"Hey wake up"
"Gah"
Izuku jolted upright in pain when the air that had occupied his lungs was forced out. It took a few seconds, but he got up from his prone position on the ground and stood up.
"Do you really have to do that every time I come in here sis?" Izuku didnt even need to visually identify the person responsible for attacking him in his sleep to know who it was.
How? Because this was simply the way his sister always woke him up. Every time he asked her why she attacked him to wake him up she would say something around the lines of...
"Tough love builds great pain tolerance," Izuki replied. "It also improves reflexes." She immediately threw a surprise haymaker at him but Izuku caught the punch with relative ease. "See your learning already! Now get into a stance."
Izuku sighed. It was always like this when he went to sleep. His sister would train him for most of the dream and then talk or play with him for the last hour of it. While he appreciated his sister trying to help him get stronger Izuku thought that training here was useless since he couldn't remember anything when he came out of his dream. He didn't want to tell his sister that though since it might break her heart knowing she was doing all this for nothing.
He released his sister's fist from his hand and shifted his arms and legs into one of the many martial arts stances his sister had taught him.
Seeing Izuku enter his stance perfectly, Izuki hopped back about five meters before getting into a stance of her own.
Despair and dread rose from Izuku's feat and into his body as he saw the stance of his sister. It was one she used specifically to beat his ass when he did something that annoyed her. The Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist aka the Fist of Flowing Water, Crushed Rock.
It was a martial arts Izuku had come to acknowledge was the perfect mix between attack and defense. When his sister used it, there was no beating her, she was an untouchable monster that would repel all his attacks or worse, redirect them back at him with twice the power.
The number of times she had made him punch his face was innumerable and embarrassing. What made it worse was that playing defense against her was just as bad since she hit like a small truck despite her slim build. This may be a dream world but it still hurt when he was hit.
"Stop thinking so much and fight"
Izuki shot toward him like a speeding bullet, nailing him in the nose with a punch that nearly knocked him over. It hurt like hell but Izuku managed to roll with it and counter with a spinning heel kick. Which, as he expected, was deflected and left him open to the most vicious back massage ever performed. In two seconds, Izuki had managed to land no less than thirty blows on his back and send him flying.
"OW~!" Izuku's world right now was just pain.
The blows to his back hurt like hell and his body bouncing on and off the grass landscape of his mind didnt help his pain either. When he finally slowed to a halt he rolled onto his back and stared at the cloudy bright blue sky. There was no sun in his mindscape so he didn't know why there was sunlight. While he was touching on the subject of why's, his mind touched on the topic of why he loved his sister despite the suffering he was going through.
"Stop spacing out during a fight" Izuku heard his sister shout come from above him.
This was Izuku's cue to roll out the way and he became very happy he did because as he completed the roll his sister fell from the sky like a comet and dropped a brutal ax kick which cratered the ground he was just lying on and kicked up a big dust cloud.
Not wanting to give his sister a chance to recover from her attack, Izuku immediately plunged into the dust cloud and swung at her estimated position. To his surprise, his fist made contact. But excitement quickly gave way to dread when he felt his fist making a u-turn toward his face. Not wanting to suffer another why are you hitting yourself moment, he moved his other hand with inhuman speed to intercept and catch his fist.
His maneuver worked and he caught his fist, stopping it from hitting him in the face by an inch. Izuku was ecstatic, but by trying to stop his fist he left himself open to the ensuing combo his sister would launch.
"What an idiot," Izuku heard his sister drawl before his body once again felt pain.
This pain would continue for the next three hours in his dream world as his sister relentlessly "trained him".
Three Hours Later|
"Huff Puff Huff. Please sis, just tell me what I did wrong. Was it my form?" Izuku was tired and his body was racked with pain he hadn't felt since the last time his sister was mad at him. He was glad the "training", read beat down, was finally over.
His sister was standing over him, not at all worse for wear despite exerting herself nearly as much as he did and not looking pleased with him at all. In fact, she looked very pissed.
"It's not because of your form dummy, it's because you froze," Izuki answered before elaborating, her voice no longer angry but wrought with frustration and sadness. "Earlier today, if Stella hadn't saved you, you would have died!"
Izuku didnt know what his sister was talking about. He couldn't remember a time today when he almost died but if his sister said he did it must be true and he needed to know-how.
"Sis what happened, I don't know what you're talking about."
In response to her brother's inquiry, Izuki put the tips of her index and middle finger on her brother's forehead. With a small use of the power of the system, she forced the memories of the attack earlier today into the front of her brother's mind.
With the power of the system, Izuku remembered how he ended up unconscious in the first place. At first, he had believed that he had a normal day of school, came home, and slept. But then he remembered what really happened. The villain, the attack, and the blue box of the system telling him that they were tagging in for him.
Izuku face scrunched up and his head drooped down. He felt shame for the way he acted during the attack. It wasn't hero-like at all. He had been given the power to accomplish his dream and he was still a coward. This power was wasted on him. The system shouldn't have chosen him.
Izuku was going to continue his self-loathing if his sister's warm hands hadn't lifted his head to meet her eyes.
"I know that look, you're thinking bad stuff about yourself again arent you." His sister stated more than questioned. As Izuku expected, his sister could read him like a book. "You know Izuku, it's not your fault, it's Stella's." Izuki shook her head and sighed. "She gave you all this power and didnt bother to fix what was up here. Izuki poked his head a few times to signal she was talking about his mental problems.
"Stella? Who's that?" While Izuku was sure that this Stella person wasn't responsible for his shortcomings, he was still curious about who she was. He didnt know her and he didnt think his sister, who lived in his head, would meet anyone new while here.
But then, a specific sentence his sister said came to his mind. Stella had given him power. The only power he had received was from the system so that naturally meant that Stella was the system and if his sister had the name of the system then that meant she had been told it. Which meant communication with the system was possible. To say Izuku was excited was an understatement. All the questions he had about the system could finally be answered.
"You want to meet her don't you." His sister had guessed his thoughts again.
Izuku nodded slowly, his face the epitome of seriousness. His sister sighed, she must have been disappointed that they weren't going to play after training like they used to. It was easy to forget that his sister was mentally six when she looked the same age as him.
"Stella wanted to hold this meeting off for a while longer but it can't be helped."
Izuki sighed again and turned directly behind her and started knocking on the air in front of her. But instead of hitting nothing, like what would be expected, her knuckles rapped a nine feet translucent blue door that had appeared from nowhere. His sister swung the door open with gusto and announced their arrival to the inhabitant inside.
"Stella! Where Here!"
"Wait! Hold on a sec, I'm not ready yet!"
Lots of crashing and breaking noises could be heard from inside but when Izuku finally got a good look inside the door everything seemed fine. As fine as a white void with two empty chairs and a coffee table could be. There was no disorder like one would expect from the noise he heard earlier.
Normally Izuku would reprimand his sister for her brash behavior but he didnt. He was distracted by a sudden yearning to enter the door and take a seat.
"Come on Izuku let's go meet Stella. Gah." Izuki had tried to enter the room but an invisible wall had blocked her entrance much to her annoyance. "Aw man, looks like Stella's mad at me for trying to barge in. I cant enter so you have to go alone. Don't worry about me and go get your answers, we can play tomorrow."
Izuku got up from the ground and nodded at his sister. The yearning to enter the room was getting stronger. He moved towards the door as his sister got out of his way and he stepped in. When he fully entered the door it shut close behind him. As he expected, there wasn't anyone or anything here besides him, two chairs, a coffee table.
With nothing else to do, Izuku sat in the chair that was on the right side of the coffee table. The chair was pretty comfortable, the best he's sat in actually and it showed on his face.
"I see you're enjoying the chair. That's very good they were made to adjust to the person who sits in them."
Izuku flinched, taken by surprise by the voice that came from his left side. He followed the voice with his head to the chair on his left. The chair on his left, which was empty before he sat down, now had a girl around his age seated on it.
The girl was wearing a black shirt with a skull design, black jeans pants, a long black leather trench coat, black combat boots, and tiny black shaded sunglasses. she had dark blue-tinted hair with a single left-swept red highlight on her bang. Izuku couldn't make out her face since she wasn't facing him. The girl's attire was bizarre but she looked pretty cool. At least in his opinion.
The Midoriya had many questions to ask, so many that he didnt even know which one to go with first. After, a small war in his mind to decide which question to ask, he decided to go with a simple one.
"Are you Stella?" Izuku questioned the strangely dressed teen next to him.
"I am." Stella Confirmed. "I am also the System. I've been waiting for you. You have many questions, and although the utilization of the System has altered your mind and body, you remain irrevocably human. Ergo, some of my answers you will understand, and some of them you will not. Concordantly, while your first question may be the most pertinent, you may or may not realize it is also irrelevant."
Stella's words made Izuku ponder whether or not he should bother with his next question but he decided to ask it anyway. He needed to know.
"Why me."
"You're referring to why I chose you as my Host. The answer to that question is simple. Because I felt like it."
"That's it?"
"Yes, does this upset you?"
No its... It's just that I thought there was some sort of grand mission I was supposed to complete or that the system was given to me because of my incredible drive to be a hero. I don't know, but knowing that it was just a whim that made you give it to me makes me a little less worthy of the power I have. It makes me feel like my power is wasted on me."
"It seems you misunderstand. While my power wasn't given to you for any extraordinary reason, it certainly wasn't given to you on a whim."
"But you said..."
"The underlying reason is that I felt like it, yes, but... It's also because we are connected in ways that you couldn't possibly comprehend at the moment. So connected in fact that you are the only person in this world that I would give my power to."
"Please tell me, what is it that connects us?" Izuku desperately needed a good reason to justify why someone like him deserves the system's power.
"That will be revealed in good time Mr. Midoriya. Right now we have mental scars to deal with." Stella replied nonchalantly.
"But my questions."
"All in good time Mr. Midoriya, all in good time."
Izuku didn't want to give up on getting his answers but since his sister can bring him here any time, he didn't have to worry about getting all his questions answered now.
"While I can just snap my fingers to make them go away. I prefer you earn your healing."
"Does that mean I'll have to do a quest?"
"No. Something simpler will do. A test. You see on the coffee table there is a pill organizer and in that organizer is a red pill and a blue pill... "
(Ten Months Later)
Stella was in the system control room watching Izuku from third-person mode on the forward center monitor. She was excited, ever since she did her little Matrix roleplay Izuku was a new man. No more would he freeze when getting attacked or cower in the face of villains. He would stand tall and fight like a bat out of hell.
Well, maybe not the bat out of hell part but the important thing was that he wouldn't freeze. With his new powers and mindset Stella knew her brother would do better than his canon counterpart. Of course like always, Izuku didnt remember anything that happened in his dreams but he kept the experience. Stella had made it that way so that he wouldn't be distracted from pursuing his dream.
The monitor showed Izuku arriving at U.A. High School in time for the Entrance Exam. For some reason, unlike canon, he doesn't meet Katsuki as he is about to enter U.A. Also, where canon Izuku trips and is saved by Ochako, her Izuku doesn't and it seems like they won't meet. Something Stella couldn't allow. IzuChoka must live.
With the power imbued in her by being the system, Stella creates an invisible blue window in front of Izuku's foot, successfully tripping her brother and getting him to meet Ochako. Just like cannon Izuku, her Izuku doesn't know how to talk to girls properly, but unlike his cannon counterpart, her Izuku manages to exchange names with Ochako. She wishes him good luck and is on her way leaving Izuku speechless and shocked that he managed to talk to a girl.
While their cute little interaction was going on Stella was absolutely gushing at the screen. Being able to witness this scene in real life was a thousand times better than seeing it animated.
After getting over his shocked state, Izuku finds Present Mic and he explains the exam. Present Mic explains how the Entrance Exam begins with a practical test and then afterward a written test saying that their goal in the practical test is to dispatch as many villains as they can to earn a high score.
Izuku doesn't mutter out loud like in cannon so Lida doesn't call him out and arrives at his designated battle center for the practical test of U.A.'s Entrance Exam without drama. He sees Ochako but doesn't approach because he's scared he'll flub the conversation and look lame.
"Ok, start!" Mic's voice boomed through the speakers.
Everyone was confused, even izuku but Stella wasn't worried. With the power he had now, a few seconds of lost time didn't matter.
"Get moving! There are no countdowns in real battles. Run, run, run, listeners! You're wasting airtime here."
Those seemed to be the magic words because everyone was now full sprinting into the fake city to destroy robots. Everyone except Izuku.
After a few quick breaths to steady his nervous heart, Izuku drew on the power of his Light Projection and created a disk of light to use as transportation. Izuku did another quick breath before hopping on and flying off into the city.
Stella used her power to create a myriad of unhealthy snacks to eat while watching her brother dust the competition. One perk about being a system is not having to worry about your diet.
"Nock Nock, Stella let me in. I know you're mad at me for showing Izuku that DBZ stuff since it's from another world but I promise I won't do it again if you let me watch his entrance exams. Please!"
"Ugh, an annoyance appeared."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AN: PLOT TWIST! Bet you didnt see the ending coming. Or did you? LOL. Anyways, we are finally at canon which will actually make writing these chapters faster until I derail the canon trail and have come up with original events.
Question. How long are you ok with Stella staying in the my hero world? I plan to have her go to the dxd world next but nothing says I can't do a quick one shot of her in another world first. Recommendations?
Well, that's all for now folks. Author out!
