them..." he said with conviction.
"I can... try... but... nevermind. you've saved me... kept me around, it's the least I can accept after you've been so generous. I will do my best... but at most, I can only make demi humans..."
"that's fine, now lastly, I need you to guide those here. I'm gonna your help and the druid over there... if I'm gonna house a county with no humans... I need help with groing food and teaching them to read and write. that's all" he said to her, and this made her chuckle.
"hehe... it's off putting... hearing man, covered in blood, want to help those under him live with such prosperity. I'll do what I can... and I've wanted a change like this for these innocent souls... so I'll gladly help and if I still have powers... it's all yours to command" she agreed, and now after waking up, she had a good start.
"good... I need to clean up, ask for food.amd I'm sure someone will find it for you" he told her. as he got up from his chair. he left the church, and stood outside now. seeing the woman from earlier who he had beaten, he walked over to her and looked at her as she was busy putting her headless companions into a sack.
she quietly tied the knot and looked up to Mason.
"What is it...?" her voice was timid, and Mason looked down to her in the eyes. she had a fierce nature, but now she was so submissive.
"You freshed up... walk with me and talk to me... I did say I want you to tell me everything you know remember... for one, your damn name..." he told her, as he began to walk along.
she got up and followed him, leaving the bag. "my name is Freda."
"A strong name... I'm sure you were after meeting me. now, why do you accompany them... your not wearing there colors... or some skimpy cloth of the church" he said as she was wearing. a black leather vest with red leather leggings and silver lining along her outfit. her wrist had bracers to help block when she used her weapons, and had brown boots as she walked her heals clicked.
"I was forced to join them. I was hired, but the payment was the safety of my clan. as in, they have them hostage. one at a time for every mission I'd get them back. this was recently... and I haven't been with them very much."
"so in exchange for your cooperation, they let one of your clansmen go... am I correct?"
"yes..."
"how many have you gotten back..?"
"three... they have killed five of already... of my clansmen" she told him, and didn't have much of a choice, at least she believed, but it dawned on her also in that moment. Two questions. "why are you interested? do you plan to just use me like they did...?"
"haha... don't flatter yourself and think your the center of attention... your a mere pawn, for them... and for me. you recall what I told you? I hate repeating myself." he warned her and stared at her with a smirk. his palm were in his pocket, bloody as they were, after time in the open air some was already dried what hadn't fallen or dripped. he was comfortable, coated in the blood of those who got in his way.
"I do... you want me to send a message..."
"good girl, you remembered..." he was now being a sarcastic asshole to her, and she could very well nothing about it. "you'll deliver the heads, as my gift to them... and let them know... that I will be after there church. and what else did I want from you...?"
"information about them..."
"correct... now, your gonna talk about all you know... no matter how little... I'm not interested in saving your clan, I'll just kill them at some point... and you, but do you remember also what I said if you proved useful?" he asked walking up to her and towering over her, he pulled her hair back to get a look at her face. "nice red hair and green eyes... it really will be a shame to kill you..."
she was shaking, the man before her, made her look like a mere pebble beside a mountain. his hand alone on her hair was rough, but also his body so close to her and his massive size was intense to just take in. her body even if she was more slender yet fit as an athlete with some muscle on her, she couldn't compare to his gaint build. "no... you never said what you'd do if I was a good girl..."
even a mighty woman like her, felt like a mere damsel, she was timid and only feeling weak, by his mere body and power. there no ounce of intimidation from him to make her so submissive. "that's right I never said... so let me make this clear to you, and hopefully it drives you to work hard for me... you, your clan, will be set free, and I don't mean I'll kill them or you. what I mean, is that I'll help you bring them over here. wouldn't you like seeing your family again? and wouldn't it be nice to no longer be in the grasp of those filthy rats..." he told her as he then let go of her hair and looked at her in the eyes, making sure she looked at him. with sincerity in his eyes he spoke to her. "and I'll even spare you all, take you as well them in... however I won't allow human life... so I'd have to make you a demi human or at least anything but a human..." he told her and gently let go. "I got blood on your hair... shit... make sure to wash yourself when you can... then I'll have someone help you prepare for your leave..."
She felt so lost. just a moment ago, he was establishing dominance over her, now he was so caring and suddly thoughtful. "Fine! I do it! anything you ask of me!" but that didn't stop her from answering with her heart. "my people need help... and I'm risking a lot as it is... what more do I gave to lose...!" she concluded and looked at him with now a little more lively eyes.
Mason smile, a soft one, and nodded. "good... now your learning to adapt and change... alright... you know what, I got a better idea for you." he said, soon picking up the woman and tossed her over his shoulders. "we are taking a bath together to gave a talk... I feel like you know queit a bit of this church and who to wary of..." he chuckled, now taking the human woman with him.
"ah! eh! wait...!" she squirmed, but the grip over her back was a hard one to break from. so, she just accepted it. "just... don't partake on my body!"
"I would never... truly..." he said to comfort her thoughts, easily, he could have stripped her down and forced him if he so choose to, she knew when he secured her thoughts from such a thing, she was going to be fine. though, she was never us still, having to share a bath with a man.
He had carried he for some time, until they were at the Mason of the previous lord. the rich fool who owned the property and district. he set her down and both began walking together.
"This belongs to a lord... and your just going to walk in and own the place...?" she asked.
"damn right... I killed the dumbass at the plaza, he body is still rotting there if you want to look... this place has housing for the children and woman at the church, I see no better home for them, than the very best. if they are going to follow me, I will want to make sure they are content with all I can offer..." he told her explaining himself.
"Even the human children?"
"no, they're being altered... I have the druid Liz Making changes to there genetic structure... and the help of another woman... a goddess, the goddess of life" he said and she paused.
"wait! one of the gods lived?!" this peaked his attention as he turned to her in the hall they walked.
"What do you mean by that?" he wondered now, but had a good enough guess with what she said and Jessica.
"Well, the army I was with, and the men and General's you killed... we stormed there realm. we killed all the gods, at least we thought we had... but apparently there are gods far to the west as well and south, we were going to march there as well.."
"and kill the other remaining gods?"
"yes... I never liked the idea... my clan are followers of Athena, but we also pay tribute to Ares and Thor."
"your getting off topic Freda... why were you sent there and for what other purpose?"
"ah! yes sorry. in short... the church believes that they aren't true gods... because... the church only believes in one true all power. they believed they were a obstacle for the church. So, they began forming strong individuals, those loyal to the church were picked and experimented on... granting them holy divinity though unethical ways. they want to make the world also ruled by humans. But, no one has confirmed that... lately they have ties to the Elf. And they constantly are ready for war at the border that leads to the domain of demons and devils. there influence has greatly spread through all regions and nations. but of course, many other species and races don't want part of it. in fact some have wanted to consider war to snuff out humans... but I think both sides, humans and other races, know if a war sparked, nothing would be left" she explained and Mason thought.
"they never change... humans are the same... wanting to be at the top of the world, and take what's everyone else's. aren't you all lucky, that I'm willing going to burden this all on my own..." he told her as he looked at her. from she remembered. he did want to kill humans. but if all humans were gone. there would be a continent ready for taking by the other power nation of elves. yet, this didn't concern him, he wanted to kill only humans. "why... do you have such a strong hatred for our kind?" she asked staring at him.
Mason locked eyes with her. "I uss to be one. I know all the evil there are to humans... however. I was never a killer. and I was never born in this world. there was no such thing as a demi human, or elves, or even magic. I lived in a world, were money and status is what made lives easier. I've stolen, lied, bribed and fought like hell. until it was all taken from me, even my own life. I ended up living so beaten down. so abused, neglected and brought down after every struggle, that no matter how hard I tried not a soul would look out for me... I had enough. I snapped. the shred of humanity I had, the hope for them to change, for your kind to grow, it was gone. I couldn't take it any longer. losing what I did on the day I died, was my breaking point... and if I can go back, as strong as I am... I wouldn't hesitate to completely erase them. any glimmer of humanity in me, was killed that day, and now I've become the thing all humans will learn to fear."
Tbe message was clear to her, how couldn't listen. he was once a human. but, what stuck out, was how much he had to lose, and even in his struggle, he hoped for change, for someone to come along. but, when she listened closely, someone did. and that's what made him into this. "you... lost someone... I'm so sorry..."
"no just anyone... my family... two daughters. and a With and a father figuer like no other, they were killed by humans just like them... can you image how much uglier it was in a world with no magic." he turned away and kept walking again.
she kept following his leas again. "I'm sorry! truly!"
"don't be... you did nothing, so you have no reason to apologize" he told her, she didn't notice, but he never hung his head, as it remained firm on his shoulders.
"alright..." she didn't see a demon, not a monster either or anything close to that anymore. she saw a broken man. someone who has suffered a fate even she couldn't fathom. but she did want to understand.
"There's a lot I plan to do... and I'm telling you this Freda, is because I notice something in you. whether that be a liability or loyalty is yet to be determined. What I'm offering... is the safety if this world, from the human race that smothers it with there selfishness... in time... centuries from now... humans will devour every last resource. and spark wars like no other... they will send youth to a war the old and rich started, call it progress, and take those same resource they stole to start another... every race on your world is being treated by there very existence. I only one woman in my old world who made me put up with it. who made tame and control this hated and anger, and they took that away, as well my daughters who were twice as young as you... they took away a father, one who took the responsibility for my mis deads... my goal here, in the end, is to kill off the human race... not a child will be spared... not a single soul... man, or woman. old or young. I will see my mission to the end."
she felt a shiver, seeing his conviction. "thats... a lot to take in..."
"if there was a way to go back home... to my old world.... I will destroy it. I no longer care Freda. the stars humans left on me, the amount of people who wished for my death... you cannot imagine. if there is a way, I'd gladly go back like this, and make ruins of it all... I will not hesitate"
"but, what of your family? shouldn't they have crossed over here?" she asked, as they come to a stop, Mason opened doors leading to the Masons bath as he had then looked to her. "I pray they didn't... because... if they did, it would only be after me... or before... meaning, I would never see them again... but i do hope. I beg and pray they did so I cam be with them... but if you think about it. my daughters, may not even remember me or even know of there last life... my wife, could be old or passed on without me... there is a chance they were also separated... and for all I know gone forever... destined to be born after or before me... but if they are somewhere around. in this era and time. I want another message to be spread. not of my existence or mission, but one that is begging for there safety, for a sign of them for me to find them." he looked back to the bath, that was dormant and empty. the room dim from the lighting of the setting sun.
"we have certainly talked enough... let's just relax in a bath, and prepare for the next day's to come... I may be here relaxing for a momemt... but I will need to get back work once I'm done..." he told her, as he lead the way inside. he got what he needed out of her and now her use for the future would be tested.
Mason took the time to start the bath, having it running again and warmed up. as large as it was, with no one now running the Mason he had to do it himself as the bath soon warmed thanks to his fire, as well the candles and lightning had improved. it was a single bath long bath, so he striped down with her and got comfortable away from her and kept his gaze elsewhere. She had done the same and kept her back to him, after they were no able.to relax there bodies and muscles.
It was a peaceful silence between them. with both quietly cleaning and adjusting themselves to a comfortable position.
"Mason... after all you've told me... I can't help buy worry now..."
"of what? and you shouldn't..." he asked and told her,
"well... after the demonstration of your strength... such as what you did to me... and those in the army... and if you were not a killer in your past... it worries me... that your anger will get the best of you..." she said and turned to him. "I have no right to say since I'm just a lower being compared to you, but Mason. Are you not concerned of those around you...? or of your family?"
"speak, very carefully your next few wards dear..." he told her, angered now, and looked right back to her.
she stopped. and looked away, but did spoke up either way just now, no longer facing him. "your anger will not be sedated Mason. it won't subside if you truly don't forget your old world and who ever did those wrongs to you..." she tightened up holding herself now when she heard water behind her shifting and splashing.
Mason stood up after what she said, and walked over to her. "I said to be careful with your next words didn't i...?" he grabbed onto her shoulder and stood behind her.
"I appreciate, your thoughtfulness... but do not meddle with my choices. what your asking is far to forgiving and weak. something I will not accept." he finished and let her go walking past her as he got out. "enjoy the bath... I'll be taking my leave..."
She looked up behind herself and watched him go. she sat alone in her pool, as it suddenly felt all the colder when a while ago it was so warm and perfect. she sighed and closed her eyes only to then be left in her thoughts, but spoke out loud. "that was... an inappropriate time to bring it up... maybe the ladies he is with will understand... and help him see... but let it go... you have a job to do..."
Mason was changed and now roamed the mansion. food was taken from sleeves and even wall was missing a painting. they wasn't no time looting and taking all they could. still it had lots of rooms. many for himself and those he was housing. they had a whole town to search for everything they need. and natural land around. wti ha clear head, he saw lots of opportunities to have his town grow steadily. with its population made of mostly children who were enslaved and captured. and few adults around who suffered the same. he had to carry the burron of also helping them grow individual and on there own. He left the Mason and walked back to the church, where he begin the development of his domain. tomorrow, would be the start of a new era as he name was going to be known with his kingdom expending.
