Chapter 2 - Dinner outing from hell

It was my absent mindedness or just casual dumbness , that I forgot the fact that my hubs manager - Deb used to love mauve color. And the fate put me right into it when I wore a mauve pant suit for our dinner outing.

As I sat down in his luxury Sedan, I saw him adjust his rear view mirror to get me into his field of vision. As our eyes met , I awkwardly glanced out of the window. My hubs and Deb talked their heads off.

"Hey hun! Why aren't you talking love?" , he looked back at me.

"You know I always get lost when I see you so happy! Its all what my world needs now!" , yup it was awkward to say that but it was a hint for Deb to stay away from our lives.

"Aww..look at you two love birds! I feel a bit envious of you my man! How did you land such a beautiful gal?" , Deb said as his eyes glanced at me through his mirror.

"I had to literally stand in the cold windy night through the rainy morning!" , he looked back at me and laughed.

I laughed at him too.

The oversmart girl I decided to be trying to hint Deb again, I said , " Lets just say , he is perfect for me! The destiny basically landed me on him!"

My hubs giggled like a school boy. He was gloating in pride after this conversation we had.

We went into this fancy restaurant, there was light jazz playing in the background. I had been to such an uptown place maybe just once in my life.

"What would you like to order?", Deb just looked me straight into my eye, every old memory crossed my mind.

I grasped my mans hand, "Anything you'd order honey!"

"How about a seafood platter!" , he suggested.

"Aren't you allergic to seafood, Rebecca?" , Deb looked at me wide eyed.

My face turned blue.

"Yah hun! Now I remember yes you are allergic! Then let's order half seafood and half meat platter! Strange for you to know Deb!" , he looked at him eerily.

In my faint attempts to cover up, I said ," There are many people allergic to seafood so yah!"

"Yah sure", Deb replied with a haunting grin.

As the food arrived we kept quiet but I couldn't eat properly as all the time I feared that Deb would make another sarcastic comment over our past banters.

As our dinner finished and I wanted my hubs to pay some of the bill, Deb went ahead and made another cheeky remark , "For all the food that touches these pretty lips let me be the person to pay for it!"

Deb used to be a part of Drama Operatics society and that he was already showing off.

Again I tried to cover up hastily and said, "You have a flair for the drama!"

We all giggled but deep down I was secretly worried if Deb was planning to interfere in my life!

"Why don't I drop you two to your little abode!" , Deb with he vile grin.

"Hun!I'm in the mood for a long walk! We are just a few blocks away from our apartment lets jo go wild!", I grasped onto my husband's hand tight as if I didn't want to let him go.

"Yah! Sure hun! Let's go on a long walk! Thanks alot Deb! It was a wonderful evening!" , said my husband as he grabbed my arm and looked into my eyes.

"The pleasure has and will always be mine!", Deb stared at me with a grisly smile.

As we were walking along the alley way, I happened to glance a black Sedan following us.

Who was it? Are we in danger?
