"Where have you girls been? Are you all settling fine here? Or have you missed home already?" I asked my handmaidens as Sofia brushed my long blue-black hair and Matilda prepared my royal outfit for the day.
"Oh, it was splendid, Princess. I mean, my Queen. The King granted us permission to roam around the streets of the city centre any time of the day. The people were kind and the city,..." Sofia answered with a dreamy look in her eyes.
"The city? You went to the city? How?" I whispered. My eyes glimmered with excitement and my heart was pounding hard upon hearing the word city centre. Truth be told, I was having a hard time trying to contain my giddiness to explore their malls.
Both their lips parted in an O and giggled they did.
"You see, my Queen. Our place of lodgings is far from here. It's much much closer to the city. According to the people in the market, the King prefers solitary and enjoys being surrounded by nature."
