the red bolt fell silence descended on the whole city. only the sound of thunder was heard.
faes heard various notifications go off as the first lightening bolt fell directly above her head and pain unimaginable passed through her body.
[WARNING!]
[host has levelled up]
[the compensation activated.....]
[calling upon a fire thunder trial...]
[fire trial under proceedings...]
[all the powers sealed]
[quest: the fire trial
rewards: increase in the foundation of fire, fire dao comprehension, foundation strengthening
punishment: cultivation destruction, crippling]
[host, all the best]
faes was in too much pain to even open her eyes and read the notifications going on. she only knew that she just broke through in her cultivation and the trial is now destroying her cultivation somehow, rebuilding it in the process.
the red thunder, representing fire descended upon her making the fire element in her body breakdown. she had cultivated it delegently all this time, strengthening it so that she could become a strong cultivator but it turned out that the more strong her base was the stronger the fire trial would be.
faes felt her body burning as she screamed falling onto the ground, trying to use her water and ice magic to cool of herself but she found that she couldn't use any of her powers!
faes felt her body burning, from inside out as if she was standing inside a furnance.
her body was strong enough that normal fire couldn't burn her at all, she had even gone through the black soulfire baptism but the current heat in her body was way beyond what she had felt.
the single red lightening bolt had been enough to cause her harm and also the area around her.
faes fell on her knees as the effects of first bolt faded faes could think again. she noticed the system notifications and sighed in relief. she had teleported alex and nia away before the clouds could gather completely and hence they were in safe place.
as for the trial faes couldn't stop it. it was her compensation in a way, testing her again.
just as faes was relaxing the clouds boomed again as the second red bold fell over her making her scream again in agony.
this bold directly burnt her skin and began burning her muscles, though it wasn't as evident if one managed to look at her. if they saw her, they would only find her glowing in a red hue. only faes could feel how much the red fire was burning her.
the fire bolts continued falling burning her body parts one by one, from outside to inside. it all began from her skin, then muscles, veins, organs, bones. the five bolts of red lightening fell on faes she was already curled up on the ground.
she was gasping for breath, her brows furrowed in pain and she was still fighting the pain. when her consciousness began blurring.
and soon faes found herself standing in a fiery field being burnt until she completely died, not even her ashes remained but she was revived again in the field.
one time, two times, ..... ten times.....
faes could not understand what was happening in the beginning but she began to get used to the heat her brain could function again. she found that she actually had time before she could be burnt and every time it happened the fire burnt her equally from all sides.
faes couldn't understand what was the meaning of this, the fire was clearly on the ground so how can it burn her equally from all sides?
it wasn't until faes was burnt to death fifty times that she realised that to have equal temperature all over had an effect.
every time she was burnt, her body became more resistant to the fire, becoming strong by the tempering. and the equal temperature was because of the invisible fire that was surrounding her.
the fire on the ground was simply a normal fire but it's heat was concentrated around her in a homogenous way using the mana. it caused an effect similar to tempering pills with fire during the refining process.
it caused equal baptism from head to toe.
despite it being so beneficial, it wasn't easy to be burnt alive again and again. it was just as painful as previous times it not more.
and soon faes noticed another abnormility, the temperature of the fire was rising rapidly as the numbers were increasing. maintaining the agony.
every time she began getting used to the temperature it would increase.
faes gritted her teeth as she was revived again. it was already the hundredth time she was burnt alive. the pain could not even compare to the time she died in her first life, or the time she underwent the dragon trial.
[the saying is true that being burnt alive is the most painful process, followed by giving birth]
and currently faes was going through that pain alone. faes sighed as she felt the fire surround her again, but this time it did not burn her completely. when only her ashes were remaining the fire type magic particles and mana began to merge with it.
reforming her body using pure fire essence. once her body was reformed faes was sent back to real world. ending her cycle of torment.
faes gasped as she began twitching, unable to breath. her mana going out of control as the clouds in the sky turned darker.
suddenly red and yellow colored lightening fell from the sky, engulfing her body and burning it again.
faes couldn't even scream this time barely conscious as her body was burnt and reshaped by the fire.
it was already the seventh lightening bold. two more remaining and faes was barely conscious. but her torment wasn't over, just when the red-yellow lightening was done with reshaping her body a blue colored lightening fell over her.
it was far more scorching than the previous one's and directly entered her body, though this time it didn't burn her body completely but only her meridians and core.
burning and rebuilding them again and again until it was satisfied.
after it was done the sky began to darken. faes was given time to rest but she was already fighting consciousness, her eyes closed as she lay limply on the ground.
she just wanted it to end.
faes couldn't even focus on anything as she just let the fate decide what to do with her. she would just accept whatever happened to her and try to survive.
just then she felt a warm wave of mana surrounding her. it wasn't hurting her but rather helping her body ease the pain. it flew inside her from all her pores and ran along her meridians and then got distributed to her whole body. soothing and nourishing her body cells one by one.
faes felt air filling her lungs once again as she felt her power becoming stronger and then she realized, she was in middle of a mana storm.
faes opened her eyes and saw the mana whirling around, a huge bluish purple tornado of fire type mana was right above her slowly descending towards her body. accompanied by a black fire lightening bolt.
faes smiled wryly at the scene
